I live in the area it is occurring in and it's crazy cause you signs everywhere about it. I'm also a cat owner so this is disturbing.
At least 12 have been found since February. And the violence is ramping up — seven of these cases were reported in August alone, the latest on Tuesday.

The mutilated remains of beloved pets have shown up in public places around Olympia, Wash. — on front lawns, in neighborhood parks, even on the grounds of a church.

There may well be more cats involved. A case reported in Lacey, Wash., in February, involved body parts that could have come from three different cats.

As the reports have come in, so have donations. There is now a $35,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer.

Yeah, whoever's doing it wants the cats to be found. They want the owners to know how much their pets suffered.

I really hope they get caught before they can hurt anything or anyone else.

I initially read this as Serial Killer Cat and was like "WTF. I must read this ". I remember in South London several years ago something similar happened. Can't remember if they ever caught the perpetrator.

Life in prison.

This is textbook behavior for budding serial killers. For our safety, we don't need those kind of people roaming around among normal people.

someone like this probably isn't gonna stop at cats (or has already crossed that line)

I read it that way too and then my heart fucking sank when it clicked.

Thread title had me thinking this was about a feral cat going savage on pets around the neighbor, but fuck me, this is so much worse.

Isn't there a rule for bad feeling new stories

This person is still on the loose, and poses a danger to pets and people a like. I think folks knowing this is going on, as we assuredly have people from the state on this forum, is more important than protecting people from...feeling bad?

Seriously. I clicked this topic with the same hopes but now I'm angry and want to this guy caught and killed asap.

As an owner of an outdoor kitty (in Cali though), this story makes me shudder.

mutilating and killing stray cats the way this person is obviously doing is horrible, but I wouldn't say killing stray/feral cats in general is horrible. Feral cats are a huge detriment to local environments.

Well if they could be re-located that would be great. Cats have feelings just as humans do.

This comes off as practice for a soon to be serial killer. It's rather disturbing and should be stopped as soon as possible.

I'm not sure he'd move onto humans. Part of why he's attacking cats instead of people could be because they're defenseless and "easier" targets than actual people.

only a matter of time till he/she sees an indoor cat they must get, breaks in and accidentally kills a human in the frenzy. that's when they get the taste.

Yeah, I've been keeping both of my cats in most of the day. My mostly outdoors cat absolutely hates it.

From the sounds of it, they seem to be going after very defenseless cats, ones that are old and disabled in some way, or just kittens.
