How do you like your puddles?

  • The entire game should take place inside a huge puddle

  • As big as Insomniac's artists want them to be

  • As deep as my knowledge of game development

  • I prefer oceans tbh

  • Don't go chasing Waterfalls

Fucking nerds...

"Games go through optimization?! What a fucking outrage!"

While the outrage is silly, I do think companies shouldn't promote levels of graphical fidelity that they can't deliver on.

The puddles looked same to me (but smaller), the suit does look worse in the second screenshot.

Personally I just want to know if it plays as fun as it looks (if that sentence makes sense).

Shininess of Spider-Man's suit was reduced. This was mentioned by a dev during one of the live streams.
Lighting has changed, so the detail of the suit, puddle and walls would make the environment seem less detailed.
Puddles were changed\reduced. Since more puddles appear in open environments, it should be clear to people that the puddles in spider-man do not take up a lot of resources.

The scene looks different and that doesn't mean it was downgraded.

It seems like it's going to go on for awhile unless some respectable youtuber such as NX Gamer makes a video about this situation.

They should just stop responding.

Anyone that was going to buy the game is still gonna buy it and anyone that wasn't still won't.

Responding to the trollish shit like this only opens a can of unnecessary worms.

The persecution complex by people who are willingly ignoring evidence to the contrary is pretty funny. It's not about it being a Sony game. It's about the inanity of the comparison.

If you genuinely cannot see the bias on this forum then I'm sorry. There is no reason to continue the conversation between us at that point. On topic it looks downgraded. Gonna buy anyways.

I mean, it's clearly downgraded, but it's not a big deal. I would assume the game wasn't finished during that E3 showing years ago and the final build of the game couldn't hold that segment up to a solid framerate.

I enjoyed these lines via the IGN report on this ongoing controversy:

Redditors are arguing over whether or not the textures look worse in the release versions – but one thing everyone agrees on is that what once was a giant puddle is now a smaller puddle.

Whether or not consumers will let this lead to a buying decision is unknown.

Obvious downgrade but who gives a shit. Gamers are embarrassing at times.

Look at that left arm where the shadowing happens, thats not just because of a lighting change, that model has less polygons used. Its literally not noticeable for 99% of people and I don't care but it is a difference

Thats, thats not how 3d models....
You know what, im out, people not knowing what the fuck they are talking about and still think they can spot nonsense is staggering.
I dont even have a reason to defend this game, im not buying it, nor i have a ps4.

Yeah, that does look like a pretty clear downgrade to me. It was probably done for performance's sake though; I'd rather have the game be really smooth and run at a high frame rate than have some extra eye candy with shadows and reflections

Seems fair to me
How many times do we have to go through this lol

Those things are still there. The shadows, the reflections, the puddles, the textures. All of it are in the game just fine even though that one scene makes it appear not. They did change the puddles and lighting for that scene but they didnt downgrade it. And we have proof from the current stuff they have shown.

Downgrades for performance are okay. But that's not what they did here.

Loving the persecution complex going on right now. All the people who are mad about some perceived "Sony bias" coming out of the woodwork in this thread.

Of course, none of them are listing any good reasons that this is downgraded. And no, "the lighting changed" and "there are less puddles" are not good reasons.

When I first saw this image without the text I thought the top one was the release build.

But I am pretty sure it's just lighting changes.

I feel bad for developers of any game that has huge world because people have no idea how development works. How many tough calls should be made on some changes due to artistic or engineering choice.

Like remember the deal with Witcher 3 downgrade? Boy I wonder why CRPR is so scared of showing t the public Cuberpunk 2077 or how the demo of it is slapped with "work in progress" all over it

I think the harsher reactions to this from people who should know better (re: art, style, and general development process) are embarrassing. This level of cynicism is caustic to the creators who give this hobby its substance.

This shit reminds me to yeneffer's hair all over again.

People became incredibly stupid after the ubisoft watchdogs fiasco, they are trying to look at every texture or light change to cry wolf, instead of thinking with their fucking heads.

The next showings of Cyberpunk are going to be the carnival of stupid, because of artistic or gameplay changes than some people will say downgrade.

Its funny why some pople asked if it was really necessary to say "WIP" every 5 minutes in the CP demo. Its for stupid people like this and thats why devs will never open up to consumers.
I do not mean to hate on games but out of the recent games I have played, Witcher 3 is the one that i am iffy on regarding the hair lol.

I think Horizon, God of War, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and other games do it fine but there is something about it on Witcher 3 that makes me think it could be a lot better overall. Like it clashes with the other visuals.

Maybe i am used to seeing the PC version hairworks be different.

We are lost as a society.
Come on, I don't think any of this justifies any outrage, but looking at those comparisons it's clearly downgraded, especially the suit.
I don't know, can't devs just say: "Yeah, we prioritized a stable framerate and sacrificed some bells and whistles for it."
Instead of just denying the obvious?

The people complaining about the surface area of puddles are a bunch of weirdos.
It's the depth that matters.

You know what, I'll take this as a positive. Every big game had it's dumb "controversy" before selling like hotcakes. This is just a sign that Spidey is gonna hit the big time.

... it is clearly different. Like, there is no denying the two images are different and the e3 one is the better looking and more detailed of the two.

To me this is no different than The Division looking different during e3 showings versus the full release.

But there's obviously a strong favour towards this game here, so any who criticise it are better off just going elsewhere.

This will still be one of the top 3 highest selling games of the year, despite this absurd hashtag.

Game still looks gorgeous.

I love how Era is interchangeably biased towards Sony or Nintendo, depending on how well it suits some posters' arguments. Which is it? Wait, no, don't answer that because the whole thing is pretty stupid. Hopefully I'll be able to snag an early copy of this game and try to to play as much as I can, wish I could get it right now because it's a long weekend in Peru and it'd have been amazing to be playing this right now.

What does that have with the content of his posts? Did he doctor the screenshots and Gifs? Sweet ad hominem. It's almost like you're rooting for this stuff to be true instead of being objective with what is being presented.

I was objective. I said looks downgraded from the evidence originally posted. Also said I'm buying regardless.
