I bought the game and tried out a couple of pvp matches yesterday. Had a great time and looking forward to more after work!
Picked this up today £24.99 from Argos, cheapest I've seen it. Looking forward to trying it later.
Anyone having aim drift issues while in game? Lining up targets with the red dot sight has the aim positioning off during the game. Quick fix is to shake the controller, but it feels like I'm fighting with it to accurately aim. I'm guessing this has to do with my setup with the camera, but I'm at a loss.
I stand about 5 feet from the camera. Dark room. Camera is about at eye level when standing.
Wow, reading and watching this game it's the first VR game that's really made me want to put up the money. It's like permanently accessible laser tag/paintballing in your own room.
I'm worried about the playerbase though. How long will it realistically last?

Firewall is the first real tactical Shooter on PSVR, a genre that has been in high demand since the Hardware was initially unveiled (at least going from my own perception of the discussion back then). It also seems to be a genuinely well designed, deep game instead of "only" a fun diversion. The PSVR install-base might be rather small, but consists mainly of enthusiasts - so i think Firewall might be the first PSVR game that has a realistic Chance of developing online longevity (besides RecRoom). If the Devs Keep updating the game, that is.

I think that's the crazy thing. The fact that Firewall nails it so right on it's first try. Yeah, there are changes I'm hoping they make but I wasn't expecting the gameplay to be this good and intense from the offset. Firewall isn't a prototype for a tactical shooter on PSVR, it's the real deal.
Agreed. So good. My highlights from last night were nailing someone with blind fire from behind cover (trophy!), and taking out all four defenders myself before hacking the laptop as last man standing (double trophy!). Having teammates calling out enemy locations using the security cameras is genius!
All these impressions are making me want to buy a PSVR.
Anyone know if this is a timed exclusive, or will it only ever be on PSVR?

This thread is making me dangerously close to buying an aim. I just wish there were more games compatible to it to justify the purchase, it costs about $120 here unbundled and there aren't a lot of games I'm gonna use it with.
These games work with it ;
Doom VFR
Arizona Sunshine
Farpoint
Dick Wilde
The Brookhaven Experiment
ROM:Extraction
Bravo Team
might be a couple more
edit:
ChromaGun
Evasion
Special Delivery
Unearthing Mars 2

To be honest, the AIM controller really makes this good for me. I don't think I'd have the same feelings using the Vive wands, or touch controllers. All these impressions are making me want to buy a PSVR.

Pushsquare gave it a 6/10. They said the game is really fun, but they knocked it because potentially not enough people will play it in the future.

i just read that... What are they thinking?
I've never seen a game's score go down because of the prospect that the playerbase might go down?
And how does giving it a 6/10 help out with that? People might see that and get turned off because they assume it's bad.
Yeah, I've never seen anything like that before either.
Something about VR just makes a few reviewers lose their minds.
i know its too early but offering it has a PS plus title somewhere down the line would help ensure that it stays populatedYeah, I've never seen anything like that before either.

Is it just me, or does the PS Pro actually look like they just put a soften filter over the entire scene, making everything blurrier? I think I might prefer less blurriness and more jaggies in a game like this.
Fun fact for those who may not have noticed it. In the killhouse map (the training room looking map), you can look through the door handle holes to see enemy players.
They'll fix it asap if they want to keep people happy. It's reeeeeally intense, lol. Very very fun especially if you are in a team with nice randoms.
But man, matchmaking is ROUGH. Takes forever and then there is host qutting and everybody gets kicked. How couldn't they get this thing right? Big oversight.
Care to explain your thinking with this review get2sammyb ? I see the actual negatives but your positives seem to outweigh it and the whole focus on MP and playerbase as a reason to ding it is... what were you thinking? lolYeah, I've never seen anything like that before either.

Right? Just needs more review coverage on Metacritic now.....

Well the first thing I'd say is that a 6/10 is not bad on our scale at all. I know that other sites have completely ruined the review scale and there's nothing I can do about that, but for us a 6/10 is 'Not Bad'. This is what our review scale states:
"An above average experience with some flaws, you may still enjoy these titles. A release awarded this score may have evident ambitions which aren't properly realised, or obvious shortcomings which detract from the overall experience."
I must admit I've been quite taken aback by the overwhelming enthusiasm for this game. I think it's great that people are enjoying it enough to treat it like an 8/10 or a 9/10, but I can't see it.
I think when you're playing, aside from some minor PSVR Aim Controller drift, it's really fun; I like what the virtual reality adds to the experience, both in terms of letting you intuitively lean out of cover and naturally survey your surroundings, but I spent most of yesterday playing and I just didn't get anywhere near as much game time as I'd hoped I would. The single player stuff is token, and I'm not a fan of the co-op either, so it leaves the 8-player mode. But I spent so much time sitting in lobbies it was insane.
I think, for me, when you're designing a multiplayer-only game and you're not Call of Duty or Battlefield, you've got to think about how you're going to make the experience fun for a potentially small pool of players. Why not put a shooting gallery in the lobby, for example, so I can do something while I wait? Or, and I know it potentially goes against the tactical gameplay, but why not fill out missing player slots with a bot? I dunno, the whole issue is exacerbated by the single round format and the host connection issues.
I could have waited for a patch and to see how things developed over the coming weeks, but it's never been our prerogative to wait to review a game that's for sale now. I'll definitely be revisiting it over the coming weeks, though, and if it develops a steady community or gets some updates that dramatically improve things, there's always scope for an update or (potentially) a re-review.
But I've been shocked by the reaction to that review to be honest. I thought it was really fair.
