it's an obvious downgrade, i dont understand people here trying to deny that with jokes, really patetic imo... the game still great visually but the downgrade is real.
That's a noticeable downgrade, but also to be expected for a showing of a game years out from release. Especially for a console exclusive. It's not dishonesty, it's just no game is optimised that early, so developers have no clue what the final product will look like
Because it's not an honest comparison and has been explained by the studio as to why it was changed. Change in lighting/weather and removing things for artistic reasons isn't worthy of being 'news'.

It's just that particular scene. The most recent gameplay videos show the rooftop of a construction site with more puddles than the older screenshot.
this game looks gorgeous, but you don't need to be Sherlock to see that (at least on the suit) there's some significant shadowing differences.
I mean really it comes to lighting differences. They likely moved the source of the sun/light and the overall exposure of the scene which removed the shadows on the suit so the interior was brighter/more playable/less contrast. That doesn't mean there is a downgrade; it means they changed the lighting of a specific scene from a trailer over a year ago to launch. Much ado about nothing, honestly.
I like how it's almost 2019 and people still don't know how game development works with countless disclaimers of not final gameplay or work in progress.
People are stupid, I don't believe for a second this has been downgraded. People who are outraged by this are idiots especially until we see the full game.

Whats entitled about being mad that a game with exclusive pre order bonuses has changed visually since its first showing. If someone showed you a car and your car looked different wouldn't it be something worth talking about? I'm not even saying this is a downgrade but if it was why would it "Entitled"

The change of it's specular quality is an artistic decision, not a fucking downgrade. Every other difference in this scene can be attributed to a change in time of day.

It's notable YouTube compression and a change in lighting. It's 'weird' that the discussion about the supposed downgrade focuses on one still frame/scene. There is footage of the non-Day 1 patch gameplay out in the wild. There's no downgrade.
The fucking funny thing is, that the puddles are in other scenes, unchanged! Can you believe that???

It's clearly not downgraded. What do you think was downgraded? The shininess of the suit? A less cool color grade? The hit in texture quality you're seeing is because it's a screen from a youtube video.
Insomniac just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about puddle culture (I'm an expert), but quantity and reflection are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in multi-platform games where you can become successful by having small puddles. If you screw someone over in an exclusive title, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the puddle enthusiast, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Spider-Man, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Insomniac has alienated an entire market with this move.
Insomniac, publicly apologize and add more puddles or you can kiss your business goodbye.

No there is no downgrade. Downgrade means that they changed something for performance reasons and they didnt. They changed the lighting and it makes the colors and details pop less and moved some puddles around, however if you see other scenes and the countless videos they have shown you can see that the puddles and textures/lighting are not a problem. That one scene is just different.
Any criticism towards this game is going to be received poorly.
