I watched like half of the gameplay video for Cyberpunk and that was plenty for me. I really appreciated the developer walkthrough as they played the game, plus it looked really polished for something so early in development. If they maintain that kind of quality throughout they could be onto a GOAT.

whoa. i love it!

both games i'm so excited for but more so 2077. i'm just excited for RDR2 but 2077 is on a completely different level. with RDR2 i'll probably buy it, play the story, and sell it. with Cyberpunk 2077 I'll likely buy it on every platform I can (PS4 + PC and next gen if it releases on them) and i will definitely be buying any special/limited/collector's edition they offer and the expansion pass will be bought with zero hesitation. also i'm likely to spend A LOT of money upgrading my PC just for this game!

there are very few studios were i am happy to throw money at them. i felt bad for paying £55 for Witcher 3 at launch because i felt it was too little! i bought it twice on PC and again on PS4. i bought the expansion pass twice and even bought physical versions so i could get the gwent cards.

That's incredibly impressive. The people acting like this was expected are being very disingenuous.

Rockstar are on another level in terms of mass appeal so this is amazing for CDPR.

I still haven't seen the gameplay video of RDR2 cz i wanna keep it underwraps until it comes out. Also, i kinda have an idea how it will play out.

Cyberpunk on the other hand is a big deal, was really curious to know how it played and looked. Hopped on YouTube right after i came to know that video had been uploaded

Yup. Just remember that in the last decade, no one knew who CDPR is. The Witcher was just another Euro jank RPG that people couldn't care less about.

CDred have built up their brand and cyberpunk is an interesting genre. Not to take anything away from R* or westerns but red dead is no gta.

Itnernet hype doesn't always translate into actual sales, but given CDPR's track record, yeah the game will probably sell like crazy.
I'd put my money RDR 2 still outselling it(hard to predict, but coming off GTA5, I expect a pretty big bump, especially if they have a similiar online mode), but rockstar is basically in a category of its own.

Pretty impressive when you consider RDR is right around the corner and 2077 doesn't even have a date.

Makes sense. We knew what to expect from RDR II's gameplay trailer, but Cyberpunk was a mystery for the most part and hyped up like crazy.

Congrats to CDPR.

Credit where its due, but CDPR's fanbase is generally a lot more active and vocal on the internet than Rockstar's. Even on this forum.

I didn't watch RDR2 anything because RDR was a 7/10 experience to me and I don't have any interest in the sequel (might buy with 50-75% discount eventually if I hear lots of good things about story/writing).
Day 1 with Cyberpunk 2077 though, loved all three Witcher games and can't wait for more story/dialogue-driven cyberpunk games in general as there're not enough of them.

Yet Red Dead Redemption 2 will sell twice as much.

I think you're probably right. However I also wouldn't be too surprised if 2077 becomes a bigger sales monster than people (including myself) think. TW3 put CDPR on the map in a big way, and that fact a common comparison of the trailer and footage of 2077, has been to stuff like GTA or Watch Dogs, makes me think there this game could end up having a significantly wider appeal than many expect.

Well compared to Cyberpunk, RDR2 does seem quite generic, some kind of western GTA, and IMO boring, like the first game.

Though, one thing I suspect is that RDR won't sell nearly as well as GTAV.

For one thing, they won't be releasing across generations and reselling the same game multiple times. Nor do I think RDR has as large a name pull.

Games media kinda had a hand in this. They talked up the Cyberpunk demo as the greatest thing they'd ever seen for a month straight.

That said, it's been a long time coming and I think people were really dying to see what it would look like. RDR2 looks about what you'd expect from a sequel to RDR. Just... you know, better.

Both trailers dehyped me.

The reason I lost interest in RDR2 is because of how little it looks to have evolved from the first RDR. I'm sure that's fine for most people, but for me RDR is Rockstars worst open world game. Would've preferred Bully 2 honestly but that's never happening.

I blame game journalist for my hype deflating on Cyberpunk. Coming out of E3 people that saw the trailer made it sound like the second coming. And honestly it looks like Deus Ex meets GTA. And while I'm sure it'll be awesome, it just doesn't look like the game changer people were hyping it up to be.

Neither one has shown anything significant. The only thing they both have going for it is an underutilized setting. Gameplay in both looks average at best so far. But again, neither has released so no need to make a final verdict.

I think cyberpunk is probably a more popular genre than the western right now.

Also, RDR was never anywhere near as big as GTA.

Latest cyberpunk stuff seems to have failed. Blade Runner - most well known cyberpunk IP in the world - failed in box office despite being high quality. Mankind Divided also disappointed to the level of burying the IP. Not a lot of other cyberpunk stuff out there.

The people really like The Witcher 3 and they can't wait to see what is next from this developer.

Exactly this. While I enjoyed GTAV for being one of the most polished sandbox experiences out there when it came out, more interesting stuff came out after it. Also, I can imagine RDR's setting might have more appeal to an American audience, but doesn't have the same attraction to people from other countries. I'm interested in RDR because it is one of the premier blockbuster productions of the gen, but it doesn't excite me half as much as a sci-fi RPG from the creators of the Witcher 3.

It's the difference in settings. People aren't as interested in boring westerns where most of the world is empty and there's fuck all to do for side activities.

A massive modern or futuristic city setting from an equally powerful dev/publisher will always do better.
