That's good to know, thanks. So I didnt buy a faulty copy of the game and my Ps4 pro ain't actin out of the ordinary.
It's definitely noticably better on Pro. But it's up to you. Both resolutions are still low enough to have noticable aliasing.
I went to pick up my copy of this yesterday from Best Buy that I pre-ordered months ago and they didn't have it. Actually no BBY seems to actually have it in stock. Did anyone else have this problem? I have been getting games from BBY for years and never ran into this issue. So pissed because I want that Steelbook.
The sidequests feel like Kiwami, in which it's really obvious what's modern/new stuff, while the rest is pretty tame. I guess substories didn't really start to be really fleshed out until like 4 and some parts of 3. Also the minigames seem really tough, what is going on with that expert golfing?? UFO Catcher is just fucked though, they apparently forgot to add shadows so it's impossible to gauge distances now.
Loving the new engine though, as well as the main story.
You'll get the recap option in the graveyard at the very beginning of the game.So I just started the game. I couldn't find the recap video of Kiwami 1. Is it after the beginning intro?
I played kiwami 1 last year but don't remember shit lol.

I see. Thanks.Has anyone found all locker keys in Sotenbori yet? Still missing 4 and I seriously just can't find them. Are some keys only unlockable through substories?

They're pretty terrible, and annoyed me when I played the PS2 version of the game as well. They are outdated and too video-gamey, they're only worth it when you can perform the heat action that enables you to slam their object down on their head. Game doesn't seem to allow for that, though.REALLY don't like those enemies. They feel ... outdated. Doesn't make sense, isn't fun to play. Feels like a relic from the PS2 age.
They used a different song back then, and decided to use a 0 tune this time instead.Yo!
So, during the disco flashback in the intro, I recognized the tune in the background from Yakuza 0. Now the big question is, was this song already used in the original Yakuza 2, i.e. was it's inclusion in 0 a callback to 2, or did they use a different song back then and this one originated in 0?
There are apparently subtle differences, like his stubble, but it's largely the same model. Kinda disappointing, since there's 10 years between the events of this and 6.Edit: Also I read in one review that the Kiryu model is straight copy pasted from Yakuza 6 too?
It's definitely awkward, along with no autosave. Very odd stuff.might be nitpicking but i tested something: in takes much longer in Kiwami 2 till you enter the fights with the random thugs on the streets than in Yakuza 6. in Kiwami 2 it takes longer till you can beat the enemies, in Yakuza 6 it starts immediately after being "detected".
That is really strange because it doesn´t feel as dynamic as in Yakuza 6. These seconds you are waiting till you enter the fight add up in the longterm...

I'm pretty sure this is a compromise to increase the performance of the game world, which is now a more steady frame rate.
Also I swear there was a delay is Yakuza 6, just a shorter one.
HD clowns are hard.
yeah, that could be the reason...yesterday i encountered one of those "nouveau riche" enemies immediately after beating up a group of thugs , the guy stood there for around 6-7seconds till it entered the combat mode. at first i thought it wouldn´t trigger at all. that was the reason for me to go back to Yakuza 6 and compare the times where it definitely felt like it was faster in 6 than in Kiwami 2.
In the 6-7 hours that I played, I only had that once where I loaded the savegame and it took a few seconds for the dialogue box to come up after pressing X.Playing on a regular PS4, are occasional freezes for like 3-4 second while exploring the city normal? Didn't have those in 6.
Erm, what am I supposed to do whenthe Dojima lady gives me a key to the warehouse?
No markers or anything, just a bunch of closed doors and generic yakuza NPCs around.

Go to the first floor, to the back. There should be a golden statue of a bull mounted on the wall (has a dude right next to it who talks about it).
I get why they stuck to exactly to the game design of the original for Kiwami 1.

Be water, my friend.
How do you access that, I've received none of my pre-order items so farMajima bun item gives like 600 XP per category. Pretty good.
Then there's the one million yen they just give you for pre-ordering the digital version, lol.

Majima bun is a free item you can get from PS Store, no need to pre-order. All items are retrieved from a package at either Aoi or Serena hideouts. How do you access that, I've received none of my pre-order items so far
You guys get a free steelbook! I get some bonuses that are completely non-essential. Will probably wear the comedian outfit for awhile once I beat the game, that's about it.
I thought it was funny how it felt like 97% of the substories in Kiwami 1 were just someone bumping into you and trying to scam you out of money...then the first time I bumped into someone in Kiwami 2 it went down decidedly differently, heh.
But Hostess Ono Michio. :(Majima bun is a free item you can get from PS Store, no need to pre-order. All items are retrieved from a package at either Aoi or Serena hideouts.

I spent far too much time looking through every shelf of the Sotenbori branch. That detail...
She's a lore breaker anyway, that one. Kiryu doesn't learn of Ono Michio until 10 years later!
The moment I start hearing that theme song is the moment that I feel "yep, this is Yakuza"I spent far too much time looking through every shelf of the Sotenbori branch. That detail...
Yeah. I gotta stop and listen to the song at least once per game. Its like an unwritten rule for me at this point. The moment I start hearing that theme song is the moment that I feel "yep, this is Yakuza"
