In a year, probably 18 months, we will be looking back at 2018 and wonder what the fuck they were thinking and how such a garbage design was ever approved since Essential got it mostly right the first time around even before the iPhone X happened.

That's why I think if you're buying a phone today and expect to have it for the next 3 or 4 years, don't buy one with a notch.

It will look incredibly outdated very soon.

There have been rumors now that a 3rd Pixel is coming early next year. It will be the first actually designed by the team they purchased from HTC.

I love this video. Dude is speaking in a dark room in hushed tones like he's afraid someones is watching him. I hope all of this is true because it's hilarious.

Yeah did Ruddock forget the original original original rumors waaaayyy back last year that there might be an ultra pixel?

If he means in the current crop of rumor mill sure, but it has been discussed on Android Police no less this time last year.

Ignore all the pixel ultra bullshit. You would think people would have learned there lessons last year.

Dude is creating fake news because there is a notch hating crowd on the internet.

It's no different than creating fake news back when the Hilary Clinton hating crowd owned the web.

If there is an audience you will be provided with material (fake or not).

you guys think it's worth paying 350 dollars to get screen fixed on my brother's galaxy s8 plus? He say's he wants to wait until s10 plus to upgrade to that, so I suggested on getting something reasonable price until then.

I'm looking for a good mail app, that can correctly filter spam mail. I've been using the Gmail app for a long time but I'm sick of still ocassionally getting notifications of spam mail, even though I've blocked them or set them up to go in a separate folder inside my mailbox. (this only happens on my Yahoo accounts set up in Gmail)

so any recommendations?

Wife's new Galaxy S9 Plus camera is constantly crashing, and it's driving her nuts. Verizon's return policy runs out tomorrow, so I guess I'm swapping this out for something else. No nearby VZW stores have S9 Pluses in stock, but they do have Note 9s.

Hmm ...

Okay, are they just trolling people at this point? Stop making the notch more prominent. It's not a feature, you mad people.

That already has a top bezel as big as my Galaxy S8. Why does it need it.

Are there any good 7-8" Android tablets out there? My mum is in the market for one again.

I gave up on Android tablets, the market just went and died and the output that is there just isn't very good.

Either go 6.5+ inch Phablet or go iPad. All the Android tablets have been mediocre at best, specs wise. And a lot of them seem to be overpriced.

Honestly, she'd be alright with mid-range specs. I'm tempted to just get a new battery for her Nexus 7, she's happy with that while it's plugged in.

Ah, of course, should have realized.

In that case, there are some options. There's the Amazon tablet range that might be interesting (but you know, Amazon bloated). There's the Huawei MediaPad M3, that might be a good option. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A only has a 10.5" option so that's probably too big.

But I think that's about it unless you want to go really cheap and not have any (security) updates and outdated Android versions.

Well I tried searching amazon and 7 inch 4GB tablets only bring up ones with 4GB storage.... Aha

Maybe try setting up the spam filtering on the yahoo mail web client?

Either that or check the notification settings for Gmail and see if you can set it to just notify you of stuff in your main inbox and not other folders.

I have my Note 9 Midnight black and a Spigen Liquid Air. 600€ for a Note 8 that I bought at 650€, not bad...

And the Note is still as hot as hell. Sure, it's downloading and installing a lot of apps but I was expecting something better

It doesn't feel like I changed the phone lol

Messenger updated and added dark mode.
But removed the custom colors for conversations.
Augh.

Also, is there anyway to change the colors in contact list?
I wish I could help. I haven't been updated yet and have no clue how these updates are pushed out.

Are updates based on carrier, OEM or random?

I'm on tmo with the V30 and I'm never on the front line when it comes to releases. No messages or YouTube dark updates yet.

It looks like the Xperia XZ3 is leaking prior to tomorrows announcement:

More colors shown at the link. Here are the rumored specs:

The device is said to arrive with a 6-inch 2:1 (1440 x 2880) P-OLED (polymer-OLED) display, produced by JDI. Intriguingly, the device is said to feature "touch-sensitive side panels", which could be similar in function to the HTC U12+.

Other features include a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, single 19MP rear camera, 13MP front camera, a 3300 mAh battery and powerful stereo speakers.

If accurate then I can at least say I like the design a bit more than the XZ2. Was hoping to see the 48MP camera sensor in action, but I suppose that'll be next year.

OLED? Sony's growing up

If the rumor about the screen being from JDI is true I imagine Sony's been waiting for them to finally get their OLED production going before making the switch instead of buying from Samsung and LG.

I am curious to see how well this screen performs once the reviews hit.

What is up with that button on the bottom right? Shutter button for landscape photos?

Yup, Xperia's have had a dedicated 2-stage shutter button for many, many years. It quick launches direct to the camera as well, instead of having to use the power button or some other way of waking up the phone first.
