Literally in the OP.

Yes I saw that, but I am asking because even though the set is advertised as 3840x2160 when I was looking at resolutions in-game from my PC it let me select 4096x2160 and it seemed to work/fit the panel without any issue.

Just though it was curious is all....wasn't sure if it was actually capable of displaying the extra pixels or it just stretched the image to fit them.

So is it worth the upgrade to an LG OLED from this set? There's a deal for a refurbished b7 for $1200 at Walmart right now.

Anyone had any issues with a green flickering? Started the other, seems to go away when turned off for awhile but comes back after 90 mins...

Hoping its just a dirty ribbon cable but fear the worst.

Can someone recommend me a full articulating Mount for the 65" ks8000 that will go into brick?

Turned off automatic updates ever since they brought on Game Mode auto HDR.. is it safe to turn it back on or is there any detriment to staying on this firmware and NOT updating?

So tried out game mode for the first time. It looks kinda bad to me compared to Movie mode. By default game mode's colorspace is "Native", should that be changed if HDR is enabled?

Oh didn't know there was thread for this TV.

Anyone else get major screen dimming when connecting a pc to the TV?

Never could figure out which setting was the issue.

Only workaround I could get working was relabeling it as a game console.

You have to calibrate and adjust Game Mode just like any other mode. Your settings from Movie mode won't carry over and even if they did, they wouldn't be correct (but they might be close).

Can anyone recommend a good remote replacement, seems mine is starting to slowly die and become less and less responsive to the point I am having trouble turning the tv on or off.

Is the Eco screen dimming feature getting turned on by chance? That was driving me crazy with Netflix the other day until I found it. It's under the System menu or something instead of Picture.

Had a KS800065 for years now. I feel it's time for an upgrade. Where do I go from here? QLED? Is OLED still the top of the heap?

I finally, FINALLY fixed my flicker in 4k RGB. It was the right set of HDMI cables.

For the past year I suffered with about 5 picture resets during a roughly of 2 hours per gaming session. Usually the cutoffs happened during the first 20 minutes, but happened randomly after that.

My ps4 is connected to a Onkyo receiver, from there to the smart box.

I tried different cables without avail. Until I finally found the cables that worked, Clas Ohlson 1.5m HDMI 2.0 graded cables.

I've now gamed for about 2 months without a single cutoff in picture.

It really is the cables, even though I was 100% sure there is handshake issue between the tv and ps4 pro. Note that I switched both the ps4-onkyo and onkyo-smart box cables. I had the original hdmi cable that came with my ps4 pro.

I wish I had your luck. I even bought the belkin ultra high speed cable that is up to the hdmi 2.1 spec and I still got the issue.

So, unfortunately I now have a dead pixel on my 55" KS8000 that was purchased in December of 2016. Has anyone had experience with getting this fixed or have any knowledge on the warranty? I am going to contact Samsung but don't want to do so if they'll charge me an arm and a leg.

Has there been a consensus on whether Dynamic Contrast should be on or off for HDR?
I was so against having it on.. but I honestly believe its best to have it on when using HDR and HDR alone, the tv seems to react differently when using it with HDR content.

Ive tried many games with DC on and off with HDR, Gran Turismo Sport and Fifa especially need DC on to get the most out of them.

It would be interesting to see how much panel type plays a part in this discussion, because I have a Samsung panel and HDR looks perfect with DNC off.

In fact, my tv is so accurate out of the box that when I was shown the HDR settings upon booting up Forza Horizon 4 for the first time, I basically had to make no adjustments.

No consensus, but I prefer having it on Low for HDR content. Always Off for SDR.
Dr Zoidberg, you may be more clued up about this than me, playing HDR games on PS4 Pro, I know in the past there was a HDCP handshake issue or something, where it wouldnt go into a game in 2.2 or automatically change to 1,4 when going into an HDR game/content.
Lately its happening more frequently, and Im not sure if its because of the new PS4 update from two or so weeks ago.
To fix it, I go into settings and manually deselect and then reselect HDCP and the problem corrects itself.

Question, could that be an HDMI cable issue? Im using the HDMI the PS4 pro came with.

I've had this TV since the PS4 Pro launch, also picked up an Xbox One X along the way. DC "should" be off, but many games are too dark and require it to be used. Best answer is that it differs on a game by game basis.

I had ads disabled by not acknowledging the terms and conditions, but at some point a firmware update annoyingly bypassed this.

Anyway, it turns out that it's easy enough to disable them if your router supports site level blocking - which my linksys router does. I just added the following sites to the parental controls setting for the TV and ads seem to have gone away (so far at least).

samsungads.com
ads.sumsungads.com
samsungtvads.com

I think you can also do this by running a DNS server locally and configuring the TV to go there but as my router supports it I didn't bother looking into it.

New firmware update.. safe to download? I'm always paranoid of stuff reverting
The update notification popped up for me too, but I'm not installing it, the TV is working fine as is. There was a version last year that auto-installed itself even though I have that feature turned off so I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again.

EDIT: fucking lol, when I just got home and turned my TV on I got another notification telling me the firmware had been updated. I guess one thing that they didn't fix is the auto update = off feature being broken...

So my TV automatically updated and now when i play my Switch, the TV goes black every 10 seconds. Audio is still playing through. I haven't changed any cables at all and I never had this issue since I bought the TV.

It doesn't do this with the other hdmi inputs for my ps4, pc, and xbox.

You're plugged directly in to the TV, yes? Just checking as this has happened to me occasional with an HDMI switch that I use. Usually changing inputs and then changing back solves it. So are you completely unable to use your Switch? Have you tried changing inputs?

So i unplugged and replugged every cable. Still had the issue

...Then I just did it again for the hell of it and now no issues lol

So, I've gotten an RTX 2080 recently, and also they forced that KS8000 update recently, and now I'm running into a somewhat annoying issue. I run all my consoles and PC with Black level set to Low (i.e. limited range). This has never been a problem but recently my set has been automatically setting Black Level to Normal (i.e. Full range) somehow which is a pain in the butt. I suspect the PC is causing it. I'll be playing a game and suddenly realize that black things like space are suddenly dark gray. I have to go back into the menu and set it back to Low. This doesn't happen every time or even most of the time but some combination of factors is causing it. I don't like running everything on Normal/Full because older consoles like Wii U don't support it so you'd have to constantly mess with the setting but this recent issue is making me do that anyway.

I'll be honest and say I'm not sure. I know if you are experiencing picture random black-outs/drop-outs that a cable is the most likely cause, but I seem to recall someone saying that they did introduce an HDCP issue in a recent firmware so maybe that will be fixed on Sony's end.

I went ahead and ordered new HDMI cables... very interesting results.
It seems to have fixed the HDCP issues I was having.
Ive been trying them out for about a week now and haven't had the issue happen, not even a single time!
Could the 4K HDMI cable I got with the PS4 pro really have deteriorated like that by itself? The HDCP problem kept getting worse and worse as time went on.

When I had my KS8000, I had nothing but trouble with the included HDMI cable from the Pro. Bought another cable and stopped getting the blackouts.

Wow... didnt think the included cable was of inferior quality. The cable I got is a CE-Link 4K cable, its like 8 dollars, its 3M long and its fixed the issues. I also havnt seen these weird white flashes I used to see at the top of the screen from time to time. It would just flash for a split second, then stop. Guess the Sony cable sucks.

The included Pro HDMI cable also gave me troubles. Replacing it fixed everything.

remote for this tv is trash

Agreed, I keep having problems with mine. Can't turn on the tv sometimes, can;t turn it off or change volume... Super fucking annoying.

I found that unplugging the TV and waiting a few moments before plugging it back in fixed any remote issues I had.

Wish there was a better remote we could use with this set that isn't a Harmony remote.
