I will take an arcade-y 2 on 2 basketball game! Don't care for the characters too much, but there are not enough good arcade sports titles

I highly doubt Nicalis would be making a game without their established characters tbh. They love the crossovers.
We don't even have confirmation if this is nicalis or a pet project by someone who works at nicalis

Nicalis is really becoming one of my favorite publishers. Blade Strangers is a lot of fun, Crystal Crisis looks amazing, Ikaruga is fantastic and I'm probably one of the few that likes Code of Princess. If they can produce a decent JRPG, a 3D platformer and finally deliver on 90s Arcade Racer, they'll have a hand in all my favorite genres.

Tyrone is the founder. I doubt he'd post it if something weren't coming. He posted Curly and Quote 3D models a couple years before they resurfaced in Crystal Crisis.
Looks janky and I'm already bored with the same handful of indie all-stars popping up in every game. I'm going to yawn so hard when Shovel Knight is announced.

Are Nicalis actually cleaning up their act as a publisher these days? Last I checked reputation was in the shitter. 90s Arcade Racer still isn't out.

Despite it being something of an attractive feature, the fact that this game is a crossover is actually turning me off from it due to how ugly almost all Nicalis characters are. Same happened with Blade Strangers.
They might be cleaning up their appearances but that doesn't mean they're not still shitty; not like their management's changed.
It makes me sad every time they milk Cave Story.

I just hope the terms of the contract pixel signed was worth it, given he appears to have given away all rights to the cave story characters to nicalis.

It frustrates me when they do this. IIRC Tyrone sporadically posted pictures of a 3D model of Quote without any context given for like 2 years before finally announcing that crossover Puzzle Fighters game too.
