Halo 2 anniversary really benefits from the 4K, the lighting is often able to look far more natural without the jags.

The "right thing to do" is long in the past, so that's not really the issue anymore. To be very frank, I am a big CE player and literally nobody who LANs CE (as if anybody LANs Halo anymore) does so using MCC, so to that extent a large part of my personal Halo experience is basically unaffected by whatever goes down in MCC.

If 343 wants to work on MCC out of a strange completionist motivation, then that's their prerogative and having a more functional Halo title is never a bad thing. However, 343 is under the corporate thumb of Microsoft and has more or less been directed to turn Halo into a cash cow. This is undeniable - we wouldn't have seen "Halo of Duty" for two iterations in a row, followed by "Halo Royale" with an embarrassingly barebones launch except for the loot system which was quite developed.

That's why this is weird. This is not a moneymaking venture.

Some of you guys are getting unnecessarily rattled by my posts, I'm just going to say that. It's a little weird actually.

Yes, I do consider it a fact. That fact being that there will be no detectable influx of fresh or returning blood into the Halo community because of an MCC experience at roughly 75%. Again, if you disagree, well that's dandy.

Just to be clear, I take it you aren't going to be playing MCC? I mean what would be the point?

Okay, you have got to be trolling. That's because Offline LAN support was just added today. Ever thought of that? Now people can and will use MCC for Halo 1 LANs.

This is not the same Microsoft anymore, thus 343 isn't under the same directions anymore. What they've done with MCC clearly shows it, and this bodes well for Infinite.

Just to be clear, I take it you aren't going to be playing MCC? I mean what would be the point?

My main source of enjoyment in Halo has always been playing competitively. That enjoyment is extremely hampered when shots decide to not register.

That said, I don't go full-sweatlord all the time. I play Troy, I play tower of power, I play infinite stickies only, I play zombies, I play Boarding Action sniper CTF, I play hide and seek, I play sniper FFAs, I play Containment bumper cars, so on and so forth.

What I am enduringly disappointed by is how Halo going completely off the rails essentially killed part of my life, which was going to Halo LANs and huge Halo tournaments. I have many fond memories and many lasting friendships from that period in my life.

MCC, incidentally, was going to be a way to rekindle a lot of those friendships and recreate a lot of those memories.

Needless to say, that did not happen.

Please leave this OT. Ask your parents to loan you $15, buy pleasesomeonelistentome.com, and start a blog there instead.

Boy, not sure I've ever had a point made for me this strongly before.

.

This narrative needs to die.

In case you hadn't noticed, Halo was a Sci-Fi game before Call of Duty was .

Advanced Warfare was announced a full 2.5 years after Halo 4 came out. 343i were not sitting on Pinterest twiddling their thumbs punning mood boards together of game features they wanted to steal.

Titanfall (call of duty with mechs!!!111) was announced and launched before Call of Duty went Sci-Fi . What does that mean Call do Duty , is ? Call of Duty with mechs without mechs?!

There have been very clear and definitive changes within the genre as a whole to improve locamotion, it is not limited to just Halo and Call of Duty.
Making these reductive and forcefully negative comparison , quite frankly makes you look childish and idiotic.

That's before I even comment on how you've tried to revise history by suggesting that that they are just copy popular franchises by calling Halo 5 a battle royale game....
Are you a time travelling Halo troll, or something even more bizarre?

Just gonna say...skeptical.

I'm all for being proven wrong. I want to be proven wrong. I've been left disappointed for a long time over many iterations.

Wait, did i miss something?

"Halo MOBA" was what I meant to say there, actually.

lol, just to clear, you didn't answer my question about whether you were going to play the MCC, right?

I can do the casual stuff on MCC just fine.

Now I'm even more confused.

What year is this?

He's travelled back in time to warn us that in the year 2015 , Halo 5 : Guardians released and every game in the industry copied it to become a Battle Royale game.

Fortnite , originally a Tower defense game release an usurped Halo 5 as the ultimate battle royal game.

So they had to bring a 10 year Halo vet out of retirement to help put things right and erase Frank O'Connor, the eccentric inventor of Halo 5 Battle Royale.

Will give this a shot this weekend. I was planning to marathon Red Dead Redemption this Labor Day weekend and see how far I can go. But I'm going to give the multiplay a try. It's been over a decade since I last played the chief.

Ah well, at least the last two pages have given us some humour!

Does anyone have a good video on how to jungle in Halo?

Well it's a calculated punt, how much is it worth risking a little bit of brand value, to poke fun at someone on the Internet?

In this very specific case it seemed worth it to me. (both sides of the equation are very small in value/risk/satisfaction).

Shut it down then 343. Nobody who LANs CE (the largest and most important crowd) is using MCC so might as well cancel the update and shut down the servers.

That's why this is weird. This is not a moneymaking venture.

I would presume this has been driven by Game Pass and the desire to have every Halo game on there. Having (a working) MCC on Game Pass make the service loads more valuable. Revenue comes in via Game Pass = moneymaking for MS.[/QUOTE]

You know what would be nice? Population numbers.

They were always useful in past Halo games, and it really sucks how multiplayer games have gotten so prudish over showing them. It was a great way to see whether it was worth it to sit in a matchmaking lobby. If you had problems finding it match, it was useful for figuring out whether you were having connection issues or if the population was just low for the playlist.

What?

Halo CE literally saved the Xbox, Halo 2 birthed online console multiplayer as we know it today, and Halo 3 dominated XBL for almost two straight years.

Reach's population declined linearly over its lifespan, Halo 4 was such a disaster that it's the reason we don't have an in-game population counter anymore, MCC was MCC, and Halo 5's "brand power" had it sell underwhelmingly and currently has it sitting at 25th on the top games list.

Look, maybe you guys are right that this isn't the thread for this, but this is silly. Halo is not doing well.
Ohh I see, you're one of those "Halo isn't relevant" people huh. I won't waste my time anymore then lol.

Anddd it's still as shit as ever here in Australia. Got into a game of Halo 3 after waiting for 4 minutes (which is relatively quick, compared to how it was), and haven't been able to get a game since. Fucking 343i. This is the 10th time they've lifted me up, only to let me down :(

Hopefully it's just a transient problem, and things will fix soon

Can't even get a game in NZ.

Maybe game pass will help.

The update is fantastic, but Jesus H, could they please get rid of the Halo Channel bullshit when I watch a terminal?

It's absolute trash. When you watch a terminal, it should play right from the game. None of this loading forever into the app and then it skips when it plays. Please.

Me too. But it was no big deal changing it. I feel bad for those who had it set to korean or something else which looks totally different than their main language.

But holy shitsnacks the improvement is noticable. I continued my save game mid Halo 3, and the game is something else now. Even on my 1080p monitor. Fantastic update.

this is not an issue with the game. It is an issue of a low playerbase and they don't pair you with people from europe or stuff.

You really can't blame 343 for this one.

That's likely a player base issue.

Hopefully when it's released on gamepass it should be a bit smoother.

I always felt like this collection got an unfairly bad rap.

Yes the multiplayer wasn't perfect, but it still bundled all of the mainline games in 1 package. As a predominantly PlayStation focused person who had only ever played 3, it was nice to be able to go back and play great versions of the games I missed out on. The Nathan Drake collection that came out a year after didn't even include any multiplayer.

Except it isn't. Games with far lower populations than Halo manage it. Multiplayer games on 360 still fill lobbies more reliably here, than is currently the case with MCC. And Australia isn't the middle of bumfuck nowhere. Even in the Halo 3 playlist, it's taking forever - and that's not due to a dearth of playercount.

Of course our lower player count exacerbates wait times. But that shouldn't entail that we can't find games whatsoever.

A lot of MP games on 360 dont use dedicated servers or have regional search/lock

See, this is exactly why population numbers would be incredibly useful. I can never tell if there's a problem on my end or if there's no one playing. The lack of numbers makes the whole game feel dead.

I wonder how many people are still waiting for this to download before jumping into the queues.

I could only play H1 doubles last night as my mates connection was taking forever. We got smashed but could have been worse if we hadn't been playing the anniversary playlist on H5.

The day after it jumps in game pass should be a treat.

Yeah by next week the population should be pretty good.
