If UFO 50 isn't announced for Switch tomorrow, I'll be pretty disappointed. It's retro inspired, it runs in Game Maker, it's perfect for the platform.

UFO 50 is supposed to show up at PAX, and I imagine the nindie showcase will show off some games that will be playable at PAX, so maybe! I'm probably just setting myself up for disappointment though.

Not sure what's SEGA's whole deal with Dotemu is right now or if they're considered indie but here's hoping SOR4 gets announced for Switch today.

That's not an indie game. So, no.

it has shovel knight and he only turns up for indies games i think

more seriously, hope they have some nice suprises in stock - i love it whenever these streams drop something that i had completely no idea about on us

its not about smash being a indie game... but maybe we could have a indie newcomer for smash. (although we already have shovel knight as a assist...)
or maybe.... MAYBE... Travis for smash :P (which could make sense in this nindie context)

(anyway, Suda wanted him in :P)

No. That doesn't make sense either. They're not going to overshadow their indie business partners with Smash in the Nindies Presentation.

100% confirmed during today's indie showcase:
Lots and lots of people spamming "SMASH!" in the youtube chat.

in what way is that overshadowing? it would be the tipical announcement after the presentation. and it also serves as promotion for the new "indie" game of travis.

its like assuming that all the games that are in a normal direct are overshadowed by the final seconds of the presentation... its enough that they are being highlighted by their own presentation.
they can perfectly have the usual nindie direct finishing with the travis game and a final smash trailer, and nobody would think that they are overshadowing anything
at worst, many people tend to watch directs specting a smash trailer at the end! so the direct has more audience xd

No. It's not remotely the same as a "typical announcement". We'll disagree.

i can agree in that nindies used to be more "lighthearted" but, IF they are including the new travis game in that lot... and as they even showcased that in the main switch presentation in january, then is not farfetched to think that it will serve as a bridge title between indies and big leagues. in any way, a excuse for this to happen

Of course if there is no mention of the travis game today, then i would agree with you (i didnt expect anything about the last shadowdroped nindie presentation)
But the announcement part makes me hope :P

I'm okay with not a lot of AAA games on Switch, but at least put good indies like Life is Strange 2 on it not just years old ports

During the spring indie showcase, they mainly focused on games that were either unknown or unannounced or unreleased on any platform (and people started criticizing the games for being unknown to them). Don't know if "years old ports" would be relevant in this context of this thread.

The indie showcase is produced by NoA, not by NCL, and very much related to PAX.

With the game seemingly being on track to release by the end of the year, I hope Fight Knight is announced for Switch. The demo was a great proof of concept.

I'd explode if La-Mulana 2 is announced for Switch. Probably way too soon considering it just released on the PC, though.

The Devs said at Gamescom that they want to get the PC release out first then they are going to begin looking at consoles (XBox one, PS4 and Switch) but god i so want this game on my Switch. There is an interview with them on IGN

Is Firewatch even an indie game if Campo Santo is being merged into Valve? I mean, it *was* an indie game, but is it now?

Man, I am so hype towards TPH. I am going to buy it on PC at release. If they decide to drop it on Switch, I will probably be there too.

In what world is LiS a indie game ? lol
Also there are plenty of great new indie titles on Switch...what a weird narrative, just because that one game isnt coming to Switch. There are a bunch of midtier games that can and should arrive to Switch at some point...but its not like port of old indie game X prevents new titles from happening. DotNoD have their hands full with a bunch of projects right now and they + their publishers dont think expanding to Switch is worth the effort.

It's nice having these presentations to look forward too. We had Nintendo Directs and now we have Nindies Presentations. It keeps most of the year fresh with new news.

Minecraft isn't. It should be the same for Firewatch.

Oh, I get it. Would Firewatch be announced as a Nindie? Does it still qualify. Interesting!

First, many people say that the Indie Spotlight by NoE focused on European developers, so it would have made sense to be there. Unless NoA takes the biggest ones for Nindies, even if they are from Europe. I don't know. Firewatch should continue to be seen as an Indie from a historical perspective. But going forward? I don't know.

The difference between Minecraft and Firewatch is that Minecraft is actively developed and changed by Microsoft, rather than just being ported. My view is once and indie, always an indie. But that Minecraft does not count for two reasons. First, it's been completely rebuilt anyway, by Microsoft. Second, it's been actively developed by Microsoft. Neither of which are true of Firewatch.

If I were Nintendo, I would put Firewatch in with the indies. Because it's an accurate reflection of the feel of the game and its history. But either way would make sense to me.
