Man some of you guys are weird when it comes to marketing. I swear people here would rather PR people never say anything versus talk up their brand. Like does t really bother you that much what Greenberg says? In sports every player and team says they are the best and nobody cares. Why is it such an issue here

Decisive Games never really made it off the ground. It was an internal "team" not a full fledged studio (kind of like Team Dakota and the Xbox Fitness teams). They ended up "outsourcing" the grunt work if dev for things like RoN and Age DE to port studios, and went with outside devs for Halo Wars and Age IV

London, United Kingdom.
I've asked about Decisive Games and what happened to it multiple times in the old thread (original OT) and I remember people telling me Decisive Games was just a label for strategy games (not actually a full new studio) and the people hired by it made Halo Wars 2.

Also 343 Industries didn't have a strategy team (led by Dan Ayoub who has now left 343 for the HoloLens team) before Decisive Games so it made sense to me when people told me that.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-studio-head-for-strategy-games-leaves-team-to/1100-6449986/

Halo Studio Head for Strategy Games leaves 343 Industries for HoloLens Team.

To me this statement and clarification means that 343 planned to make multiple strategy games or had a second strategy team.
So, is that mean Decisive Games wasn't closed and just moved to the 343i? In short words.

Why is it always the Spiderman avatar guys, lmao.

I have a Spider Man avatar and I didn't get upset. Hell, I don't even know why anyone would be getting upset over what will be a great game.

Anyway.....has anyone watched the new Ashen gameplay video? Except for the very noticeable pop-in, game looks very good and im very interested. While majority will most likely disagree, if not's December, im hoping that it gets delayed to 2019.

God Damn, Playground are just in a different league compared to Turn 10 nowadays, so glad MS snapped them up.

I always laugh when I see this. T10 owns the Forza engine which makes that possible and many from T10 contribute to development on the Horizon franchise.

It really is an example of what a good collaboration can deliver. T10 has even sent devs overseas for months to help with Horizon. What was nice was PG got to focus much more on their strengths while T10 provided an incredible core engine and development support for that engine.

Both franchises get to leverage various things from each other , both systems and architecture wise although they often choose to implement things differently.

People would be pretty shocked at how short the actual development cycle for FM has been in recent years because of the support provided from critical T10 team members from various disciplines for Horizon.

Personally staying away from footage of the game now that I'm sold on it. Really dug the demo at Pax East this year and everything I had seen before then looked outstanding.

Good post.

Turn 10 also has to target 60fps on base consoles, something which PG doesn't have to worry about. The fact that Forza 7 looks so much better than Forza 6 while maintaining 60fps on the OG X1 is a testament to that team's talent.

It's the Spider-Man avatars superimposed over other characters really. Yours is a regular Spidey avatar lol

Ashen is looking great but I'm not a fan of the lack of swords. It just feels dumb not to include them.

Who would have known MS would have the best racing series with Forza and Horizon. A nice one-two combo of circuit and open world racing. Ya, ya, I know GT and Mario Kart sell more. But let's face it, MS churns out great racing games on a timely basis. Games are AAA production values.

Who would have known MS would have got this far with racing games when all they started with in the Forza universe was Forza 1 on Xbox OG in 2005. They didn't get around to Forza 2 until 2007 or 2008.

I'm sold on the game as well. Just waiting to see when they announce a release date.

Oh, okay. I honestly don't like putting one character over another in the same avatar. Simply prefer just the one character.

I agree. Wish there was swords in the game but it looks great and hopefully, plays the same.

Even with the first Forza, Turn 10 was already doing more with their first entry than Polyphony Digital had ever done with Gran Turismo.
They were already implementing mechanical damage and had a better AI model, the latter is something that GT has always struggled with.

Not to mention the better management of cutting, the racing line, the better graphics, and so on. By the time GT even delivered a somewhat current iteration back then (GT5), Forza 3 was already out with (for the time) practically photorealistic graphics (a massive leap from 2), a refined driving model, great AI, etc. etc.. Both Turn 10 and Playground are incredible studios at making driving games, that's for sure.

Were they using a last generation engine when they made Forza Motorsport 2 for the Xbox 360?

There was a huge jump in graphics and by the time they released Forza 4, it was the best racing game of that generation. The one thing I want to see implemented on their next title is dynamic weather on all tracks, a day and night cycle and fuel consumption economy that plays into pit strategy. I hope that it is true that they are not making anything for 2019 and that the added development time allows them to make these changes.

Turn 10 and Playground make for a good partnership. It would have been a waste for Microsoft not to buy them seeing how well they collaborate with Turn 10.

Please, Mr Spencer. Please tell me you've seen the (north)light and commissioned AW2.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/remedy-is-working-on-a-third-unannounced-game/

I think its been know for a while though there has been confusion whether the thrid team is on game or engine duty? Although I did find this article over on GI Biz and this particular quote stood out to me.

"We're a multi-project studio, we're slowly building a third team. With Control, it's redefining Remedy again. We made two very linear story-driven game and again we're going to have the story but in a game that's a lot more adventurous," Puha said. "Hopefully, it's something we can keep building more in the years to come. I feel very good about it. As a company, we're in a very good place."

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-08-22-remedy-building-third-development-team

Alan Wake would simply be the MEGATON that could set Xbox up- perfectly trasitioning into next gen. Do it, Phil! DO IT!!!

MS and Remedy have had a long relationship and I'm sure they'd like to keep working together were it makes sense and now with game pass in the mix, I can see MS working again with Remedy on an episodic title or a sequel to AW for next gen. All the interviews post E3 have had Matt , Phil and even Aaron talking about putting their fans first and making decisions around that.... And I don't think that statement is only about hardware. I also think on the software side we will see a lot of games fans have been clamouring for making a huge return and with MS doubling down on content for game pass they will need to double down on 1st party while also working with as many devs as possible including those they've worked with before. A higher budget to work with also means they can now take more risks and try out new stuff and that's something they couldn't do before.. Ambitious projects they could have seen as major risks before now have a better chance at being green lit.

I'd absolutely love an Alan Wake sequel ,but I think at this point a Quantum Break 2 would excite me even more. We need to save Beth :(

Haha everyone calm down.

You know we are not getting AW2 or QB2 or anything from Remedy besides Control. Is better to forget about it and move on. It will hurt less.

Control is basically QB2 from what I've seen of the trailer. Similar art style, similar character models, I think the character looks almost identical to Beth, the gameplay and effects look the same.

To me it reminds me of Sony/FromSoftware's Demon Souls and Bandai/FromSoftware's Dark Souls situation.

Exactly. Thats as close as we are going to get to QB2.

What a shame MS cut that deal with Remedy. It is obvious Remedy wanted a QB 2 right after the first one.

Great post, I feel the same anytime someone says something like T10 needs to learn from PG.

I don't think that comparison is even remotely valid. Control looks very much like its own game, and any similarities with Quantum Break are only superficial. I do believe that we will get both Quantum Break 2 and Alan Wake 2 eventually, the only questions are when and how.

:( It will always hurt. I used to at least hope that we'd get some Beth DLC or something (obviously before we found out about Remedy going multiplatform). Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting to ever get AW or QB sequels, but that doesn't mean I can just forget about those experiences :(

Control does look good though, and I am looking forward to it, but it in no way replaces QB for me.
