reading through it

The context doesnt' SEEM as bad but
The two shared some great stories about candidates they pursued who were critical to getting League of Legends shipped in those first harrowing months of launching. Then they shared an example of how one candidate did not take an offer initially, but because we persevered and followed up, they eventually did take our offer. At the end of that example, Brandon laughed and said, "I was about to say something." He paused, and then went on to say, "No doesn't necessarily mean no."

the language in the way it is used is well

a big yikes from me.

reading on a bit, everyone in the hall laughed at that bit and like

yeah

that's fucking problematic

COME ON RIOT, GET IT TOGETHER.

gonna be honest

Cyberpunk 2077 really doesn't do anything for me

then again I only liked TW3, I didn't really love it. It took me 2 years of playing it to finish it because I just never had the drive to just go all in on it, only play it for like 2 or 3 days then quite for a few months.

I might not get Spider-man either

But I made sure to preorder Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Monster Hunter GU!

and Dragon Quest XI

And Vesperia remaster

and Valkyria 4

hmm.

Not only that but they double and triple down on it

I'm reading through it slowly, taking it in.
I recall it mentioning that hyper-sensitive people who didn't understand intent were a problem we needed to address at Riot. I closed that email thread, and immediately below it there was a meeting invite titled "Riot Voice and Sense of Humor" set for when everyone returned from the company trip. The invite included the co-founders Marc (my boss) and Brandon, the head of Communications, the head of Legal, and myself.

FUCKING

YIKES

It's like that cyberpunk tweet.

When you use that specific term.

Like, it could be a coincidence.

But C'mon.

The joke is clearly reappropriating rape apologist terminology, the only question is whether you think that is OK or not.

EDIT: For the record, I don't have a huge issue with it and I certainly don't see it as condoning rape or anything like that. The most alarming thing in his post is the workplace language used by his co-workers imo.

Sure

like

in a vacuum I don't have a problem with the language used, but really, this is 2018, and after the expose from kotaku, these things add up and you start questioning whether it is reappropriated or whether it's simply feeding into the culture or a byproduct of it. and that is problematic

I completely forgot about the Vesperia remaster. They still haven't announced a release date for that, right?

In a vacuum the joke doesn't even make sense. The joke literally is "we used the rapist phrase about something that isn't rape". Like I said, the only question is whether you think making that joke is OK or not.

In a vacuum away from the article kotaku did.

If this was a business thread, and it was something like, 'Never let a client go. No, doesn't necessarily mean no', that context would fit.

but after the kotaku expose, then well, that phrase takes a deeper meaning and it's indicative of the culture of rito at the time.

Nah, the way the article phrased it as how he paused and laughed shows that he clearly knows he's saying some shit.

so happy someone from GB is lovin' siege

Yeah, seeing Dan so into the game is making me want to go back and play it regularly like when it first released back in the day. I think It's the best MP game of this generation when it comes to FPS games.
God JW1 was such a better movie.
That's one of the best scenes in the film. It clearly knows what it is and is having a fuck ton of fun with it.

Yeah, I'm saying he intentionally used a rapist phrase and reappropriated to something that isn't rape. That is literally the joke and there is no innocent way to interpret it. The question is whether you think making a joke like that is OK, not whether or not the joke was offensive. It was intended to be offensive.

The narration from the dev in the Cyberpunk trailer is so god damn bad lol
Most people can't pull off the Rockstar voice. They REALLY can't.

Cyberpunk 2077 just seems like dudebro cyberpunk prioritizing shock value, hyper-gore, and flashy tech over actually being punk or meaningfully questioning the meaning of humanity.

Only thing I'm not feeling about Cyberpunk are the first-person cut-scenes.

I always liked seeing Geralt react to whatever conversations or events were taking place.
