I'm sure no on in your family has ever used another racial slur against a different race then ever... The idea that you would be punished for it and denied a job is dumb, come on now.

Huh? I'm punished by society at large for just being black, so this angle you're trying to pursue seems dumb as fuck.

I don't really care this dude lost his sponsorship cuz his dad was too used to saying racist shit.

How many times are you going to post in this thread saying you don't care about the thread topic?

Your lack of nuance annoys me as much as right-wing hypocrisy.

Dad says something once out of ignorance, apologizes and vows to do better.....but nah this mistake has to keep on giving for 35 YEARS.

Obviously it sucks for Conor that he is losing a sponsor because of something his father said before he was even born, but its only a sponsor. Its not like he got fired or banned from racing. He will have to find another sponsor sure, but its not the end for him.

And they can sponsor whoever or whatever they want. Their business is diabetes, not NASCAR. Sponsors pull out of sponsorship all the time for a plethora of reasons. It doesnt really need justification. Sponsorship is not employment

His dad said it THIRTY FIVE years ago. 35. 9 years before he was even born. What is wrong with you? This kind of shit is part of the problem and just feeds into the right-wing hate machine and justifies them.

Hope Conor lands on feet. Would like that team to come back on TAR in another season. Good night.

Unless they have proof that his son is actually racist too, this seems really really stupid and not thought out.

I disagree with my parents on a shit ton of issues. Its wrong to just automatically treat someone's kids like they're dirtbags too.

You have to let them earn that first like the Trumps do.

Do you guys have reading comprehension problems or something?

His father shouldn't have said that racist shit. The fact that his son lost his job over it is a consequence for his racist actions.

Y'all can be mad at that if you want to be.

I'm not, though. I don't feel sorry for him. Just because you don't like my response doesn't mean I'm off topic lol

Ridiculous reason to pull a sponsorship that only makes things worse by trivializing real problems that are still present today. Glad that the driver is taking it in stride and acting professionally.

It also reminds me that this is another year that I've forgotten about Road America until the week beforehand. It's been way too long since I went to a race there and I'd love to go back. My dad took me there every year in high school and I haven't been back since, we always watched the race from the hill overlooking turn 5 which always has some tense moments

Punishing people for shit that happened before they were born doesn't do anyone any good. That's what you're missing. Maybe you don't care but that would be sad so don't be that guy.

I mean i do get the irony.

Dude was punished for something that had nothing to do with him, which is pretty similar to the effects of racism. Black people are punished for shit they didn't earn.

It probably does feel pretty fucking bad. But imagine that shit with nearly all facets of life.

Can you imagine if the early days of Xbox live chat was recorded? There would be millions of white people losing there jobs annually.

Edit: days not daycare

I'm not missing anything, though.

If his dad hadn't said that shit, he wouldn't be here now.

Of course, he can't choose who his dad is, but I'm not sad he lost his spot cuz his dad said some racist shit.

If that bothers you, feel free to ignore my responses.

TT is wrong, but the fuck is this?

What about it? Eli Lilly's stupid actions are the kind of unjustifiable and insane reactionary bullshit that the right believes actually happens constantly and fears. It feeds right into their nonsense and is a horrible move on their part.

The guy did absolutely nothing, said absolutely nothing, and is being punished for a single thing that his father said nearly a decade before he was born. It's pretty obvious that it's the kind of thing that the right will eat up.

Seems a bit harsh considering it was his dad but you could argue he's only a driver because of his racist pops.

Children should never be held responsible for their parent's sins, especially not for something like this, or we're doing down a dark path here. I know you later noted it was playing devil's advocate, but the sentiment seemed genuine enough and a few others seemed to agree.

Y'all are missing my point, though.

Not that I didn't expect this.

This forum is full of performative wokeness.

Yeah, that kind of wokeness where you get punished for the sins of another, in another lifetime.

You stood up on a hill cause you saw what word caused the 'offense'. Problem is you stopped thinking at that point and when people stop thinking their opinions become ignorant.

Then fucking make one.

Just because it's flying over your head doesn't mean I haven't made it.

I don't feel sorry a white dude lost his job over something his dad did - that was racist - when black people are persecuted for just existing as a certain skin color and their descendants stripped of opportunities regardless of what their parents did.

This dude got a taste of what black people have been going through in this country for centuries.

He wouldn't have had to if white people just weren't fucking racist, yet here we are.

This wouldn't happen if y'all just weren't racists.

You're about a half a step away from saying all white people need to lose their 'sponsorships' so to speak. I'm impressed.

Yeah, I think all white families should be punished for their racism.

Comparing mandatory minimum sentencing - which impacts black people more than whites anyways - to me feeling white people should be punished for their racism is hilarious to me.

I mean, I already am. I'm black.

Then you'll realize that it's still wrong regardless of skin color. there's this thing called empathy, it's something you can learn if you ever take your head out of your ass but I doubt you will because I've met and lived with people like you. You're the type of person who can't be reasoned with because there will always be that hatred in your heart. I grew up with a hate filled racist father and thankfully I also had an awesome compassionate mother who raised me right so I would be different from him completely. From my experience, people like him and you can't be reasoned with. You're a lost cause.
