Excited for the season to start. Ready to go for an unprecedented in the modern era 4 peat:

Fuck yeah.

You telling me the same people that named UCF champs in '17 named us champs in '16?

Lmfaaaaaooooooo sure. Why not?

Yeah, I mean what choice do we have? Still, it shouldn't be that hard to set this offense up for Franks to succeed given the talent. Now I don't know how the OL is going to look but it can't be that bad.

Just seems like everyone around us can put young QBs in and have them playing well enough to make the offense look competent or even great. Our one bright spot at QB was Grier - before and after we might as well have had paper fucking bags at the position.

I haven't been paying any attention to Florida (or really anyone else but us) but I assumed Emory Jones would compete and I haven't heard a thing about him. Has he not looked good at all?

Hasn't looked good enough to beat our 2nd year guy for the job, clearly. Plenty of athleticism and I'm optimistic about his future but obviously not polished enough to be starter. We sort of expected as much.

The only things that explain Florida's total incompetence at offense are either a Faustian bargain for Tebow, or Saban putting a hex on Florida during his ascension. Former Florida QBs have done quite well: Will Grier pumped up as a Heisman candidate at WVU, Jacoby Brissett had a good career at NC State and seems to be a solid NFL backup, Tyler Murphy had a solid year at BC, and Jeff Driskel recovered well enough at LA Tech to hang onto an NFL roster spot.

Yeah it really is puzzling. Will Grier played well here so that one not as much but the others for sure. Brissett couldn't seem to hit the broad side of a fucking barn and goes and has two 300yd passing games in the pros. Da fuq.

Anyway, obviously it's a mix of poor recruiting, poor coaching and conditioning, problems with the supporting cast (which in turn was also poor recruiting, coaching, conditioning) and injuries/suspensions. Everyone has those, though, and they've somehow managed not to be the worst fucking offense in CFB for like 3 years in a row.

I swear you could give us Hawaii's QB right now and he'd make this shit look decent and he's a 2-star who was the 2258th nationally-ranked player according to 247, lol.

I mean, I fully expect us to run the ball about 60% of the time with all the RBs we have but yeah, it all falls on the OL and Franks to determine our season. The would be surprised to see Trask be the starter by Tennessee though.

Well Scott Frost May have messed up his QB handling.

He inherited. RS Fr Gebbia who is damn good and basically he and Starting QB Tru FR Adrian Martinez were neck and neck all camp.

Frost decided mid last week, asked the staff, and told them sat or Sun.

Gebbia quit the team and is transferring today, if he hits a school on the trimester system (aka UCLA) he can likely make this his transfer year and still have 3 to play 3.

The other QB transfer from UCF is ineligible this season, so Frost has a true frosh, a walk on, and some dude at QB in an offense that has been known to go through QBs.

On one hand, good on him for being clear about where people stood, but maybe a 2 QB system and going the Saban route to ensure he had a solid back-up.

We shall see

Saban has two QBs because Jalen is staying through Graduation regardless of the position battle. That is on him as much as it is on Saban 'managing' the competition.

See Blake Barnett 2 years ago who ran off when he didn't respond after being benched. Cooper Bateman bailed too but at least stayed through the season.

Like I am all for players transferring, but I think it says a lot more about the player when their response to losing a position battle is to quit the team. On one hand I am like sure go get yours and take care of yourself, and yet on the other hand I want to see them respond by trying to earn the job back, be available if something pops up etc.

Going back to Blake Barnett I think the Staff knew he was gone before the Ole Miss struggle win in 2016, paper work takes time to file etc, so he didn't get in that game to replace Jalen because the staff knew he quit.

I think what I would like is to eliminate the one year waiting period so players like Gebbia can stay, still compete, possibly contribute and yet leave at the end of the season.

Much to the surprise of nobody, Kelly Bryant (Clemson) and Deandra Francois (FSU) are starters for week 1.

Maybe it was a media thing, but i remember there being some brief competition for QB1 at Clemson. Maybe that was just hot air?

Initial depth chart for us just got released. Got the "double or" at QB with no clear starter amongst the 3 -

Is there a way to see your conference picks after you submit them? Because I forgot to copy them before I sent it out.

He just needs do work on his accuracy before Mullen would ever name him starter. He's shown flashes of what the future holds for him but just not right now. He will play in certain packages during the season though.

Danke.

Ah shit. Completely missed that last page

No worries.

There have been enough requests that I may try to put it up tomorrow, but school just started back for me so it depends how much I can get done while somewhat paying attention in class.

Speaking of which, I mentioned this in the Discord, but if you have any requests for the Week 1 OT, please let me know. The early season OTs tend to attract the most outsiders, so it needs to look more presentable than usual.

nah, no rush. Do your thing. I just didn't want to post my season prediction right before the new thread went up.

My FSU Football 2018 Season Prediction:

Schedule:

Sept. 3 vs. Virginia Tech

Sept. 8 vs. Samford

Sept. 15 at Syracuse

Sept. 22 vs. Northern Illinois

Sept. 29 at Louisville

Oct. 6 at Miami

Oct. 20 vs. Wake Forest

Oct. 27 vs. Clemson

Nov. 3 at NC State

Nov. 10 at Notre Dame

Nov. 17 vs. Boston College

Nov. 24 vs. Florida

Red are the Ls. I don't see any way FSU beats Clemson, but they could keep it close for 3qtrs. ND is also another guaranteed loss. Just a better team right now.

Underlined games are toss-ups. I'd say FSU goes 3-2 in those games.

Season Prediction: 8-4 with 7-5 being more likely than 9-3. If FSU somehow goes 10-2, then watch out for 2019/2020 (especially in recruiting). It's going to be a wild 2018 for my Noles.

And once again let me reiterate for my fellow FSU alumni/fans, any lingering doubts you had about how racist the fanbase is will be QUICKLY squashed…..probably by Q3 vs VT.

Of course there was competition at Clemson. You'll see Lawrence play this year, and don't be surprised if he ends up starting before the season ends. But Bryant was always gonna be the day one starter. You don't bench him for a true freshman you haven't seen in live action yet.

As for Frenchy, well, duh. Dude's a baller. No disrespect to Blackman, who kinda got baptized by fire last year.

I agree with that last part in the Clemson bit.

As for Blackman...yeah.

Blackman performed fine considering he was a true freshman QB who weighed 100# and led a team that quit halfway through the season because the coach was a flaky sumbitch.

Can we 4 peat, though?!

Yeah, I don't take anything away from what he did last year. Just getting y'all to a bowl was great.

I hope he's put on some serious weight. But I always figured Frenchy would come back and claim his spot. I was really impressed with him in '16.

Can't believe Alabama were the national champs in 2016. Wild, if true.

That puts our title count at 18, which means our trophy case is now of age. They grow up so fast.

Hide yo recruits' moms....

I actually bet my bro $20 that Francois would start for FSU. Since the Taggart offense is run-first, I just assumed he'd go with the better runner. My bro was betting that Frenchy wouldn't get his mind right.

I wouldn't start any QB under 205 lbs if I were an HC, regardless of the type of offense. And Blackman being 180 lbs?? Hell nah.

I am ok with this so long as Bama does the same for '16 during Clemson's kickoff.

The world needs to know.
