People are just having issues with some of the word choices and pointing it out. I'm not sure why that is worth more people making a bigger deal about 'outrage' than the people complaining about the language. But I've always found people using the word 'outrage' negatively as unable to form a coherent argument about the subject.

I think you'll find the forums poster SaiyanRaoh is the one who is outraged and throwing a fit

As is usual whenever someone complains about things being "PC"

I don't really play FPS and besides the melee bits I thought the combat looked really fun. I guess I'm just not seeing the issues because of lack of experience or something.

What are people here and in the media during E3 seeing here that makes it look to next gen and almost impossible on the current consoles? I would say the Pro and X can definitely do this and probably looking like this too. From all the praise I got the impression that we were dealing with graphics that were out of this world but to be honest I disagree. Faces don't look all that, lighting is nice at times but didn't blow me away, the scene with tons of pedestrians was nice and if they truly go about their business in the day/night cycle then that is impressive but how many times have devs claimed such things before?

Overall it really doesn't strike me as next gen, and if we're looking at a game here that is a year or maybe even two years from release I do hope we see a upgrade in visuals. Because time doesn't stand still and in 2020 we will have had some games with amazing graphics.
I would agree except for the city itself. The density of people and geometry is significantly beyond any open world game this generation.

There's also the idea that Pro/X are the standard, they're not, the base systems are. You're not even likely to get improved assets in the enhanced consoles. So if they have to reduce the geometry to get it running on the base consoles, you're likely to just see an IQ bump on the better versions.

Looked great world building and gameplay wise. But I seriously don't get the fuss about graphics when it was first showed at e3. Looks great but also looks this generation. Am I missing something.

Finished watching the entire thing and honestly it didn't really do a whole lot for me. Sure it looks great but that was expected. From a RPG perspective I really didn't see much in there that looked impressive and it seemed to copy their formula with witcher 3 where a lot of it is on the shallow end to appeal to more people who prefer streamlined experiences. I don't want to be too critical since it is just a very early demo but everything I saw in there seemed to be on the same level as lots of modern "RPGs" and even things like Deus Ex MD. Most conversations only had 1-3 choices, I was told that there's lots of choices in quests but I didn't actually see anything in the vid. It looked like you could either shoot the place up immediately or talk for a bit and then shoot the place up. Where are the skill checks in dialogue? I saw 0 the entire video, so they need to do better there. The whole thing felt very guided and cinematic which again it's hard to tell how much of that was just the demo or if that's where they're aiming (my gut tells me the latter, since it's what the masses and the media prefer).

Then again the more I think about it the more I'm starting to think New Vegas ruined gaming for me and we're never going to see another RPG on its level ever again. The amount of choices and skill checks that game had, with like less than 2 years of development, becomes more and more insane to me as time goes on. I really hope CDPR improves on the systems and stats in the game from here until launch because they have the cinematic stuff that everyone loves too much down already. It's time to work on the meat of the game now. I really do hope they can pull it off.

one of very few sensible critiques ITT

i assume there's a lot they aren't showing us, since this is the first impression anyone outside of CDPR is getting of the game. i do hope there is more of that depth that you are describing.

Does anyone think CDPR should outsource the combat part of their games? The combat is easily the worst part of all their games

Nah.

OldPlace / ERA hyperbole just makes combat in Witcher sound more worse than it really is. Also after seeing this showing of their gunplay I'm not worried about CP77s combat. Shows that they hired people from studios like Remedy.

Who gives a shit about graphics, the atmosphere is 110% there. And for those upset about the lore compared to the tabletop rpg, think of it like Deadwood vs. the real west.

Didn't Jackfrags talk about there being a big Cloud-like sword with an electromagnetic field? Did I miss that or was that not in the video?

I wish CDPR didn't show the game now. I can't believe we have people complaining about nudity and cussing in 2018.

People have every right to buy and play whatever games they want, but that doesn't mean that everyone has to enjoy having that garbage rammed down your throat completely non-stop while playing a video game. It is of course expected and understandable to have some of that in a "cyberpunk" type game even if I may not personally like most of it when playing video games, but I would be far more impressed if a developer could find the right balance of that and show some creative writing and world building so that it doesn't just look like a teenager wrote the script to prove how many f-bombs and vulgar private parts words could be jammed into everything.

why is everyone going on about the language when we should be talking about the obscene amount of violence in this piece of media.

Love the nudity in this game, love the gore, love the cursing, the graphics, weapons...so good! Also that naked guy waking up next to V is cute lol.

I have similar questions for the media but I assume they meant graphically because from what I saw from the gameplay it looked really basic and not worth drooling over. I mean the shooting and some mechanics near the end looked cool but I'm talking more on a detailed systems level. I didn't see anything there that was worth all that hype.

I was already sold without gameplay now I'm more sold though

I wonder if Male V and Female V have different personalities, and if things like your backstory change your personality

Yeah but it's the delivery too

The scotch line from V is so teenager trying to hang out with adults, it really sucks.
I think that works fine here since I'm looking at it as her basically putting on a front (poorly) now that she's getting involved with more serious criminals. Whether that's actually the intent or not is the question.

After watching the demo...this is what everyone was freaking out about at E3? The systems looked pretty extensive but not necessarily fun to engage with. The combat did not look fun, but it is an RPG and this was the early part of the game. I have zero doubt it'll get better as the game goes on, and maybe that's the point. I'll wait to judge the gameplay until later.

CD Projekt has never made a a traditional, super deep cRPG game. There were not systems heavy, or c&c heavy. Not even the Witcher 1 was like that, and that was a pc exclusive done with a Bioware engine. Their games have always been some kind of action/adventure/RPG.

So no surprises here.

Loved the fact the game (for a very early production model) was running on my exact PC specs. Only thing I wasn't too fond of was the controller being used.

There should be a law for FPS games of this caliber being shown. Mouse and keyboard should be a standard. Every time the person using the controller missed super simple shots I died a little inside.

I understand showcasing the game on a game pad slows it down so people could digest what's going on but man the combat was hard to watch sometimes cause of it.

The fuck are you talking about? Minority groups like us are constantly fighting against this shit, what makes you think that this society is completely devoid of people trying to make things better just because it's a capitalist dystopia? This goes doubly for the lower rungs of society as a considerable proportion of minorities are poorer than the average white, cis, straight folk - hence I'd actually expect this shit to get called out more often when you're down there. It's the most privileged people - the corporate types who've been at the top all their lives - who I'd expect to hear old-fashioned slurs from, NOT the dark underbelly of society.

Your entire justification is backwards as fuck.

What? Your entire expectation is that since these gangsters are mostly minorities they're the ones who will fight against racial slurs? Have you even stepped inside a bad neighborhood once in your life? Have you even seen the outside world? I've been called a fucking raghead, sand nigger, camel jockey and guess what? I don't fucking expect an apology or the street jackasses that called me that to change anytime soon. Everyone will still use that language now or in the future, especially the lowest dregs of society. You think the Bloods or the Crips or the militias carrying AK-47's below my apartment building are going to change their vocabulary?

If I'm backwards then you're delusional, I tried to be fucking civil but I'm done.

People actually complaining about the word pussy? I can tell you right now that it's best to stay away from GTA and honestly many other games, don't watch several shows and movies and especially ignore hiphop. Because you're gonna find/hear that a great deal in there.

Usually I just stay away from these kinds of conversations because most of the time nothing good comes from it but come the fuck on now please.

No, stop. "Pussy" is not acceptable in any context. Full-stop. No amount of handwringing is going to change the fact that the word's very root lies within notions of feminine things being weak, which is a notion that we're still trying to actively fight against to this day. The fact that the player character can't even comment on his use of it alone says a lot about the game and the way it's being written.

It is absolutely one of the first words I'd expect to see excised from the common lexicon in the future, along with the use of "gay" as a synonym for "bad".

The only part I agree is about gay being synonym for bad, or any other racial slur for that matter, you'll find no argument here.

Other than that? I disagree. If people are free to use male curse words towards both males and females, then I don't see any problems with the reverse also taking place, as long as it's not directed exclusively towards one gender, because that would frankly feel pretty exploitative. However, I'm not from US (where the use of the word "cunt" is faux pas for the most part) nor am I a native english speaker, so maybe my notion of linguistic do's or dont's is a bit jaded. Either way, to me this is a non-issue and I even welcome the fact that lowlifes are speaking like you would expect from them.

There are many many words that you can use in a mature setting, but they chose the ones that are offensive for the fight against equality. Using "pussy" as a slang since it has the sexism implied on it ("You're weak as a woman") and people can't understand why there's a problem with the dialogue. Same goes for cocksucker, as in, who gives a shit if someone sucks dick? Why it should be a slang? If I'm suppose to roleplay and have partners who constantly say offensive shit no wonder why I'm going to have a problem with it, since I'm not roleplaying the person that I want to be. For a game that calls a RPG, I'm disappointed.

These examples and that Twitter stuff is making me have second-thoughts on supporting a company that normalizes the offensive use of these words, and people can't understand "ThE oUtRaGe".

Empathy, look up a dictionary.

Well, having watched the whole thing I can see how this game won so many E3 awards. This will easily be one of the early stars of next gen just like Witcher 3 was this gen.
