Dude is a legend and one of my all time favorite players. I expected it, but it's still sad. Just so fun to watch night in and night out.

Congrats on a great career to Manu, end of an era. He should be a borderline Hall of Fame candidate.

Damn, can't believe it's over. I was hoping he'd be back for one more run, but can't really blame him after the Kawhi saga.

Wow, it's really crazy to see the Spurs without Timmy, Manu or TP. Manu is such a professional and I always liked that he put his ego aside and was willing to come off the bench even at his peak.

This is a really sad day. He's a monster of a player and a wonderful person. Whatever he chooses to do from now on, I wish him nothing but the best.

I'll never forget his winning shot against Serbia at the 2004 Olympics. The magic starts at 2:07, but the whole thing is worth watching.

LEGEND. Gonna miss watching him play, even if, overall, his abilities have noticeably declined in recent years.

One of the very best. So sad.

I started as a Spurs fan in 1997 during the infamously bad injury season that got us Duncan. My family's major sports team had been only the Chicago Cubs so having a winning sports team was amazing as a kid lol.

This spurs run has been amazing and sadly makes me feel old (only 30 lol) because all things must come to an end. Technically Parker may end up back in a spurs uniform in a year and at least retire a spur so i guess we will have one more big 3 go around.

I know people will say dirk and Hakeem rank higher as best foreign nba players, and they're great, but can it be argued that manu has a longer list of team accomplishments?

The gold medals, winning titles in 03/05/07/14 (and almost 13) seem to be something neither Hakeem nor dirk can match on their resume. Dirk did get to the finals in 06 and won it in 11 but manu won titles with the spurs in several different eras. That is some serious sustained success.

He was still contributing at 41 last season, didn't he have a game winner last year too?

He has to be the best second round pick of all time, unless i'm Missing someone major.

Always fun to watch. Especially during the early years when he would drive Pop nuts.

Grant Hill made it on the first ballot.
Manu is a lock.

Hill won two national championships, 7 time All-Star and won Olympic gold. Not to say that Manu is not a first ballot HOF but Hill deserved it.

Spurs have always been a team I respected. While we played them only once in the Finals in 07, I learned a lot of how great players like Manu, Duncan, and Parker are to everyone. Such classy individuals. Enjoy retirement Manu you deserve it.

His flopping alone is worthy of the Hall of Fame (not that it's hard to get into the NBA HoF but still.)

Manu and Pau Gasol are both hall of fame locks when you consider the entire breadth of their careers (including international play, which the basketball hall of fame does).

Argentina
GOAT Argentinian sports player. Suck it Maradona.

As an argentinean, I disagree. Diego Maradona is arguably one of the three greatest soccer players of all time (alongside Pele and Messi?). Manu Ginobili is the best argentinean to ever play basketball, but there have been dozens of superior players in the rest of the world.

That said, he gave us lots of great moments: a ferocious, creative, dynamic competitor who reinvented himself to stay relevant well past his prime. He led the glorious Golden Generation that took the Olympic Gold in Athens and was a vital component of the all-time great Spurs dinasty.

I'm not saying Grant Hill didn't deserve to get in (deserve is meaningless anyway, the HOF is arbitrary as fuck, but FWIW that was not a dig at Hill). I am saying Manu had a better career in the NBA and especially outside of it. He's a lock.
