Ran around with a large raid group in Santa Monica today and hit gym after gym . Caught 5 Ho-ohs with one being a 80% Shiny!! Good times. Sooooo many people are playing this again.

I updated Pokémon Go today and the app won't open. It won't load at all and auto closes.

Anyone else dealing with this?

I didn't think to check out a video of catching Ho-Oh before going out today, and on my first attempt I had 12 balls and only had 2 excellent throws, and of course Ho-Oh was not impressed and fled. In fact I hadn't struggled this much catching a legendary since my first legendary raid (Kyogre) . But I got it down with the remaining 5 attempts and caught 4 weather boosted Ho-Ohs, including one 84IV shiny and a 91IV non-shiny. And I found my first shiny houndour, while my wife found our first shiny snubull. Very good day for us!

I didn't do a Spinda quest because I wasn't in town for 3 weeks. Really hoping I can get one before August ends.

Just in case any of you are in Nashville and don't know, there are Unown spawning the letters NASHVILLE near the convention centre today and the Pokestop for Music City Centre is Catch 10 Pokemon for a Corsola encounter.

It says Ho-Oh ends 27th August @ 1pm PT, alright for me cos it works out @ 9pm UK time. Pretty much done with them now anyway but I'll keep raiding them tomorrow for the XP and rare candy.

Saturday was a bust for me. 4 raids and I couldn't catch Ho Oh. It was fun being out and about and seeing other players though.

Have you tried the "setting the circle" technique? If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the video here. It all but ensures you get an excellent throw and that the pokemon you are catching doesn't dodge or knock the ball away after you throw.

Got my wife to level 11 so trade complete. Have 70 pinaps so the next phase should be blocked by the 7 days of pokestops.

Just wish johto would finish earlier than 3pm central Tuesday. Ready to capture some magikarps.

Thanks for the link! I finally caught a Ho Oh earlier today and even helped my mentee catch his. Hoping to improve my catch rate with all this new info.

Yeah, I'm loving the Johto festival for the Porygon, Seadra, and Poliwhirl (and I'd love it for Scyther, except I never seem to get those as prizes), but I could do with less Sunkern and less "catch three sunkern" quests everywhere. There's only so many Upgrades and Dragon Scales a person needs...

Also I'd like more time for Ho-Oh. I don't think anybody's burning to get back to Regirock.

Stuck on part 5 of the Mew research. Are there any good tips of how to find a Ditto?

The best advice I've heard so far has been these two tidbits:
1) Just keep catching Ditto candidates. With the Johto event going on, look for Yanma, Hoothoot, and Sentret.
2) If those Ditto candidates are usually common in a particular area, and one of them pops to the top of the "nearby pokemon" list, it could be a Ditto, as the tracker promotes rare and uncaught pokemon to the top.

Any other good tips?

went out w/ my girlfriend yesterday and ended up w/ a group driving around the KC suburbs doing the ho-oh raids. no shinies for either of us, but I still ended up with 9 ho-oh =).6 of which are weather boosted!

also got the aloan raichu and marowak!

pretty successful day tbh. when does the johto stuff end? I'm on the 6/8 on celebii day and I still need to spin pokestops for another 6 days or so... I know the next one is to catch 40 grass/psy pokemon and that seems like it'll be a bit of a pain w/o natus everywhere.

Rattata during the Johto event are also a good giveaway. Look at Pokémon that shouldn't be there.

My friend in Scotland just started back up, and could use some friends. Good opportunity for long distance eggs: 7413 3859 0325

My girlfriend (we live in Central FL) could also use some more friends: 3870 7836 7605

My roommate could also use more friends: 8564 8406 3267

And, last and least, I'm always welcoming new friends: 6834 8359 5714

Thanks so much, everyone!

I'm going to Italy in late September. Tropius is available in very, Southern Italy, right? I think we'll only be going as far south as Naples so probably won't work out.

So many people at these Ho-Oh raids. If Niantic wanted to please the player base (and make more money!) they could announce that Ho-Oh is staying for another week or two.

I wonder what the event will be next month. With Entei being the research quest reward maybe there will be a fire theme.

Everyone would flip out if they released shiny Vulpix too.

Just done my last raid there, fifteen Ho-Oh total with two of them shiny. I did eighteen all together so only three got away. My mission for tomorrow is to try and find one of the new Johto shinies, I only have a Snubbull so far.

Hi everyone! Recently returned to Go! after a 18+ absence. Loving the changes so far and I've noticed that a lot of people in my social circles are playing again.

I am going to be traveling to Hong Kong in near future (from U.S.) and I've read there are continent specific Pokemon. Anything special I should do to catch something I can only get over there? Or do I just go about regular gameplay and hope for the best?

So I got a shiny eevee that I already walked 3km a while ago but changed it and now put it in again. Do I have to walk the complete 10km now again or is it enough to walk 7 now until I got the total 10km in order to get umbreon?

What I heard is you have to get 2 candy, so since you didn't get a candy yet, you would have to walk the full 10 again.
