I stopped caring about review scores years ago and simply play whatever I feel like playing. Best decision I ever made as a gamer because I enjoyed so many experiences I would have missed out on if I based my playlists on well a game reviews.
Some of my favourite games this generation have been the likes of QUBE 2, The Turing Test, Mighty Gunvolt Burst etc - I would never have played these games if I relied on review scores.

They removed that from SoD1 and it was never included in 2.

Shit, I meant to write off-screen events while I was thinking about the fact that one of my companions died while with me and that destroyed the team's morale completely. It's a tough game in that sense, especially in the first hours. I'll need a very specific mood and mindset to properly dive into it.

Just wanted to chime in as a new user here. I've read through way more than I care to admit and I'm loving what feels like a productive and overall positive thread here. The hate is so rampant online for MS that this and other topics here about the games and systems involving them have been a breath of fresh air so thank you guys.

Ah, ok, I get you now. Yeah, I agree you have to be in a certain mood to play it. For me, I need to make sure I have at least a few hours to play it in one session, so that I can get things running smoothly before stopping. Problem with my last session, was that I moved to this large camp-site, which proved to be a bit too big to handle for my group and I need to move. Haven't been able to face it for a month!

Just popping in to say hi - long-time lurker here who signed up on a whim today. This is the thread I tend to lurk in the most, often to see what Klobrille has been hinting at - so I look forward to joining the discussion.

Did we ever find out what happened to Decisive Games, that was hiring for "Beloved Strategy Game" roughly 3 years ago?

Did it just not happen, as in the studio was never staffed? Because, I look over at who is actually making Age of Empires 4 and it's obviously not Decisive Games, but Relic Entertainment. Just curious if there ever was a follow up on this, since I can't seem to find one nor was there ever an official press release about the studio, I think.

Welcome! For better or worse, this board is not quite focused on the kind of products Microsoft is delivering, hence the fact relatively niche Japanese games get bigger threads than Halo or Battlefield does. But if you want fine MS discussions, you're definitely in the right place!

Thank you! I'm a lover of all types of games, Japanese included so that's fine with me but it just feels so encouraging to see productive, non-trolling discussions online for once. It really does.

Thanks for the welcome daniel77733 and Slicer Dyster!

Daniel, you should definitely check out DmC if you have the chance - I think the Definitive Edition is on Game Pass if you're subbed to that? I know a lot of series fans hate it, but I always struggled to get into the mainline games. Ended up loving DmC, something really clicked for me. As for Heavenly Sword, it was one of the first games I picked up when I got a PS3 and the quality of acting in the game blew me away. Plus, Andy Serkis as the bad guy, what more could you ask for :D

It's a shame that, now they're under MS, they won't be able to revisit either of those or Enslaved. I would really like it if MS could acquire Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, seeing as Sony and Bamco are unlikely to ever do anything with those IPs, but I know there's effectively no chance of that happening. And obviously I really want to see what NT can create from scratch for the XBO.

I do wonder if there's a chance of a DmC sequel though - Itsuno recently said he'd like to see it, so I wonder if MS and Capcom could figure something out and just have it be exclusive. Probably a total pie in the sky idea though D:

I also love plenty of indies, non-mainstream games and asian stuff - some of my favourite genres are bullet hell/danmaku and rhythm games, both mainly made in Asia. It's just too bad certain things like Microsoft products, EA games, notorious GaaS titles, online-focused games, etc. can't be properly discussed without the usual snark and trolling. But it's still a great place, much better than other gaming boards I've seen.

From the topics I've lurked in before signing up, I agree.

The bullet-hell games have always been way too hard for me to get into but I always marvel at those who can navigate all of those obstacles like it's nothing.

I'm a big fan of action (including action RPG's), adventure, drama, logic, mystery, fighting and first person shooter games.

I had fallen off gaming for a long while, but still found myself buying games I knew I would enjoy oddly lol

My backlog is in the 200's for my XB1 for instance, and I'm finally playing through Gears of War 4 (which I'm loving and think it deserves more love) and the Uncharted collection.

And I agree with you in regards of Gears 4.
I've never been much of a shooter fan but since they are one of the platform staples I decided to give it a go and played through all 5 games and 4 is the one I liked the most.

https://www.elcorteingles.es/videojuegos/A27537381-mando-elite-blanco-para-xbox-one/

The description reads a bit like Elite Controller 2.0. A bit difficult to give a final judge on that due to the language though.

Where's was
Where's washurn though
Washburn

I wonder if that has to do with the fact that soon Xbox Controllers will be compatible with Android and we're seeing the first moves to the "Console-like experience" on mobile Phil talked about at E3 https://www.techradar.com/news/xbox-one-controller-google-android-pie-support
Maybe that's why they're launching an Elite that leaving aside that fact that this one is white is only different from the already existing one in the addition of Bluetooth (wich I imagine is how it'll connect to Android devices)
Edit: Just seen that the url no longer works :(

Klobrille Since you seem to be doing the OT for Horizon 4, hoping you can answer this question. Have PG said anything about the upgrade system? In FM7, they added the homologation system which I found absolutely terrible and pretty much ruined any interest I had in messing around in upgrading cars.

Even if you opt not to use the system and go with stock options, you would see all the upgrades that were installed previously.

Do we know if they are using this system for FH4 or sticking with the standard system from FH3 and the games prior?

HeliosT10 can you help here?

It's not for me at all, but that 'All Access' thing is a crazy good deal. Especially because it's designed as a fixed term that has an end date instead of dragging on forever in interest payments, and it includes a console! I never believed the rumours about that last part specifically. I thought a combined subscription for Gold and GamePass was most likely.

Anyway, the whole thing is even more positive thinking outside the box from MS. These are really interesting times, next generation could be fascinating.

Although they do collaborate I think you are confused a bit. T10 owns all decisions regarding FM7 while Playground owns Horizon.

The system FM7 chose to implement was them trying something new. Obviously both T10 and Playground are aware of feedback when it came to that system. It would be up to PG to decide to modify or implement something similar for Horizon not T10.

Source: worked on FM for multiple iterations.

There used to be truth to that. Back when Xbox was more visionary and being first to include hard drive, broadband gaming and had partnerships with Sega, Bioware and Bethesda when Sony didn't.

I think many hardcore multiplayer gamers stuck with Microsoft. The controller is preferable for shooters and racing games and there's a better online infrastructure.

Xbox lost the single player gamer this gen and most gamers who prefer single player story driven game are hardcore. That's why those types of games don't reach mass market sales numbers. Game Pass and Microsoft's recent studio purchases gives them a shot to win some back next gen.

I see, thanks for that. I don't doubt PG can make their own decisions, just wondering if they said anything on that front. Or maybe if something was shown in the gameplay videos.

And yeah, T10 is pretty good at listening to feedback, at least recently. Hopefully they heard on this issue.

For a taste as diverse as yours, I'm sure Game Pass is proving to be a brilliant service. It feels like practically every genre is represented nowadays, and with more and more games coming up it just keeps on getting better. To think that in a couple months we'll have Forza Horizon 4, Crackdown 3 and such on it... wow.

And don't get me started on backlogs, I'm pretty sure I am going to end this generation having about a thousand games between Xbox One titles and backwards compatible games I own. Needless to say I completed a small percentage of them so far.

So with Microsoft getting, or at least having the option to, the rights back to MechWarrior in 2020 I wonder if they have any plans for it, especially now that some of the Harmony Gold issues have been resolved.

If Piranha Games wasn't in the same province as the Collation I wouldn't have been surprised to see MS acquire them to keep that IP active.

I looked it up and I don't see any mention of Decisive Games? To clarify, I'm not interested in what the game was that they would make, but I'm more interested into what happened to the studio.
IIRC; Decisive Games was the team at 343 Industries that helped make Halo Wars 2.

It was a 343 strategy game team that Dan Ayoub led. They just didn't keep the Decisive Games branding, if you watch E3 2017 it says "Please welcome the head of the strategy team, 343 Industries, Dan Ayoub."

Is that true about Decisive Games being born out of 343i? That's the first I've heard that.

I've asked about Decisive Games and what happened to it multiple times in the old thread (original OT) and I remember people telling me Decisive Games was just a label for strategy games (not actually a full new studio) and the people hired by it made Halo Wars 2.

Also 343 Industries didn't have a strategy team (led by Dan Ayoub who has now left 343 for the HoloLens team) before Decisive Games so it made sense to me when people told me that.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-studio-head-for-strategy-games-leaves-team-to/1100-6449986/

Halo Studio Head for Strategy Games leaves 343 Industries for HoloLens Team.

[UPDATE] Microsoft has clarified that Ayoub was 343's Studio Head for strategy games. Bonnie Ross is 343's overall leader.

To me this statement and clarification means that 343 planned to make multiple strategy games or had a second strategy team.

Decisive isn't 343, thats just the publishing team in 343 as well as Microsoft studios staff, Dan Ayoub headed up external projects that 343 managed like MCC, Halo:SS and SA his previous projects. Decisive appeared to be an early planned studio to make AOE4 and RON, instead they struck a deal with Sega for AOE4 like HW2, I assume that decision was made due to the lower cost when the budget was spread thin.

Do not start a fucking thread with that, lol.
Too late, Chobel wants to sit back and watch the world burn lol.

I LOVE Cuphead and that game kicks my ass. I'm a little surprised MS hasn't yet decided to buy StudioMDHR btw.

Yeah, I scanned through my games a minute ago while updating Halo: MCC and shock my head realizing I wont be touching any of them anytime soon. It's too much. : (

I love Gears 3 and 1 the most but 4 surprisingly jumped to my third favorite in the series. The game is gorgeous, I agree and it controls the best out of all of them and like you I do feel the characters were fleshed out a bit more and much less brolic compared to the original cast. They felt more human, minus a few moments concerning Dom and Marcus of course.

Yeah, Game Pass is a great service and MS making first party titles available day one is extremely customer friendly.

And sheesh. You've got me beat then. If only we had control of time...

Time to buy CDPR, Cyberpunk looks unreal

It's one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed. I have never felt so enthralled watching a gameplay reveal as I have with the new 48 minute video. Talk about immersion.

Now when people argue about which devs are AAA, and they mention Rockstar, Naughty Dog, 343i, The Coalition, Guerrilla Games and Playground Games, I look over at CD Projekt Red and they all come a little short and I mean no disrespect to any of these elite developers when I say that.

MS having CDPR as a first party studio would shoot them up astronomically as far as in house talent, assuming the majority of the team didn't do a mass exodus lol

Volition could be a good acquisition right now. They just made a game that didn't sell as expected. They layoff 30 peoples. They are 170 people studio. They could take Crackdown series on. Just saying. Just an idea.

For Crackdown 3, it's gonna sell well. Multiplayer could be something good with gamepass. I see easily as much people playing it than Sea of thieves.

Funny that you say that I was just looking at that new Xbox all access Promo picture and two of their games are shown on the picture with all Microsoft IP's. I would never start a rumor or would I ?
