Eh, I think the former better represents the RTX Framerate.
Yeah, especially Novigrad had a much more detailed and realistic look to it. Swamp looked different lighting wise especially and some effects too.
I dont think it was about consoles being able to handle it - they had to completely re-do their lighting engine and the approach they were using. could be once the maps became true open world instead of isolated chunks for the demo it shit the bed - or it could even be that it took far too much artist manpower to control and they had to switch to a one size fits all method.
Making something that looks that good dynamic and part of a true day/night cycle was far more likely the reason it was cut. For consoles they could drop the fog, cut the resolution, kill some shadows - but instead they completely ripped the entire approach out and replaced it with something much more simple.
I think a lot of graphics downgrades people see these days (watch dogs being the exception) arent related to power, they're related to the investment of manpower it would take to implement the detail they put in their target slice across the entire game. No publisher will greenlight spinning a team of 50 artists out to work for a year, delay the game by 4 months and burn through $5-10m adding an extra level of detail that only 0.5% of players will see.

yeahe, and completly random they will show their Cyberpunk 2077 talk from just 3 days ago again, 30minutes before the big mysterious blockbuster gameplay.
I wonder if they changed their minds about showing it to us, or if this was planned all along and they were just being coy about it?
2 biggest western gaming trade shows conquered with demos to the press. There's no other real big show this year they could drum up word of mouth from so makes sense to release the footage to the masses!

The scrolling text was actually a worm virus that hacked the Pentagon mainframe and downloaded full copies of Cyberpunk onto everyone's PCs. Shame you missed it; we're all playing it right now.

I really really hope they finally reveal the game and confirm that it will not come to current gen consoles. There is no way they will be able to cram in all that detail on current gen consoles after running it on a 1080 Ti at 1080p. We could have had a shot if it was running at native 4k, but at 1080p it means they were fully utilizing that tflop to push detail instead of just pixels.
Next gen consoles should be around 10-12 tflops and seeing as how this game wont be out for at least another year and a half, they should probably just release it on next gen consoles instead of massively downgrading their vision just to sell more copies on current gen consoles.
GTAV has proved that you can keep selling good games for years. as people buy more and more next gen consoles, they will pick up this game as their first game if it's as good as everyone is making it out to be.
