The pace of the game in some sections is indeed somewhat on the mellow exploratory side (but definitely not always). I played the game and enjoyed it at the time, the only problems I had with it were just 2 very short sections (less than a minute each) where I had to pass on the game to one of my daughters that has better reflexes than I do, AND that the "true ending" (which is not really important) is only achievable if you 100% the game (I had 99% and looking for that one missing thing in this game is too much of a chore). I think most people who play the game don't even know they haven't reached the true ending...

It's still on my wishlist. Problem is there is like 20 games on my wishlist I should buy first and at least the same amount of games I have already bought which are unfinished. If Switch was something like Wii U I would have already bought it and probably liked it. Everything in demo felt good, only it was a little boring side, and generally I am not against slower pace, actually I usually prefer that and exploration. Reading your impressions makes me consider if I should just buy the game next time it is on sale. The price is very low at least.

I found Dandara a bit too frustrating for my liking, and the level design was a little bland.

I'm with you there. I played right to the final area but the exceptionally short invincibility period after being hit in particular just made me too frustrated. A shame because there is a lot going for it.

Is it possible to buy dlc, let's say, Xenoblade 2s expansion pass in another eshop country than you bought the main game and you can still play the DLC?

On the other eshop search for the xenoblade 2 game and if it says purchased it means is a universal package so it will be safe for you to buy the expansion dlc from that store, if i'm not mistaken. xD

I agree. I love the core concept but just can't convince myself to keep playing it when there are so many less frustrating games in my library.
I really want to buy/play Dandara as it is a rare Brazilian game that got plenty of attention in the US (and 100% because of the Switch version and Nintendo giving it space in its YouTube channel), but the feedback I've been receiving on it has been disappointing.

Indeed it is. Hope this US sale get more people to discover the game, since it never even charted on top-30 on the US eShop.

In a world where every critically acclaimed indie seems to be selling bucketloads on Switch, this is unfathomable. I even checked Nintendo Everything's eShop charts for the weeks after Yoku launched just to double-check, and sure enough it's nowhere to be found. Absolutely bizarre.

Worth noting that Yoku got a retail release like two weeks later, possibly affecting its ability to land in the eShop charts. I bought a retail copy, for example (two actually lol).

Well that would definitely impact digital sales if a bunch of folks were holding out for a physical copy. I just hope the game performed well enough overall. Though I'm an idiot since I haven't bought it yet, even now when it's on sale. Backlog's too huge. But I tried the demo at least. :P

Yeah, this. My Dandara save is right before the final boss, even. I do think the game would play better with touchscreen controls for movement, but I prefer physical.

I just beat Dandara a few days ago and going by the posts following this it doesn't seem too popular but I have to vouch for it. If you're looking for a challenging game or a unique take on Metroidvania then you owe it to yourself to give it a go.

The locations are varied and unique, awesome boss battles, great music, and it's not long at all. I saw everything the game has to offer (missing a few chests) and I finished it at around 7 hours. It's the perfect length for the type of game it is and doesn't overstay its welcome.

But yes, the game is definitely very challenging. It's not too bad at the start but once you reach a certain part the difficulty ramps up like crazy and I can see why a lot of people drop it. Still, if you enjoy a challenge, it'll put your skills to the test.

Boy, Penguin Wars did not age well. Loved it on GB when I was 9 or 10, but the concept is pretty rough now.

Picked up Little Dragons Cafe. My god the loading screens. Damned pops up a black screen with a little load bar every 20 seconds it feels like. Luckily they aren't overly long, but still, hope they can optimize it further.

The game has charm, though, and despite the loading, I'm finding myself being drawn into it.

I couldn't believe they were charging $60 for that.

So I've been able to put in a few hours into Hollow Knight now, and wow, I am impressed with the game. I've beaten the first boss and moved on to the second area, and everything has been great so far. The difficulty is just right, despite being worried that it might be too difficult. I was worried about getting lost and frustrated on what to do based on some posts, but the in-game map has done a great job of leading me without revealing too much. Hopefully that doesn't change later on. Anyways, I still have a long way to go, but if my impression on the game doesn't sour, I'll definitely double dip on the physical copy whenever that releases.
The game only gets better. It will become more challenging but if you are a thorough explorer (keep a look out for breakable walls!) you will also get tools to make you stronger and give you more options for tackling encounters.

Even on bosses where I died like 10 times I never felt the boss was impossible or cheap, I always felt like I was just being stupid and making mistakes. It's all patterns and execution. If you do get to a point where a boss is really giving you trouble you can usually just go explore somewhere else and come back when you've gotten a bit stronger and found more charms. That makes the game's difficulty all the more manageable, IMO.

I had a load of high Street vouchers just sitting around that i got from work in January as a reward for praise from a customer, so i went out and used half buying two physical games to play post Hollow Knight: Owlboy and Yokus Island Express.

Haven't been able to start the latter, but man Owlboy is so charming and fun to play. Love the world, the characters and the hints of lore. I'm homeho!

Amy I playing Xenoblade 2 wrong? Cause I often read people have 30-40 hours when they reach or is done with chapter 4 and I just reached chapter 3 and have 6-7 hours. I am doing as many side quests as I can too.

Maybe I need to buy the expansion pass to fill it up with content or something.

I'm looking for strategy game, rts more than turn based. Something like controlling your kingdom and conquering others. Even something simple like the boardgame risk will be ok.

No.

You're clearly not exploring and instead just running from quest marker to quest marker, right?

(OT for the game is here btw: https://www.resetera.com/threads/xenoblade-2-ot2-think-you-can-take-me-dont-forget-me.13002/)

Ive been playing Isaac the past few days in docked mode and today I tried it as handheld just for fun, I feel the game plays better it handheld. So good. Isaac on Switch is like Vita just with a bigger and clearer screen (I find Isaac to be quite dark on Vita for some reason).

I already have 64 hours combines with old and Rebirth on PC lol.

That's good to read! I'm trying to explore as much as possible and make a mental note of places I can't reach yet. Though I'll probably have to make a run through the areas again as I don't have the best memory.

You're not playing it wrong. But if you got to that point in 6-7 hours, you're probably not exploring very much or at all. Which is fine if you're having fun, but if you're looking for more content, you'll need to thread off the beaten path more.

Bought Hollow Knight and tried the first couple minutes. Legit impressed. Love the visuals and the music, and the heal mechanic is pretty neat! :D Really gives me a Steamworld Dig vibe also.

About to wrap Ch. 3 myself with 29 hours on the clock. I have done a metric ton of exploring though. Leave no nook unchecked and have done every side quest I come across, even doing some blade ability requirements like hunting certain foes or whatnot.

Admittedly many hours could be shaved as I was testing how certain blades worked and maxing requirements out before pushing on, learning the mechanics and such, so my time is at the top end for sure, but 7 hours would be ignoring the forest for the trees. Just pushing through for the story triggers are ya?

Oh wait...you just starting chapter 3? That one is looooooonnng(if you explore). I misread and assumed you hit chapter 4 at 7 hours. Can easily sink 10 hours in chapter 3 alone, more if you are like me.

I gave Yoku a shot and found it charming, but I'm not sure if it's a purchase or not. I found I was pressing the ZL and ZR buttons pretty hard at times and I'm honestly not sure about the constant trial and error when shooting the ball, but such is life in pinball. :P

Picked up Hollow Knight on the sale, loving it so far but man it has some fierce slowdown here and there in random spots when smoke effects or ranged attacks are on screen at once. Swimming in Blue Lake for example.
I wouldn't say it impacts my enjoyment of the game as a whole because it's stellar but at the same time I hope the devs can iron out the kinks.

Here's one of the weirder games coming to Switch in the next couple of weeks -- Sigi: A Fart for Melusina. It's a blend of 2D Mario, Ghosts 'n Goblins, and farting.

You can actually place those markers yourself? I assumed all of them placed themselves. I'll have to check up on that. Will definitely make everything much easier. Thanks!
There are markers for specific things that place themselves automatically, but there's also a variety of "blank" markers you can pick from and place manually anywhere on the map.

I was disappointed with only a fart or two in the trailer on the eshop. Did this have more flatulence? I'd like wind riding moves, forward fart jumps and stuff. Maybe green gas clouding enemies to poison them. Ideally turd tossing too, but maybe the rating would be too exclusionary. Maybe a Le Petomane of gaming?

Not sure this is the right spot, but is there a way to buy the champions pack for Paladins on Switch? I only see a way to buy it with crystals, but you conveniently can't buy the exact amount you need for the champs pack. The game's grown on me after my initial "meh" opinion, and I've dumped 30+ hours into the game. So I figure I should "invest".

Are you comparing it to Steamworld?

You are in for a treat.

Birds shit on you in the game and make fart noises. The main character may randomly fart at times in the stage, but mostly he rips ass upon stage completion.

I absolutely loved Steamworld Dig 2. I quite enjoyed Hollow Knight until I got so frustrated at the difficulty, and having to go back to a bench miles away from where you died to have to spend ages trekking back to where you died only to die again etc.

Just too frustrating for me which is a shame as potentially I can see I'd enjoy it more than SD2. But I haven't got the patience or time to dedicate tons of retries just to clear sections of games.
