Is there a single Kirin weapon that isn't shit? I really love the look of them, that's why I use them whenever possible but they are absolute crap stat wise. I really hope at least some of them will get a boost with G Rank, cause I want to keep using them.

I like my Kirin Rainbow look lol

I use Verdant Levin (the IG) in a couple critical element builds. It's pretty good against things weak to lightning (Nerg). I feel like any of the weapons that don't hit a lot are shit, but ones that do hit a lot (dual blades, IG) are good because of the big elemental damage

I use IG as well, even tho I have better ones but I like the way it looks, same with Lance, Kirin's Lance looks absolutely killer. I might got spoiled by elemental Kulve weapons, but no white, no decoration slot and low raw damage on Kirin weapons is still kinda shitty.

Yeah, most of the Kulve ones are better but for the most part you have to waste other skills in order to get free element. At least with Kirin you get the thunder damage out of the box

Truth. If you don't have sleep or paralysis weapons for your palico you're doing it wrong

I was just looking at some of the recovery skills and was wondering does recovery up affect how much health you get from hitting with health augmented weapons too?​

It depends on the monster and your comfort level fighting a monster. For instance, hitting jhos weakpoints are basically impossible because they are up high and he moves so much, unless he's on the ground or your ranged. That leaves his legs the main target for most melee. He is super weak to lightning so those high elemental hits are doing way more work than you realize where as raw would be hampered hitting there, particularly when he is in rage mode and his defense goes up. All the while building up his flinch/trip meter steadily.

Meanwhile, other lightning weak monsters such as kushala are much easier to hit every where and probably benefit more from raw or a strategicly needed gem slot. Comfort level also plays into this with the risk/reward of putting yourself in certain spots, such as nerg. If your brave and trust your skills and build, being all up in his face and front legs is all good, but if you need to play careful, his rear while not a weakspot will benefit more from that elemental.

But yeah, don't dismiss low raw high elemental weapons because you need to look at how the fight actually plays out with specific weapons

Totally . It's seriously one of my favorites of any monster Hunter. I love how the FF raid mechanics are worked into it. I haven't tried the extreme version yet, but reading this board I'm afraid to lol

I know how elements work and this is not what I complain about. For a R8 weapons with no white and no slots the stats are still low even with high thunder. Let's take IG for example, both Tzitzi and Kadachi thunder versions will outperform Kirin's IG. Tzitzi not only can get white sharpness but it also has lvl3 slot, higher raw and only 60 less thunder plus 3 augmentations. Kadachi can get a lot of white sharpness, it has 10% affinity, higher raw, lvl1 slot and 3 augmentations.

I just expect more from his R8 weapons. Nergigante weapons come with blue sharpness only, but they have a lot of it, it usually has a slot and elderseal and really high raw damage. Kushala's, Teostra's and Vall's weapons can get white sharpness and most of the them have good stats and let's not forget Xenojiiva. Kirin's weapon look kinda meh if you compare them to other elders or other R8 weapons.

I'm far from the best MH player but I'm beginning to feel a little cautious about joining quests where players have a HR of less than 100 or so. My HR is only 74, but I'm just getting a little annoyed at how unprepared some people are. I had a guy earlier bring an Anja Bow against a tempered Lunastra. We failed the quest. Then this other guy died 4 times all by himself against a tempered Kushala and then abandons the fucking quest. We failed after another guy died 15 minutes later.

I'm replaying Monster Hunter World, but I fell off the groove for a weekend, and need a little help.

For reference of where I am, I have just unlocked my first 5 star mission (the one with the Legiana), and am struggling to beat it (despite having already beaten this game).

What is the best hammer I can get at this point, and what armor synergizes the best? I'm second guessing every choice I'm making with how I spend my resources and would like a little guidance.

You will never know how good people are till you play with them. We had a guy today that was HR800+ and he died 3 times against extreme behemoth in the first phase, like wtf? And then I had really awesome HR50+ players. You don't know till you know ;)

How did you beat the game already since you just unlocked your first 5 star mission? The game goes till 9 star quests, then you have higher rank quest like tempered Kirin at HR49. Did you beat the whole game or did you only beat Zorah? Have you fought Xenojiiva? I'm little confused here.

Masozi I remember now, I was using Ingot set till I got Diablos quest, then I farmed low rank Diablos till I could make the set. Can you craft Kulu Ya-ku hammer yet, cause if I remember right that was what I used till I could make Diablos hammer.

I don't know but I'm sure he grinded Tempered Legiana/Rathian event quest cause it gives you a ton of xp for it. I'm HR400 with over 1000 hours but I don't really grind my rank, it goes up with everything I do and I do mostly investigations and some events here and there.

Tbh you don't need to bother with Armor skills in Low Rank, just spend Armor Sphere to upgrade your armor.

As for tips, try fighting Legiana in Area 12 (next to the upper Camp), abuse the slopes for the aerial spinning attack. Also bring flash pod.

For weapon, either Anjanath or Tobi Kadachi one I think.

It's insanity how many people running Behemoth have no idea of how to play this game past just mashing the attack button. 150+ rank players who have no idea what lifepowder is, no idea how to use flash pods to support teammates or negate Charbydis, no idea what sleep bombing is. I just played with a 300+ rank lancer who didn't know how to block. I'm just going to have to wait for peeps I know to run this fight because you basically have to win the teammate lottery if you're joining S.O.S.'s on this hunt lol

Beat the tempered Behemoth today after a total of 3 evenings trying. Not a great mechanic to add to other fights but it feels good to get it done once.

We had beat it once before, had only 1 faint left and he began summoning his last E. Meteor. We were all behind cover ready to celebrate and one guy takes just a smidgen of a step too close to a charybdis and shoots out from behind cover and dies.

Hard to see. Only guy not temporal mantled.

We beat it soon after though. What reallty helped us as a group of melee users was abusing mounting by staying mounted on purpose and by the time he'd knock over and get up, you'd know he was gonna summon the big meteor.

Kirin Thunder Dualblades are the best Dualblades for Kulve Taroth in Area 1- 3.

Speedrunners use them instead of KT variants or other thunder Dualblades

I've been SOSing into high rank assigned quests and it's actually been pretty fun. It's kinda funny to look back and see people struggling with these quests that are a breeze to me now but that I used to struggle with as well. I've been doing the HR49 tempered Kirin quite a bit and I've even had a couple people message me for the set I was using because attacks that are killing them barely scratch me.

So I just opened 7 star missions, I actually almost completely skipped the 6 star tier somehow, I can't even join 7 star investigations or other missions haha, only the main campaign 6 star missions (only 2 are there even and I've done them, over and over, I need to go do the everstream expedition story wise to progress), so, what's a reliable way to get a Rathian Ruby as that's the only material I'm missing to complete my first HR armor set (Pink Rathian b, the gauntlets need it, I've crafted the rest already)? I'm still rocking the Legiana LR armor set all the way here so this looks like a nice upgrade to stop getting one-shot by some attacks, ha, but I don't want to use it mixed.

Try doing investigations with silver or gold rewards, that's the easiest way to get monster gems afaik, still have to pray to rngesus though.

Finally gave IGs a shot last night, made about 4 of them. It finally clicked after 3 games.

All it took was watching a guide to understand about the power ups. It just felt clunky without that speed and power boost. No natural para option outside of a taroth weapon is a bummer though.

HR doesnt mean anything. Mhw is not an rpg so there is no levelling system, everything is based on equipment and your skill.

Really? Investigations give diff rewards? I haven't done a single one, lmao. Can't do 7 star investigations either yet lol, guess I have to progress and raise my HR but it sucks being so close to the pink rath set and not having it as my first HR armor because of a single item drop :oP

The bronze/silver/gold boxes on the investigation are random extra monster part rewards. Silver and gold have reasonable chances of getting gems/rubies (>10/20%).
The chance of gems in a carve or capture reward is very low (<5%).

Mixed sets are the way to go though. Pink rath gauntlets aren't anything special (windproof?) and I don't think the set bonus is any good (some poison boost thing?)

IMO rubies are best saved for weapons unless the armour is really important to your build.

Don't forget to do limited bounties. I just use gold prints to make a gems if I'm too lazy to farm.

Trying to use the charge blade and I feel like i never go to axe unless i'm using the super amped element discharge or rare occassions where I'm playing with a friend and trying to get a tail. Should I be using axe more? I feel like I'm so slow I'm to disadvantaged by being in that form. Just about to fight Nergigante, so pretty early still.

Man, I'm having a really hard time getting the last two claws I need for my drachen set, most of the low-high rank players are hilariously unprepared for the fight so we rarely make it past the second area and joining a group of high rank players is pointless because I'll just get kicked out since I'm still in the 50's myself, i can't really blame them either I'll probably do the same thing if I were them.
I wish they would at least check my gear instead of just kicking me out though.

You can throw in a morph combo (morph slash, element discharge, morph slash) to spend your vials, but generally you don't stay in axe mode.
