Oh thank god. I thought you meant that it gave you feeling of eating "octopus pie", which sounds like an incredibly disgusting food someone came up with in Australia like 150 years ago but it's just part of the culture now.

Is there a list of VR games that the crew (especially Jeff) likes somewhere? I know the main stuff (Superhot, Rec Room, Moss etc) but a comprehensive list would be cool. Thinking about getting an oculus soon

For all you Aussies out here who are curious about Outback Steakhouse If y'all try it out in the state, it's honestly one of the most anti-Australian chain restaurants out there. Seriously don't expect any meat pies, Vegemite or Pavlova to be served. Food is very much American flair. Actually Meat Pies should be on the menu for a steakhouse. I honestly don't know why they're called Outback Steakhouse.

They make an alright sirloin for a decent price though.

my first and only time at an outback steakhouse was in shibuya, tokyo, which leant an extra air of unreality to the entire experience

Everytime I die, I like the game less. I mean, I think it is a very good game wrapped around a shitty structure. If it was a pure metroidvania it would have been fucking great but so far it just feels tedious to me because runs take long and they take even longer if you have shitty drops. I reached the final boss a couple of times but I keep dying and my motivation for beating the game keeps going down. I know I'll eventually beat the game but I would have enjoyed it way more if it wasn't rougelike.

100% agreed. Dead Cells is a good game trapped in a crap structure. Unless you beat the game in a handful of runs Klepek-style, all motivation to finish the game eventually leaves you after the 50th run where you almost beat the last boss.

I beat Dead Cells in about 10 hours, only reaching the boss a handful of times before taking it down. I haven't loaded it a single time since then, but I never got tired of playing or even the least bit frustrated. Every time I died seemed like my fault and the souls I used along the way made it never feel like I was just wasting my time when it happened. *shrug*

I finally got past the Clock Tower in Dead Cells and when I'm up for it, I'll fight the second boss. I have a Wolf Trap and Cross Bow turret as well as an impaler and quick bow. Hopefully that's a good layout against this new boss fight.

I'm starting to agree with you. The early game is fun, but once you've unlocked the runes and the majority of the blueprints, it slows the fuck down. It's a roguelike I only feel like doing one run per session - it's not like Isaac where I feel like I can play dozens of runs in a row.

Yeah, I don't like Dead Cells at all really. It's fine to just bash my head against mindlessly while watching Brooklyn Nine Nine on my second monitor or something, but that's about it.

I've decided I'm going to wait on Yakuza Kiwami 2 with Spider-Man the week after...

Yakzua Kiwami 2 is probably better suited for the dead of winter since I have a stacked lineup to end the year.

  • Spider-Man
  • AC: Odyssey
  • Hitman 2
  • "maybe" Just Cause 4

Donut County looks so bad and the only reason I've even heard of it is because old mate was on that GB E3 video.

Why is there hype for that game?

If I don't pick up a PS4 at some point, and I probably won't unless a crazy deal comes along, I'm only really in for this year:
  • Hitman 2
  • Smash Ultimate
  • Yakuza Kiwami 1 PC if it releases this year
  • Xenoblade 2 DLC
  • Maybe Spyro Reignited just for nostalgia
  • Maybe the Persona dancing games if I can score a bundle
If there's a good PS4 bundle or something I'll go for God of War, Kiwami 2, and Spidey.

My list which I can and will subtract from depending on reviews

  • Donut County
  • The Messenger
  • Spider-Man
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ (missed it)
  • Shovel Knight: King of Cards
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Mega Man 11
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (I feel deep down this is going to suck, but I need to keep up with the zeitgeist)
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Spyro Remastered (these games just look so much better and more fun than Crash)
What other indie games are dropping this year? I need to expand this list

Which is a shame because the gameplay is great. I feel like I had more fun when I died with Enter The Gungeon than with Dead Cells but that's because when you know how to play and what to expect, it takes less than 30 minutes to reach the final level and so the sense of you wanting to beat the game gets injected in you in spades. The only thing that's bad about Enter The Gungeon is that the start of it is tedious but once you play for like 2-3 hours you'll find yourself getting good/great drops often and the chances for you to get stuff is a lot if you know what to do with some of the secret stuff.
Donut County looks so bad and the only reason I've even heard of it is because old mate was on that GB E3 video.

Why is there hype for that game?

Because it looks very charming and relaxing.

It's time to suck the world.
