It's something I've noticed a lot on this board, and it probably happens on others as well. In short, do you get influenced by the first couple of posts in a thread and end up joining along with the groupthink of whatever the trend is in that thread? Whether it's because you want to be on "the right side" of a thread or because you want to say something?

Example, the John McCain thread. A lot of posts commented on how soon his death happened after he stopped treatment. And the wave began...

"Wow that happened really quickly after stopping treatment. R.I.P."

"RIP. When they stopped treatment I thought he had maybe a week or two, not hours."

"That's way faster than expected, RIP. T"

"Damn, that was fast."

"It happened so soon after the treatment stopped."

I'm using that thread as an example because it's the most recent one I can think of.

Do you think you do this, whether intentionally or unintentionally? Figure it's an interesting thing to think about and how the words of those before us potentially influence our thoughts and opinions.

We do not need another meta-commentary thread discussing John McCain's passing.
