Thinking about purchasing the international note 9. It has unlockable bootloader so the things I don't like about Samsung would be changeable. Unfortunately no Samsung pay though.

The struggle is real. Some people are hoping the Pixel 3 notch is an elaborate troll by Google. They would be gods among men if they pulled that off.

No chance, there are youtubers that were being contacted by the seller selling it for 2k. The 3 XL is like the most Google thing ever to do.

Wonder how long til it gets pulled again.

I feel like Google's Android focused teams are pretty shit lately from hardware to software.
Their current software changes are pretty weird. They've switched over the contacts, phone dialer, and now messages to this new design which kind of sucks. They've switched over to these really pastel colors on a white backdrop.

It's largely because every move they make is in the spotlight in the media. Samsung gets FAR less media attention (especially with their apps). Apple gets the PR but only makes updates like this once a year.

"In your opinion." Most love MD2 but many dislike all the white. There is a reason for all the white. A little thing called dark theme that everyone has been wanting for years. You can't just flip a mix of colors to a dark theme. It would be a disaster visually.

Material design is bringing dark theme to all the googely stuff this fall. It's right in their official public roadmap.

Interesting, didn't know they were bringing dark theme to all apps. The dark them they have in messages is ugly(imo) with all of the color on a black background.

People fuck up dark themes but not actually making them dark.

You got go #000000 on these OLEDs. Not dark grey.

Pocket Casts figured this out by releasing a 2nd dark theme called really dark or some shit that was basically tailor made for OLED.

#000000 absolutely sucks and is as much of an eyesore as white themes. Everything feels exactly like when you were 13 and went to edit Windows colours, go for pure black, then realise it was not a good idea because it looks like shit. The only use case it looks marginally good is on OLED but that's a minority of users worldwide and the battery savings AFAIK are negligible unless it's literally one app you're looking at all day.

Why does YouTube Kids still suck on Android? It's so far behind the iOS version which has allowed curated collection selection for months now (which is the only way YouTube is appropriate for younger kids).

True blacks look ugly most of the time. I only use it on Sync for Reddit.

Even if it's less straining than the blinding white Google uses, it's still harder on the eyes than dark grey.

Are there any good 5.0 true wireless earbuds $200 and below? I tried the jabra active elite and while audio quality is good the left earbud has a hiss and it's louder then the right.

We are in an Android thread where all of the normal posters all have OLED phones, and true blacks look a shit ton better than grey in these devices.

I've got the 65t's and encountered the same problem. It's a firmware issue, which I'm pretty sure was introduced with the latest version (2.10.0 I believe). I ran into the issue and requested a replacement from Jabra. The replacement worked flawlessly UNTIL I updated them to the latest firmware. Contacted support about it and they said their engineers are aware of the problem and the next firmware release should fix it. That was about a month ago though, so I think I'm just going to replace these and then not update the next pair.

I'm on my second pair and couldn't find info about the imbalance anywhere when looking online. Since there's not even an option to revert I'll probably just end up returning these and waiting to see if they improve. These were my first pair of bluetooth headphones and this doesn't sit well with me that they can leave that unfixed for so long.

Yeah the situation isn't great, and like you said there's basically nothing about it online. I'm going to try my luck with a third pair and probably just never update them, since it's apparent Jabra's QA is abysmal if they'd push out an update like this and then take at least a month to push out a fix.

Day Era on Kiwi Browser with 100% night theme applied... Whew.

I will say though there are soms annoying buggy elements.

Lol why to those Note 9 shots look like absolute trash? I swear PhoneArena is the only site that always has the crazy outlier results in their testing, especially when it comes to battery. Seems like from this test, the Pixel XL2 is definitely the more consistent shooter. I also like how 75% still voted for the Pixel in the 3rd scene. Blind tests really should be the only way to do this.

I think I'm going to return my Gear S3.

As much as I like the look of it, I'm just not fining it that useful, either because I don't need a smart watch in general, or because the Gear S3 in particular has such a lack of apps available.

Samsung Pay is great, but I don't think it's worth $200 just for that feature. And with the lack of apps I definitely don't want to use it with a standalone data plan

I think the Gear Icon X is only Bluetooth 4.1, but they're still the best ones I've tried. Prefer them to the Jabra myself (found those ones very uncomfortable and I didn't like their controls).

Can't speak to the overall sound quality (not much of an audiophile), but it sounds good to me, no hissing at least, and it doesn't seem to have audio lag when watching videos like a lot of other true wireless earbuds (at least not to the point I notice it and I'm pretty sensitive about that).

Connection is much more solid than my Bose Soundsport Free's ever were; just putting a case on my phone was enough to block signal with those ones, ugh. And I like some of the extra features like downloading music directly to the earbuds.

Considering how hard those shots are in those conditions I wouldn't say the note shots are trash at all.

So UFA is going to commence soon, and with it comes announcements. First news of the year is a bit of an anomaly.
https://m.gsmarena.com/lg_g7_one_lg_g7_fit_official_announcement-news-32965.php

LG has decided to go for a tiered flagship approach, and I honestly can't fault them. Theoretically, the SD821 isn't the worst processor out there, and its still capable in todays market. Its also very nice to see more companies besides Nokia jump on the Android One train for their flagship devices, and the G7 One with a SD835 is exactly that. Considering current G7 prices, if they go for something like 350 for the G7 fit and 450-500 for the One, maybe they can have a better outlook for the mobile division compared to the last year. I personally love LG for their Android UX, but theu have baffling chip choices for the midrange, and could never afford their flagship devices to be able to enjoy owning one. This might just be the solution I'm looking for.

I pity anyone getting a SD 821 with only 3K battery nowadays. After 6 months of use that phone will struggle just keeping its charge in standby, and good luck getting more than 3 hours SOT.

Is LG having bootloop problems still?

No, that was a SD808/810 problem due to poor soldering. They still have serious trouble (read as: they don't give a fuck) with updates outside of Korea though so I wouldn't even trust them with an Android One phone.
