Have they done this with other entries before? Like, this much all around the same time? Even if they haven't I don't think this necessarily means anything like a remake/sequel/???

I always assumed we'd get the mobile and potentially PS4 rerelease next year with the 20th anniversary. SE like to dripfeed this stuff and we've already got VII and IX, it's well overdue.

Don't expect them at the same time though. They'll make you wait at least a couple of months so you double dip.

I started a playthrough of VIII last week. My first time properly playing it for a good 8-10 years. Feels good. It was my first FF so it will always have a special place in my heart.

I really hope SE port it to current consoles and phones etc, maybe update the Steam version to not be bad (I'm using mods). It's the 20th anniversary next year so it's the perfect time for it.

Yeah, first they need to release the FF 8 port to PS4. Not doing this has been kind of ridiculous.

My first venture into Final Fantasy and therefore one of my favourites by default. Would love a collection released for the switch, but would also love a remaster for the PS4.

Yeah, that's three more or less dead systems. What's wrong with a port? VII got a port and that's not stopping it getting a remake.

PS4 port would be forwards compatible with PS5 etc. So it really does make sense to ask for just one more port.

I'd prefer an 8 remake over getting one for 7. That's the kind of game that would really benefit from a complete gameplay overhaul.

I think they already have enough huge projects to mismanage, they really don't need one more.

OP, I feel like these game are the types that receive content frop all FF games, so it's to be expected they would get content from VIII from time to time... I wouldn't read too much into it.

And I'm saying all this as a fan of FF VIII (my favourite FF with X).

nothin to stop them. port it to android. to linux. to fridges. And keep up-porting instead of having a free backwards compatibility, and support it all you like until there so many versions of the "same" there is nothing more to do.

I don't need no more, i guess. (but thats the reality of 'content' me, were my old console aren't kept dead on the attic)

I think PS4 port might happen at TGS but if it still doesn't appear then it's being saved for 20th Anniversary. They avoided the PS4 port questions on the livestream with Kitase even though it was the most asked question.

I play most of these games and trust me, it's not common for this much overlap to happen within 2 months. This isn't normal for one game to receive so much attention at once unless it's VII.

The way they handled Rinoa's announcement and release for NT was completely different from Locke and Vayne.

Because they're reasonably slow/budgeted for porting and they like to stagger their releases. It's really that simple. It's coming eventually, just not in order. Seems like 20th anniversary (six months away) is pretty good timing to boot as well.

By the way, I'm pretty sure SE will remake the game one day, definitely after VII Remake and XVI.

Square should do a all-in FF I-IX Collection in Remastered 4K. At like 70 bucks. 35 bucks on mobile.

Another one as X-XIII (including X-2, XIII-2 and LR) Collection in Remastered 4K. Add some 70 bucks. 35 bucks on mobile.

And a full on FF I-XV (including mobile XV on lesser platforms) Collection. For like 100 bucks. 50 bucks on mobile.

And port that to any platform (including mobile) you can forever.

They should do that because it would be their most successful product ever IMO.

Hopefully a mobile phone port mtx options to alleviate the constabt random battles and grinding.

Lol this would be like square enix shooting their load in one go. Never going to happen. Their business model relies in drip feeding fans.

They already bundle on mobile and it's more expensive than what you proposed lol

But yeah they'd never do that. Way too cheap compared to selling individually. And the file size would be way too big.

I like this one the most out of all psx ones because we played enough VII when I was a child. But this one has an amazing setting.
