Majority of the guys I know that play this game have moved on to Madden for good. Definitely more so than in past years it seems. I'm retired from Madden though. Never again.

Oh yea? Are they doing that for NHL too? That was one of the main reasons I prefer DD to UT

I'm usually done with MLB by this point of the season but I want to finish a couple more immortals and get my last Musial bobblehead done first

This is the first year that Ultimate Team got rid of contracts so that aspect is much better than years past.
Yeah good move on their part and the solos are more rewarding as everyone I've watched had an all elite squad within a couple days. I'm just tired of their engine, played the game competitively the last few years and if you don't use the meta plays you have no chance. That and three man rushes getting in when blocking six.

For solo and franchise guys, looks like it's a good year though.

Anyone still playing?

Once I get immortal Ryan and Wagner I think I'm done lol

Nah. I had put close to 400 hours into last year's game, basically gave up on this year's game by July. Some of the reason is I think I actually liked the program setup from last year more. I understand the idea behind Immortals but I feel like it only took 3-4 months for a lot of people to have an end game team. I also for some reason this summer got into trying to make a dent in my single player game backlog, finish up like 5-6 different games which felt good. Also I'm kind of digging Madden this year. Playing a good amount of MUT which has a lot of solo content and finally got rid of contracts.

Consensus is this was a step in the wrong direction this year, especially with them dangling immortals in front of us for three months and releasing them all right away. The subreddit definitely isn't as active at this time of the year. It's going to come down to great surprises to bring people back. All I've heard rumored is immortal Ted. Would love to see some more variety in h2h, but there's really no reason for that to happen if you put the time in for the grind.

170 packs later I'm done for the season......no diamond players :|

Was playing earlier tonight and it just felt tiring, 544 hours of DD will do that to you

At least I was able to re-watch Breaking Bad while grinding immortals lol

I've jumped back into this, especially for Diamond Dynasty, and I really hope MLB The Show 19 has a much better way of showing progress on program missions so that I don't have to look at nearly a hundred individual programs to double check if I've completed any of its missions.

I think the grind has beaten me. Seeing some of these final push grinds makes me feel sick to my stomach. Why go through the effort of creating and marketing immortals when only a tiny fraction of players will actually get to play with them. Makes no sense to me.

Yeah that's a valid point.

This video does a decent job summing up the thoughts of the majority of the community.

Now that the immortals are out in the wild, people aren't as excited for content drops.

Yep this year definitely won't keep me from the next one. I'll just keep playing h2h. The amount of friendly quits offered to the immortal squad in h2h is comical.

I'll give it a shot this evening. Murray looks like a good bench bat. I'm sure there will be Youtube videos out soon to show the most efficient route to take.

Wasn't that bad if you're going for it. Extreme seems more difficult.

Rookie Ted is free starting today
No souvenirs required for any immortals going forward. One of them will in the ticket counter between 12-15k tickets. Two of them will be required to make WS in ranked seasons
There are still at least 5+ immortals they haven't shown yet including Ted Williams
Each team gets a Future Star today, these arcs will go towards immortal George Brett which can be earned for free through the grind
Ohtani is in packs only

Only game they play all year. That Eckersly and Trout are free as well, but can't be unlocked completely until the rest of the content drops in a few weeks.

So... how do you grind these programs out? I find myself doing CPU Rookie games in COL and CIN constantly and it's boring as hell but all I'm doing is trying to crack these ridiculous CG SHO and SV missions to unlock dudes to just use the new dudes in the same way. It's the definition of insanity.

Same, a lot of Rockies and Conquest games. I also used event and RS games when I got bored with the CPU.

Babe Ruth grind is by far the worst. I would just sub him in with no stamina against the rookie cpu to speed up the process, but it still took weeks.

I want to love this game but I'm learning to hate it. And this sucks. It doesn't respect my time and that's the worst. Over $400 and 250 hours into this year's game and I still don't have a single immortal unlocked. It's like the game is giving me the finger.

Yeah you're not alone there, especially on the Shownation forums. Hopefully these new immortals alleviate some of that. The grind doesn't look anywhere near as bad and no souvenir paywall is a good decision. I'll probably throw in the towel when Red Dead is here, but I'll crank these out while the postseason is on.
