I currently have Game Pass, but I think I'm going to purchase this game digitally so I can play it on PC in the future as well.

Watch Dogs 1 wanted i7 3770 for recommended and i7 4770k for ultra..
Watch Dogs 2 Requires an i5 for minimum and recommended lol

The day these guys finally show off their work on Fable, it will be a glorious day.

My wild guess: getting to 60FPS on XB1X requires disabling some rendering pipeline stuff that Playground/Turn 10 wouldn't let players disable in FH3. That kind of update may have been enough to make life better for PC players across the performance spectrum. Great news, no matter how they pulled it off.

My less-wild guess: UWP is still going to be a headache. I have to uninstall Win10 games after testing just to stay under my 1TB/mo bandwidth cap, because they, seemingly without fail, keep trying to redownload patches over and over for no apparent reason.

I am kind of excited for this game since I just picked up an Xbox One. I suppose this might be my major Xbox release for the year.

Although I guess I'll only be getting 30fps since I don't have an X, but if I could enjoy Driveclub with it's sense of speed despite being 30, I'll likely get the same enjoyment from Horizon 4.

My biggest problem with FH3 is bad frame pacing. Even Afteburner can't fix it because it introduces different kind of stuttering (huge frame spikes). I also get occasional crashes to desktop.

I'm still a little skeptical but we shall see.

If Microsoft needs a year to fix a single game, we can only guess how long it will take them to fix an entire ecosystem. ;)

No doubt the UWP/store exclusivity will hurt FH4 sales badly on PC.

They needed a year because they had to redo the whole threads management of the game engin, it's not an UWP problem at all (but yeah blaming UWP is so easy...), only that the game engine was not built with 60 FPS (and more) in mind because it was a console only engine for years.

They learnt a lot from this first PC experience and FH4 will definitely benefit from it, with further optimisations and settings to push the details even more (but then, people with bad PCs will yell that the game is not optimized when they put every setting to extreme value, because they just can't understand how PC work...).

I'm just hoping my 2GB of vram will cut it this time. The FH3 demo (even on lowest settings at 1080p) has a constant warning on screen about it that can't be turned off.

Do you have a source for this? I mean, it's not like the X1 doesn't have multiple cores...
The devs themselves, just look for the update history of the game on their forum.

The Xbox One version ran at 30 FPS, at 30 FPS the game ran perfectly well on PC, but going for 60 was hard mostly in the big city as the background streaming thread was eating too much on the main thread (or something like that).
They even left the old thread setting (disabled by default) if in rare cases it ran better than the new thread management.

Play Anywhere for the win. I will absolutely love that smooth experience again, jumping from Xbox One X to PC and vice versa. It still has some kind of magic attached to it knowing your save state, progression etc. is always just .... There.

Cross-play ensures the community is huge no matter your platform.

Dont you get tired of this? In every Xbox/Windows store thread. MS isn't going to suddenly release FH4 on any other store cos you keep complaining about it. if you think the store isn't worth it then don't use it.. one thing is certain though the number of gamers using the window store will increase with the launch of this game.

Quoting you a second time because I found the source : https://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/fh3_hot_wheels_available

In fact it did not take one year but a few months, game released on October 2016, big CPU update on May 2017.
They even lowered the minimum spec following these optimisations.

Improved CPU Performance
We have observed that a large portion of players are CPU limited when trying to run Forza Horizon 3 at high frame rates, including locked 60 FPS and unlocked. By analyzing telemetry, we have developed targeted optimizations for this group of affected players by increasing the number of concurrent threads used by the render architecture. We have taken further advantage of DX12 capabilities to allow the visuals to be processed out of order during the frame, in order to reduce synchronization stalls and decrease CPU execution duration. These changes result in a significant CPU performance gain on High or Ultra settings when running on PCs of Recommended spec or better.

Updated Thread Model
We have updated our threading affinity model to make better use of all available cores. Along with this change, we have added a new graphics option to disable the new model, should you prefer. This option can be found in the Video Settings menu under "Threaded Optimization".

If I can get 1440p locked 60fps on my 6600/1070 I'll be extremely satisfied. FH3 was close after about 18 months of patches (lol).

Hope this game launches as smoothly as SoT and SoD2 on PC. Had troubles with Age of Empires:Definitive Edition and the Sea of Thieves beta. But Sea of Thieves launch went flawless.

Fingers crossed.

I know a lot of PC players want everything on Steam but in the broader context of things we now get to play Xbox games on the PC. Things have also improved on Windows store as well.

My RTX 2080 Ti will be ready, Forza Horizon 3 ran a little worse than what I would have wanted on my GTX 1080.

Seriously so impressed. Best in the business.
I think they are the best developer in the Xbox stable...by far.

I find FH3 to be the best racing game this generation. I played the shit out of the game on my PC and I assume FH4 will take FH3s crown.

Motorsport is great too, but I have way more fun with Horizon.

People should watch this. Gears had also a "Insane" setting for a couple of options.

Can't argue with that. But I'll play FH4 on Xbox One anyway. I will not support an ecosystem that tries to lock down PC gaming into a console-like walled garden.
To be fair MS don't care where you play as long as you play the game.

It's not like Steam is going away so I can deal with the windows store for MS games. Not that big of a deal. I have a battle.net account for blizzard games and origin account for EA games.

Seems like a weird argument when you have more options playing on Windows. Too many on forums seem to get caught up on "principles" that I'm amazed they still enjoy the hobby.

Nintendo and Sony aren't even giving you that option for their games. Forza Horizon 3 didn't even allow a 60fps mode on the Xbox before, did you go down that road then too?
