Drops off of these dudes. Pretty common blueprint drop at 1.7% per the wiki.

edit: the rarest drops are Spiteful Sword, Bow & Endless Quiver and Bloodthirsty Shield all at 0.03%.

Amzingly, I already have Bloodthirsty Shield.

1.7% may sound like a high rate but these guys only appear in one biome and in fairly small numbers, you fight maybe 5 of them in a run.

I am so bad at this game. I have like 10 hours since I reinstalled at 1.0 and have only played and beaten 1 boss.

Try making a tactical build with torrents and ice bow or freezing spell, that is the easiest way to go far on levels at the beginning. You can basically put the torrents and stay in a safe place, and if some enemy gets too close you freeze it with the bow or spell.

Maybe I will try the safe approach instead of the highest dps sword approach.

I've finally beaten Conjunctivius, although I've heard the next area (Slumbering Sanctuary) was very hard :(

Edit: Area cleared on my first try. Wasn't that hard!

Has anyone gotten their signature edition yet? I got an "A shipment is on the way" email a week ago but following the link in there it still says they're getting it ready. I see on the website that they've sold out of wave one, but I'm assuming they would have told me if my order was delayed, right? I ordered on the 5th of August, shipping to US.

I got my physical copy, and am really liking Dead Cells. There are more mechanics here than I expected, and am glad for it. I also picked up Hollow Knight, and am not feeling it as it feels so, ahem, empty, and dreary.

Anyways, is there any reason that I should use the analog stick instead of what passes for a D-pad on the Switch? I noticed that there is analog movement, but have not seen any reason why I'd walk instead of run.

Quick question: on a 1 cell run, is there any strategic value to not refilling my health flask? like, will I be able to refill on the next level instead?

This game is stupid addicting.

30 hours put in and haven't even beat the game once.

What a beautiful slow burn this game will be. Hop in and play anytime.

Cheesed a run with traps, heavy turret, endless bow that pierced enemies, and a legendary shield. Tactics high, obv. Clocktower and Palace were easy-peasy since I had an invisibility pendant as well.

Got lots of blueprints, but died while the HotK had like 10% health left. :/ Sometimes cheese during a run isn't the best endgame plan. I need to plan ahead better and keep my eye on the prize.

For those of you who like to play with shields, how do you normally like to use them?

Do you just use them because of their passive damage reduction? Or do you actively make sure to parry frequently too?

I use them to parry a lot. I never pick up the one that can't parry, actually. One reason is that it can be pretty effective against some enemies, and the other is that it just feels cool.

Last run was a bow and shield run with traps and turret. It felt awesome to lock enemies down, focus fire them, and parry anything that came out of it.

Maybe not the ideal way to play, but feels fun to me.

That said, on some boss phases like Conjunctivitis's denser (later) blasts, it's super handy to have a shield to straight-up block with because they can be hard to dodge.

In the end, though, I mostly use them because they are fun to actively use (for me.)

Edit: I can't speak to their "meta" usefulness because I am kind of a middling player who just really likes the game.

I don't know that I'll ever beat the Hand of the King or w/e. If I'm not cheesing it with a purple build, I'm getting annihilated by earlier bosses.

Man this game is good, I just wish the Switch performance was better.
You and me both, and I don't even own it on Switch. ;)

I had been hyped for months to play this game on Switch, but when I heard that version had issues I bought it on PS4.

But, I still find myself thinking of double dipping for the Switch version because it seems like the perfect platform to own it on. Each time I see a post like yours I'm reminded that I'll likely regret it if I pull the trigger though.

One day I'll buy a Switch and this may be the first game I purchase. The thought of doing a run or two during my lunch break at work is tantalizing.

The blueprint extractor is hard to use, gotta stand still and not get hit for a while so make sure you got a freeze at hand... Well, at least I got endless bow now.

I finally made it to the Hand of the King and he killed me in less than 20 seconds. I'm dead inside.

Fuckkkk
A big help to survive is to stack damage resistance. The cap is 75%, and helps a lot. Easiest way to reach it is ice/fire grenade, though there are other ways hit it.

Also, Novril just put up a video that gives some tips for harder runs. Some of the tips are also good for newcomers.

I am trading in mine.
I hate the fact that you have to start all over from the beginning of the game every time you die

I'm at the 25 hour mark on Switch, have gotten to the Castle at least a dozen times, but each time I've gotten there I'm either a glass canon or I just can't do enough damage. I've got all the health flask upgrades and normally do tactics builds. Been trying the past few runs to clear through the Graveyard to get whatever blueprints I missed there and it's been brutal. I feel like I can never get the right balance of damage and health and I very rarely have runs where I get damage reduction items. Any tips?

It's really disappointing. I can just taste what a smooth 60fps experience would be like for this game. Alas, my wife is playing through Red Dead again, so I wanted something to play while she plays on the TV.

Hopefully the patch in November will solve the issues.

Why does it constantly tell me I need 4 more daily challenges to get the next reward? Do I need to do the same challenge 5 goddamn times, I feel like I did it 2 days in a row and it said 4 times after both runs

From what it looks like the console versions are glitched and don't count your dailies properly?

Also when do the dailies actually switch? I played at 8 pm last night and 9 am this morning and it was the same one

So the framerate drops below 60 regularly on Switch?

It's worth pointing out that the other console versions do also suffer from some issues. I haven't seen this discussed much here.

For starters, all versions of the game have this frame jumping quirk, where it feels like the game engine skips a second. I see this on my PS4 Pro, and I've seen people on XB1X say it happens there as well. I assume this issue happens more often on Switch, but it seems to happen regardless of the power being thrown at it, and I find it a bit irritating. The developer said something related to this will be improved in a soon to be released update, but it's unclear to what extent.

Besides that frame jump quirk, the PS4 Pro rarely drops below 60fps, but I have seen it happen during the most intense moments possible. Specifically the magnetic grenade pulling a bunch of enemies together with all sorts of effects going off simultaneously.

Why does it constantly tell me I need 4 more daily challenges to get the next reward? Do I need to do the same challenge 5 goddamn times, I feel like I did it 2 days in a row and it said 4 times after both runs
This should be fixed in a patch arriving in the next week or so.

I dunno, I think I'm done. I've unlocked pretty much everything I want to unlock and no more blueprints are showing up, and 1-cell mode is just really hard to the point I'm not having fun with it. Oh well, it was cool while it lasted.

Me when I started: why would anyone use anything but double Crossbows!?

Me when I got my first Ice Bow: This is broken, no reason to use anything else

Me when I decided to try Survivabilty builds bc I kept kept getting owned by any hit with a Tactics build: SHIELDS! SHIELDS! SHIELDS!

Seriously, I feel damn invincible. Concierge especially telegraphs all his moves with huge windows to parry. I love being aggressive and getting in an enemy's face. If they dare try to attack me I can just parry the blow and punish tf out of them. And it's not even that risky because Survival builds have HUGE hp.

My favorite shield mod is "Enemies parried take 300% damage from the next hit." With Assault Shield that means that the Bash becomes incredible lethal. I've almost stopped using Tactics at all because I don't need them. I do like them for bosses because I playa little more conservative and it's nice having a constant DPS source while I learn boss attack timings.

Last tip: go for slow swing weapons that do big damage over fast hitting if you run shields. You want to do as much damage in your opening as possible.

I'm just starting really, and just scraped past the first boss. The daily challenge today seemed really hard- do they vary a bit, or do I just need to get better :D

Thanks for the advice, I should try that.
