Is a proper dpad worth it for Hollow Knight? Might be the game that gets me to get off my ass and mess with my pro controller.
For this type of game, I actually really like the segmented d-pad. You know exactly which direction(s) you're pressing. Thought I have found I prefer the handheld config vs. using the shell that came with the console. I haven't been playing it on my TV very much, but I did beat Steamworld Dig 2 and Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap using joycons in the shell.

i'm about to list something on Kijiji for the first time (a bike), any tips before I start this adventure? I've always been a bit weary of this shit hearing horror stories from people.

Tomorrow at 8am I'm helping with a Garage Sale of excess items from the collection. There will be gaming items, TVs and a variety of other objects.

I will see you there. Driving my tesla model 3 :)

Do you have any idea of the price ranges of some of the games? Trying to figure out how much cash etc to bring.

Anyone on Public Mobile get a text from Koodo about switching?

Switch to Koodo and get 5GB of data for $35/month OR 8GB of data for $40/month! PLUS $180 in bill credits. Plans include unlimited Canada-wide minutes & unlimited international text. You may be eligible for a $0 phone with the Koodo Tab. Switch online at https://Koo.do/choosekoodo or at your nearest Koodo location and use promo code JOINKOODOAUGDATA by September 4th, 2018. Offer available for -. You're included on the list for Public Mobile offers and deals. To be excluded, reply unsubscribe. *Conditions apply

The 8GB for $40 seems pretty good, but do I have to worry about them jacking up prices later on?

Very cool to see this. Syd was a friend as well, and I was as shocked as anyone to hear of his sudden death. Every visit to the PC Museum was a magical trip through Willy Wonka's!

I really enjoyed visiting the museum every couple of weeks to see what was new. His entire collection is pretty fantastic!

Wait, theyre closing the pc museum? Might have to make that trip down

Unfortunately the museum has been closed and the items inside will be sold. They're seeking buyers as we speak. I'm fairy knowledgeable about what is inside so I've been assisting with that. This is one of the largest personal computer and game collections on the planet.

I will see you there. Driving my tesla model 3 :)

I can't give you exact prices but what will be at the garage sale are overflow items and sold to move and help Syd's Wife with the financial situation she is in now. So you won't be able to go down to the private collection or into the PC museum and purchase anything from there. Last I looked there was a boxed NES, boxed Mega Drive, CRT TVs and a few other items.

I finally received my Brim Financial Mastercard after 5 months of applying. What's worse I already asked for the cancellation of this card. Anyone got theirs?

People like to exaggerate, it's not that bad. Meet in a public spot, not your house or theirs. Don't travel too far because the person just might not show up for a meet.

I doubt they'll raise the prices. Definitely switching to the $35 plan.

This tomorrow then the Barrie show on Sunday = a potentially expensive weekend with a lot of driving for me.

I think it is one of the first gen X1 Controllers that doesn't support bluetooth on PC?
Have not seen the S controller revision marketed as PC (i.e. with the USB charging cable), so probably the older one, though maybe the one with the 3.5mm audio jack (2nd revision). If it's missing that, it's the original with the shoulders/bumpers that everyone seems to hate (I have this and it's not a problem for me).

If you're looking in-store, green packaging is pre-Bluetooth revision. I've found the S revision didn't play nice with Windows 7 (even when wired) but works flawlessly in Windows 10. But this is because I don't have either the official wireless/BT adaptor or one of those fancy third party ones that might make pairing a breeze.

Also it only comes in black.

Got my limited PS4 coming and checked out eBay prices. Yep, it's going up there for sure now.

There's one posted locally on Kijiji for $1200. Honestly, I hope the guy doesn't find a buyer and gets stuck with it.

I'm not even sure I want to spend $75 on one of the controllers, considering it's a glossy fingerprint magnet.

I switched with them last spring. Still no sign of raising my plan. However, they do tempt you with a different kinds of plan but in a higher plan. So that they can get rid of you of the $40/month. They actually got a promo for an add-on of 10GB for $15. That's 16gb for $55.

I got mine a week and a half ago

Finally got approved today by email. Applied back in April.

I'm still waiting for mine. Glad to hear it wasn't a scam after all though.
I see. It seems they did really delivery finally.

Did you get a reply saying it was cancelled?
Yes, I did. I was kinda surprised when I saw the email saying that I was approved when I already request for a cancellation.

EDIT:
No-fee FX credit cards in the market right now:
HomeTrust Visa Preferred - 0 fee
Brim Financial Mastercard - 0 fee
Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite - $139
HSBC World Elite Mastercard - $150

I guess Amazon VISA leaving gave a good shake-up in our no fee credit card market. Hopefully other BIG 5 banks follow suit.

Bonus: Rogers Mastercard - $0 fee but with 0.5% net cashback or 1.5% if you are eligible for World Elite

"Stuck with it" until they return it to the store for a full refund.

I decided to make the switch to their $40 for 8GB plan. Turns out there's also a $15 credit every month for the first year so I'll be paying $30 after tax for a year before going up to $40.

Yeah. No way someone is getting stuck with something so limited. Not sure how these will compare to the Anniversary consoles. But those were easily going for 2 grand plus. Mind you there was a lot less of them. But still. In the end, even if the guy's window closes on returning it to store, there's no way he sells it without making profit.

Though that being said. I looked at some of the completed auctions on ebay. Some people screwed up big time and didnt consider their ebay/paypal fees when listing (not to mention taxes they spent on their purchase). Some of those sellers have lost money on listing.

Hey, everyone!
I tried to look for a more general Canada OT in Era, but got no luck. I've only just stumbled into the politics one!
I'm arriving for the first time in Canada next week. I'm going to spend a few months going back and forth between Toronto and London for a postgrad internship.

I'll have a free week in Toronto before heading to London (will be staying near the North York Station). Most likely London on weekdays and Toronto on weekends. After the internship is over, I'll squeeze a couple of weeks of vacation, on which I plan to travel to Montreal/Ottawa/Quebec.
I've done some reading, mostly on London/Toronto, and would love to hear from the locals. If there's anything in particular you'd like to share or recommend! Please do!
Thanks!

PS: Sorry for de-railing the gaming OT!

Can someone help me understanding the Airbnb long term cancellation policy?

On Airbnb it says:
"If the guest books a reservation and decides to cancel the reservation during their stay, the guest must use the online alteration tool in order to agree to a new checkout date. Regardless of the checkout date chosen, the guest is required to pay the host for the 30 days following the cancellation date, or up to the end date of the guest's original reservation if the remaining portion of the original reservation is less than 30 days."

What I want to do is to shorten the reservation dates and shorten the checkout date by a month earlier since I found another accomodation. The Check-In day is October 2nd and is over a month in advanced.

So for Airbnb's policy, if I shorten it, would I have to pay for the second month? I would like to stay for the first month but would want the get the second month refunded (though I only paid for the first month at the moment)

Look over at the Toronto OT for Toronto-specific stuff and recommendations. I think the first thing to do is probably get a Presto Pass to take full advantage of transit available in the city, especially the two-hour transfer period anytime you start a trip on the TTC -- very handy. Don't be afraid of diving into the city's diverse cuisine offerings.

In Montreal, I've been recommending their PasseportMTL to people if you're staying over for a whole weekend. It covers transit for an unlimited amount for the duration of the card's activation (48 or 72 hours) and 28 attractions. Eat lots of poutine and smoked meat sandwiches.

In Ottawa, the major spots are close to each other. Outside of taking an Uber to go to my first destination and to head back to my place (I did walk back once), I didn't take transit.

I might be missing something here, but how strict is the cancellation? I'd cancel and re-book with the right amount of time instead (let the host know in advanced), if it isn't strict as hell.

Hey guys, looking for a regular ps4, either 500 or 1tb, depending on the prices. Can we expect aroung black friday being the best time for that or is there any chance a decent deal comes around before that?

Thanks for that.

If you are okay with refurbished and want it soon MTC has 500gb models for $250.
They are Sony's official refurb center in these parts.
