it's a quick and dirty 3DS port. the fact that it costs significantly more is a testament to how far Capcom will go to exploit switch owners (as if they hadn't fucked with them enough).
I don't believe the value of a game is proportional to the amount of work you imagine the developers did inside your head.

Instead, if I put hundreds of hours into playing it, it looks like a bargain in terms of dollars-per-entertainment.

Am I cheesing myself out of the "full/real" experience if I pick the Cat class as my weapon?

Trying stuff out in the demo right now, not sure what I want to go with. Light bowgun seems really different from what I mained in World, so I am looking at my other options. New to MH, so trying to ease myself into it a bit. Demo has been great fun though! Just owned the second dude with the great sword and enjoyed it more than I expected to

Play whatever you find enjoyable, cats are cool

Note that Monster Hunter X 3DS, Monster Hunter XX 3DS and Monster Hunter XX Switch were all the same price in Japan. Considering when we got Monster Hunter X in the U.S., it cost $40, the $60 definitely feels like Capcom is more trying to cash in than trying to make the game a success.

But the 3DS version of XX started at ~5800 yen, which is close to the price of a Switch game to begin with.

In any event, from a player's perspective, it's still a title with a ton of content that costs about the same as other retail Switch titles.

Odd as I live in Taiwan and we get Japan everything.

I got MHXX, MH keychain, OST, artbook, and some other stuff for 40$. For the switch.

Man I bought XX for me and my friends at launch last year. Should've waited for this but after beating World and playing the GU demo I'm ready to get back to XX since I'm already too deep to restart for GU.

I mentioned this before when it was first announced but I hope they'l make it so we group up and hunt with Japanese players. Unlike previous versions where online is region restricted.

Going simple and referential...

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate |OT| Brave Old World

Barring that, I do like "Capcom's Double-Cross" as well.

Outside of really specific endgame builds I don't think Prowlers do enough damage to be fun as an exclusive solo experience. And I've heard even minmaxed boomerang cats fall off in g-rank, but I've never played it so I don't know for sure.

I like playing them in multiplayer when I want to support lower-HR players without having to intentionally sandbag or play naked. I think all the Prowler I played in MHGen is the reason I still have a stupid cat avatar in Discord...

That remains one of the most tone deaf and inept handlings of a situation like that in recent memory. It was one of the easiest layups to hit, and they somehow missed and went careening down a very jagged mountain.

into a giant pile of money.

I would've loved to have this game to tide me over from last summer to MHWorld, and if that had happened I probably would've double dipped on MHW PC. But in a way MHW made me miss 'old MH' in a lot of ways, including some I didn't expect like the online structure. So this is nice too.

Valstrax body takes up the entire screen as melee... kinda annoying you can't see much and then he does pound attack under him.

Is there a setting like in MHW to adjust the FOV somehow in the final game? What is the best camera setting? Thanks

On the Switch eShop I remember some Japanese and Western games were basically the same and if you bought it on the Japanese eShop the game would change to English if you had your switch language set to English.

Is it going to be the same with this, or will the Switch see it as a different game to XX? I own XX physical and bought GU without thinking about it, my XX isn't going to suddenly have English or something weird is it?

Still debating on whether i want to start a fresh file, or transfer my save from Generations 3DS. I really don't want to grind dreadwing rathalos again.

Getting my 3DS all charged up and ready to go for the save xfer...forgot how much personality the 3DS has. Themes are so cool. Really hope Switch gets something like this at some point.

I've mostly been an Adept Charge Blade user, but Valor Charge Blade is pretty interesting to try. I like dodging, but Valor might be more suited for me with some practice, especially since it charges the shield for me during Valor state.

I was thinking about the same (and the same downside ^^) but I reminded all the gathering quests, my fantastic cats, and finally decided to learn to play with a new weapon, it will be fresh enough.

I would of prefer this be one of those game that you mentioned, but I think this is more like Splatoon and Xenoblade where the Japanese and English version are separate. I'm at G4 in XX so I won't be starting again with GU.

One thing that's left from making the switch a complete powerhouse. I really miss the charm and personality of the wii and wii u. The only thing left to make the switch complete.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate |OT| The World Ends With You

I think it would be more symbolic and get the ultimate title across by doing "The World ends With U" imo
