After playing a ton of Dead Cells it is going to be hard to go back to this. Not that Hollow Knight is bad (it's my GOTY so far) but the controls feel so different. Might train a bit in in the colosseum before I jump in the dlc.

How far in is the Colosseum? I keep seeing things about it in the game, but havent found it yet, and I feel like I have unlocked a crap ton of the map.

Generally speaking, especially on the avg. first walkthrough, fairly late.

If you have discovered
Kingdom's Edge
you should relatively quickly get an idea where it's roughly located.

How to unlock DLC area:
The area is in Royal Waterways, but needs a simple key. Simple key is hidden in the Colosseum of Fools

Is there only one DLC area, or is content sprinkled throughout?
Sprinkled throughout.

Some DLC comes in extra charms and stuff that you can use throughout the game, but the Grimm Troupe content doesn't unlock until you do something specific in a hidden area, in a totally optional part of the map. I wouldn't have found it if someone didn't point me in the right direction.

I dont know where this optional area is, but I found it and did a thing, and I unlocked Grimm Troupe

Sorry, I meant today's new content.

Alright, that area was stupidly hard to find. Needed directions from reddit after all...

edit: First you probably need the simple key found next to the Colosseum of Fools (go up the path before Colosseum hot springs and then destroy wall to the right).

Destroy something to the top left where the Explody Bat is located.

I probably won't have time to play the expansion til this weekend but I'm really looking forward to it. I ran into the Grimm stuff pretty organically in my playthrough but it's definitely quite well hidden, hopefully the new stuff here doesn't take too much aimless wandering to start.

Is it correct that the plan after this is a separate, paid expansion focused on Hornet? I would be extremely into that, although I can't remember where I thought I heard it, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't any official source.

Yeh, that's boss rush, alright.

First "gate" was extremely easy except for the last boss, which was still relatively ez. That's without any of those binding handicaps, though. Now I'll watch some Dota 2 TI, though.

What charm loadouts at you all rolling with? Mine's:

Sprintmaster
Unbreakable Strength
Quick Slash
Mark of Pride
Either Grubsong or Nailmaster's Glory

Am going with Unbreakable Heart and Quickheal instead of more dmg focus because I want to be able to react to pattern some more and heal up instead of hoping to rely on raw dmg (though that would've worked out significantly better for the first, easy gate).

For me, raw damage got me through everything else in the game, where I otherwise got rocked when trying out different builds.

I think my reaction times are fast enough to accommodate for this, though, but I can't keep it up forever, so I have to end things quickly.

I'm bad but wanna git gut. So I try to improve my pattern recognition and all, for which it's better to have more survivability.

Have to admit, like with the Trial of the Fool, I don't particularly like having a new boss at the end of the whole thing. It kind of forces me to replay the whole thing at least once. I'll try being a bit more conservative to start with, that might help.

If it helps, as soon as you encounter a new boss you can challenge them in the Hall of Gods. You don't have to beat them, that way you can practice before the boss rush.

Wait what? Where is the hall of gods? Or is that part of the new expansion? I really want to get to the end of this game, all of the bosses are so bad ass looking

i'm disappointed there's not new icon. but i guess this is the one they want to stick with, since it's on the cover of the physical version as well.
i'm still not done with the grim troupe quest, i've got nkg to beat and i have to pay the lady to shit out two of my charms. hopefully the new stuff gives some decent geo.

are you sure? the game is installed on my system memory, the last bug fix update was 400 mb on my microsd card, with this update the game is taking up 1.7 GB on the card.

Oh, that's good. Because I just got rekt by the 3rd gate's boss and it took me a couple of tries to even get there (new jelly fight is...even worse than regular one, lol). I even changed to Unbreakable Strength and Pride charm which make some of the bosses ez and fast to kill as fuck.

Damn, I don't think I'll ever get close to 100% this new DLC, and I did a 107% run.

Godmaster is basically masochist content. Might just wait for the Hornet DLC.

You've got one up on me. I didn't achieve 107%. I stopped at 80% when the challenge(s) just stopped being fun for me.

I thought Nightmare Grimm was tough, but some of the requirements here are insane.

The hardest difficulty is doing these different boss rushes with only 4 health, zero charms, zero upgrades, and giving you access to only 25% of your soul pool.

You also have the Hall of Gods where the last difficulty check is beating the boss without getting hit.

Yeah, no thanks... lol

Just got beat by the Pantheon (?) gate boss
Pure Vessel
. Looks great, tomorrow I'll take my time beating him.

That's unfortunate that the charms got cut :(

Well, I'm not ever really going to complain about the quantity of content, though.

edit:

Nightmare verison shouldn't be much harder for me with how many times I played him. Though the bullethell sections might be a bit more annoying, so I can't really recall if those are actually harder there.

I don't think it is. I think it just feels faster because there's more pressure due to double damage.
