For me it's a day one purchase for sure. I'm only deciding where to buy to avoid adittional waiting, since the release date is a holyday in Brazil.

It needs to hurry the fuck up. I've been dying for something to play for months now. Been so dry since Detroit. Honestly can't wait.

NG+ and photo mode must be priority for next gen games.

Couldn't be any less hyped.

Not because of the game itself, but because it's coming out as perhaps the most inopportune time for me and, as such, I won't be playing it until Christmas at the earliest. I won't have enough time to truly delve deep into it, I can't really afford it Day One and I'd much rather play on a large 4K/HDR setup I'll hopefully eventually have than the small 1080p/SDR TV I'd be playing it on in September.

I've avoided pre-ordering/budgeting for many of the big AAA 'heavy hitters' this year (Battlefield V, Fallout 76, Tomb Raider, etc) for the same reasons so, again, it's not the game's fault or anything. The only games I'm getting Day One this Autumn/Winter are Life is Strange 2, RDR2, Hitman 2 and Smash, I likely won't be getting any more beyond that. I like to hold my hype for games I know I'll be playing Day One, so I'm kind of not bothering with Spiderman or many other big releases this year.

This is like saying "classic military games are sth i cant simply stand". Like... a military game could be a million different types of thing. From CoD to Spec Ops The Line to Splinter Cell to XCOM.

Similarly a 'superhero game' could be a million different things. From a racer, to a brawler, to a platformer - or any of the above. The "skin" is superhero but you forget about that very quickly when you realise how good the gameplay is.

To boot, a lot of the best superhero stuff isn't "classic superheroes" like what you think. I haven't read any of the Marvel/DC ongoing, long-form comic books since the early '00s (like the ones with issue-counts into the many hundreds or thousands) because I find them borderline repulsive, and many superhero films/games are awful.

But there are good ones that stand as great stories/games on their own merits. Totally besides the 'superhero' thing. These rare ones are up there with all the alternative "superhero" stories, e.g. Sandman, Starman, Astro City, Incredibles, etc.

FWIW the combat system is only Batman-like on the surface. The Batman one put a crazy onus on combos and crowd management - this one looks way more sandboxey and freeform. I don't think your combo meter matters much/at all and it's much looser, about improvising in a combat sandbox.

Too true about recent Spider-Man games tho - although all the recent hands-on previews are absolutely glowing about this one.

I got it, only that in the context of this thread, I typically dont feel any hype for classic american like superheroes games.

Extremely hyped! The sinister 6 angle is awesome for a game and Insomniac are talented developers. Spidey also happens to be one of my favourite super heroes.

I'll likely be getting it as soon as I can but school starts the very week it releases.

The only reason I don't have it pre-ordered is because I'm hoping to get a PS4 Pro console bundle. And there's a shopping center with a Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Gamestop about 3 miles from my office - I'm sure one of them won't be sold out of the game on 9/7 if I have to stick with my launch PS4 for the time being.

I love Insomniac and how cool, fun and polished their games are. But Spider-Man has never done much for me. Most american-type heroes don't. Marvel and DC don't get my juices flowing. So it might just be that this game isn't for me, despite clearly having the magic Insomniac puts into their craft, as seen in all the polish and little details. A shame really. Had it been something horror or fantasy related, or even a "hero" built from the ground up my them and I'd probably be all over it.

Have you experienced many Spiderman stories before? He's usually taken better than most because he's a relatable, funny everyman. The most 'human' superhuman. (The 90s movies didn't really capture this.)

Fairly hyped. Definitely day one, even though I'm not expecting it to crack my top three for the year so far and likely not the top five when the year is done. There's just too little leeway and too many awkward expectations built into a licensed property no matter how talented the team is.

I am, however, open to being pleasantly surprised. If they can tell a human story along with the obligatory action it could be really special.

Will probably rent from work if I can get it day one. I don't really like these free roaming types of games but I imagine if the reviews are really good, it'll sucker me in. God of War was the same way where I expected not to like it and the overwhelming reviews turned my the other way.

Regardless if I play for free I feel like I can't be too mad.

Not very hyped. Open world games can rarely keep my interest with their gameplay, and the story looks bad. Definitely will be worth a try for $20 though.

Low. I need to wait and see how much the game borrows from the MCU. I am not a fan of the aesthetic or tone of the MCU at all, I am more of a 90s Marvel/Spidey fan. The Animated Series, the PS1 games.

I'm not interested in an MCU-like Spider-Man game.

Story looks ehhhh and the open world mechanics they've shown in the most recent gameplay videos look super standard been there done that for the open world games. I didn't see anything so fresh or ambitious in there, but it still looks fun with the traversal mechanics.

I have to be honest, I was like super hyped for this maybe a year ago, but the slow drip of preview footage has made me steadily less interested. I hope this game surprises me as I'm gonna buy it anyway.

Through the roof.

Got the Special Edition on pre-order and have followed the "Is Spider-Man PS4 out?" Twitter account for daily updates.

Game's a guaranteed blast.

Though I don't like Spiderman as much as Batman one thing that excites me way over Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight is that the city hopefully won't be shit after the main stuff and side quests.
After I got the platinum from Knight I get no enjoyment out of exploring Gotham.

Citizens will already make a difference but even just dumb random crimes like a purse being stolen or something infinitely would be perfect.

It's more a general desinterest of mine on heroes in a modern world setting. Not big on comics either.

I might still get the game later on when it's cheaper, as Insomniac are top tier in what they do and the combat gameplay seems interesting in an updated Arkham Asylum kind of way. That was another game with a hero I care about only a bit more than Spider-Man, as it's a dark, noir, almost scary setting, but the gameplay was just amazingly satisfying.

Can't say the same about Arkham City with its mind numbingly boring open world gameplay cycle. And then didn't even get Origins or Arkham Knight.

Waiting on reviews. If it's good I will get it cheap next summer.

Dragon Quest will take too much of my time, then Spyro, then Tomb Raider, Asassins Creed Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2.

The only hype I have for this game is that once it's out I hope the next game is Ratchet.

My hype is pretty low, mostly due to my limited playtime (I'm still chipping away at Vampyr and Kingdom Come Deliverance and Spyro and RDR2 are on the way). Confirmation of Doc Ock as the big bad would go a long way to getting my hype up as I'm not a big fan of the villains revealed thus far.

My brother has been begging me to preorder (he has the XBox, I have the PS4, and Spidey is his favorite superhero). We went half and half on the Digital Deluxe Edition

It's funny; I wasn't particularly hyped for it for like a year but now, with the new footage and previews and comments from Insomniac about how the story has a lot of big and small secrets they're keeping close to the vest, I've gotten really excited for it. Up there with RDR2 as my most anticipated games of the fall. It looks like the best superhero game since Arkham Knight, and finally a video game worthy of Spider-Man. It really looks like Insomniac understand why makes Spider-Man and his villains interesting

I haven't this excited for a game since Ocarina of Time and yet...

I am in complete darkness about it. Watched that E3 trailer two years ago and that's it!

1) So, I have one question I need to know to prep ahead of time: will i need a ps plus subscription for this game for any of its features? A simple yes or no would be appreciated :)

2) does the new pre-quel book spoil anything major in the game?

I'm more excited for Spidey than anything, but I'm still a little grounded in my hype. I'm looking at how cheap God of War is during this digital sale and thinking maybe I should wait a little. I mean, I'm ok with waiting a little.

But I know what will happen. There's going to be a photograph thread, and that's going to send me straight to the store, money in hand.

Well...
The Rhino voice actor accidentally let it slip that you fight Doc Ock
https://youtu.be/CntEYnDuDLQ
The fight scene was particulary hard because (…) everyone is scaled differently. Doctor Octopus is really tall, Rhino is big…

If I buy the physical version of the game, can I buy the extra digital deluxe content on PSN the same day (for $20)?

And will the pre-order bonuses be printed on the receipt at brick and mortar stores, or is there just a code inside all first presses of the game?

Any new footage from the past week? I know everyone had the same "demo" a couple weeks ago but hoping for something new or that was rarely seen

Never been a big super hero guy, but Spider-Man's always been my favorite, and this game looks like it'll scratch my "inFamous 4" itch.

I have no doubt that it'll be good at the very least but for me it's more about free time than money. Dragon Quest 11 will get priority for me and by the time I'm done with it the Xenoblade 2 expansion will be out. And while I don't expect Shadow of the Tomb Raider to be as good as Spidey, I'm already fairly invested in the entire series so I'm very curious about it. If I hear good things about Spider-Man from reviewers I trust, I'll get to it in december or early 2019.

I'm super hyped.

I love open world games with good traversal mechanics and this definitely seems to have that. I just wanna swing and fly around a beautiful city.
