Look, if I'm here sitting around in my Koopa Troppa PJ's. tucking into my Super Mario cereal is it too much to ask for some real hardcore big boy games? I mean come on. Sick of all these Hollow Knight, Celeste GOTY calls from the indie babyz. Might be ok for all you kids but us big boys need big games

No joke, now I really want some damn Koopa Troopa PJs. My wife can get Paratroopa PJs so we match.

Maybe that's because E3 was very underwhelming for most people? It literally was a Smash direct and if you are not into Smash... They are not spoiled.

Sales do not reflect this assertion. Maybe it was underwhelming for most enthusiasts (like us), sure, but the mass market loved it and Smash is already heavily driving hardware sales.

Because it's been a long ass time since the last one released?
Miyamoto and Tezuka both hinted since Super Mario Maker at a new artstyle for next 2D Mario, by saying that Nintendo EPD art team was working on new styles for Mario.
If I had to guess, this next 2D Mario is still in the work, and it won't be a "New Super Mario Bros", so let's just port New Super Mario Bros U : easy money, will sell like crazy, minimal ressources because it's a port, and Switch will have a New Super Mario Bros for those who like that style.

Nintendo fans expecting a BIG Direct only 2 months after E3 serves to show how spoiled some of you really are with the Direct format.

And Indies are greats. They've been some of the best games of this year.

I would say that more points to the fact that the E3 direct was a disappointment for many.

I think this Indie Direct will match the EU presentation in terms of software quality. We need a date for Firewatch and some other summer indie releases still.

And for those begging for "big boy" games, did you ignore everything that was announced this week for Switch at Gamescom? Does it matter if the announcements come from a Direct, a press release or at an event?

Oh my god you keep saying the same stuff since the Smash Direct announcement, jeez. Is it just too hard to wait until september or october for another general direct ?
NO! I'm a big boy and I demand my videogames now!

On topic, pretty curious to see what games they have on this direct. The indie highlight was great so I'm pretty stoked for this one; one personal wish is to have some of Team Ladybug's games on Switch, Pharaoh Rebirth would be awesome.

Am I missing something? What big games were announced for Switch during Gamescom?

Once upon a time I had zero trouble keeping up with all the new releases I wanted to play on my Switch. That hasn't been the case in several months now, and at this rate it sounds like I'll never be in that position ever again.

So much this. I have 60 ish games on my Switch now and just as many on my wishlist. I'm never going to catch up.

Wouldn't this just be the indies they already showed in the indies highlight?
No. The last indies presentation focused exclusively on EU-based indie. This will highlight other indie developers and releases. There may be some overlap, but there will be new stuff.

Grandia 1/2HD Remaster, for example. This month alone has seen Diablo 3 and Doom Eternal announced for Switch.

Maybe Guacamalee! is finally coming to Switch (and of course eventually Guacamelee! 2). I know DrinkBox Studios has shown interest in putting games out for the Switch.

sorry, but era is a small amount compared to elsewhere

Okay, but we're on Era.

And the discussion the person you were quoted in was talking about Era and Era Nintendo fans:
Nintendo fans expecting a BIG Direct only 2 months after E3 serves to show how spoiled some of you really are with the Direct format.

And Indies are greats. They've been some of the best games of this year.

Maybe that's because E3 was very underwhelming for most people? It literally was a Smash direct and if you are not into Smash... They are not spoiled.

If your discussion for opinions on Era always involve "sorry Era no one cares about you guys move on" than I'm not sure why your here tbh.

A lot of people thought the E3 Direct was underwhelming, at least on Era. Even with that if you were happy with it good for you. There's no need to be a dick tho.

Last year, the regular Direct (where DOOM and stuff was announced) was 2 weeks after the indie summer showcase. Perhaps they will follow the same pattern this year. At any rate, I think it's safe to assume there will be a regular Direct later on.

More indie games? Cool I guess

That's kind of how I feel.

That and "oh, more games that are probably already announced and/or coming to another platform sooner, if not already release? Cool, I guess."

Travis Strikes Again and Wargroove are what I care about. I want release dates.

Any other game mind as well be slated for late 2019 because my schedule is packed already.

the flood hasn't even started yet, just wait and see what happens next year when we start to reach the point where it's been a proper dev cycle's worth of time since launch.

I also thought E3 was super underwhelming, but I can wait a little longer for the next Direct.
