Jesus I'm really wondering if this is tied to Bourdains suicide.
She likely used his money to help pay the huge amount of hush money required to keep this story under wraps.Woah hold on I know about the accusations on her and the guy but wtf has it to do with Bourdain? Can someone fill me in

"I did not initially speak out about my story because I chose to handle it in private with the person who wronged me," said Bennett, who claims the alleged incident took place at a southern California hotel in 2013, when Bennett was 17, underage in the state, and Argento was 37. "My trauma resurfaced as she came out as a victim herself. I have not made a public statement in the past days and hours because I was ashamed and afraid to be part of the public narrative."
Jimmy Bennet speaks out after her denial.

I love this post.In most suicide cases regarding depression or the will to live, everything contributes to the decision, big or tiny, positive or negative.
Your phone drops from a high place and cracks the display? For you it may be a minor nuisance, or a big nuisance if you don't have ready money to replace it. For a depressed person or someone thinking of Suicide, it is another drop in the full bucket of water.
Even things that have no impact for you normally, like calling the landlord to fix something in the house can have a negative impact on the sense of well-being.
On the other hand, little gestures or helping hands can sometimes have a big positive impact. Dropping you coins on the floor and someone helping you pick them up? You may be thankful or even indifferent. For people who are depressed or thinking about suicide, it could make their day or week.
Already banned but what a weird thing to say.
Captain Darren Harris from the Los Angeles County sheriff's department said investigators will seek to talk to Jimmy Bennett or his representatives about the alleged incident at a Southern California hotel in 2013, when Bennett was 17.
Jesus I'm really wondering if this is tied to Bourdains suicide.
The TMZ timeline makes a damning case with the photos of her with a 28 year old guy coming out, her rushing to get them taken down, and Bourdain killing himself a day or two later. No one is responsible for his suicide other than him, but you can find a lot of quotes out there from his friends about how obsessed he was with her and how passionate he became about #metoo because of that. This might be tied to it the same way the other photos were, or maybe it was something else completely. We'll never really know for sure.

Why would that ever be the case... It was never about just one person.
It's going to generate complications for sure. The risk to the movement is from the reaction of the top brass on the matter. There was the tweet pleading for understanding and to be gentle on Argento, a tweet that has since be removed and total blackout since. If a movement is to be credible it needs to apply consisten rules to everyone, including one of their own. Thus far it has failed.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/n...ghter-asia-sexual-assault-allegations-1136625Asia Argento's father, famed horror writer and director Dario Argento, has defended his daughter amid allegations she sexually assaulted a young actor.
In an interview published Wednesday in Italian newspaper La Stampa, Argento claimed "there is an air of conspiracy" around the allegations that Asia Agento sexually assaulted former child actor Jimmy Bennett in 2013, when Bennett was 17 and Argento was 37.
In the interview, Argento senior said "my daughter will fight" the allegations, adding that "everything that is happening puts me in a negative state of mind, it is a sequence of unpleasant events." He speculated that there could be a connection between the recent revelations surrounding his daughter and Bennett and disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein. Asia Agento was one of the first women to come forward publicly to claim Weinstein had sexually assaulted them. She has remained one of Weinstein's most outspoken accusers.
"I'm only making assumptions, but certainly, since Asia decided to make her accusation [against Harvey Weinstein] there have been violent reactions, even in Italy, by politicians," Dario Agento told La Stampa. "Many have attacked her." He singled out two particularly vicious critics: Italian politicians Vittorio Sgarbi and Matteo Salvini.
Argento said he had the impression "there was something shady, false or at least very strange," in the Bennett story, as reported, but did not provide any new facts to back up his impressions. "We have to see if the accusations are true. I do not think so," he added. Argento speculated that the Bennett allegations against his daughter could be the result of an "organized attempt at putting her in a bad light ... that Weinstein told his lawyers to dig up dirt on her."
Unless his lawyer confirms or denies what Argento is claiming to have happened, we'll probably never know the truth of his role in this.Scapegoating Tony right now is the most disgusting thing holy shit
Jimmy is only 22, statute of limitations should not apply (but I am not 100%)
Why would she come out with such a public denial when she knew that photo existed? Dumb as hell. The whole thing is fucking creepy.
This is incorrect.Statute of limitations is often much more applicable in civil cases, not criminal.
This is correct. Though it's not so cut and dry in California.Additionally, many places have legislation in place that bars any SoL for sexual crimes.
You phrased your comment as a general comparison between civil and criminal matters, not as a comparison between civil matters and "top end" criminal matters. There are many crimes for which there is no statute of limitations, you are correct. But the vast, vast majority of criminal offenses all are subject to statutes of limitations, for the protection of the accused. It's only where public policy overrides an accused's due process rights, as is the case in homicide and some sex-based crimes, where the statute of limitations are tossed in the interest of justice for the victims. Thus, with the limited exception of "top end" criminal matters, statute of limitations impact criminal cases as often as they do civil matters.I was only trying to draw a comparison between civil matters and the top end criminal matters.

The texts are extremely damning. Her response seems ripped out of the Weinstein playbook.
1) Hire a PI to look into the victim
2) Pay off the victim and silence them. Only reason she didn't get an nDA is because it would've been illegal in this case in California.
3) When the abuse comes out, deny it, and attack the character of your victim.
4) Confirm in private that the abuse occurred.
What a horrible person. She's supposed to be a judge on the Italian version of X factor starting next month. Hopefully they do the right thing and fire her.
