Can't verify my license to play Persona 5, this is lame. Apparently my PS4 wasn't set as my primary system, I don't even remember when I would have changed that.

There was a 50% renown boost active for R6 and I had activated a 24 hour booster yesterday. I still had a couple of hours left that I won't be able to use. This sucks. :/

Looks like its back up, in the US at least.

It seems to be still down here in Finland, according to their website.

PSN is down a lot. I don't remember the 360 ever having problems to this extent.

It certainly isn't down a lot in Finland, since I play online every weekday evening, and sometimes a little on weekends as well. I've played Let It Die, which requires an online connection, for over 18 months on a regular basis, and I don't recall a single day I wouldn't have been able to play it.

EDIT: Actually, I just remembered that the game itself was down for a day due to an emergency maintenance, as there was some kind of an issue after one of the summer updates. It was handsomely compensated afterwards though.

Psn isn't down often here either (Germany), I think it was only actually down once since the 3 years I have my PS4, but it certainly is a shitty and spotty service, I never had so much lag in online games, plus download speeds seem to get only worse too.

Yesterday I downloaded a SFV patch, it would tell me "16 hours" did a "connection test" which brought it down to "15 minutes", but for me the *unexplainable* lag during online games is definitely worse.

Back on PS3 it never was this bad, oh well what can you do...

I sometimes think I should try wireless, it really feels like huge disadvantage using wired connection with all the lag going on, might as well play like everyone else on wifi lol.

I've never noticed any lag, when I've played Destiny and Let It Die. The download speed issues are also something I've never experienced since I moved to a wired connection on the PS3. The speeds have greatly increased since then, as downloading a 7GB file of Remember Me took 45 minutes on a 40Mbps connection I had at the time. Whereas on the PS4, the 43GB file of GT Sport beta took me only an hour on a 100Mbps connection. I imagine it'll be even better now, that I've doubled the speed.

EDIT: It seems like PSN is working again here as well: https://status.playstation.com/fi-fi/

It'd be interesting to compare the stability of Live vs PSN, how many times each has been down this year and the ones before. I remember PSN was down a number of times in the month after Christmas, while Xbox stayed pretty stable. In the last month, I recall PSN being down twice (today and at the beginning of this thread) while Xbox was down last week for a few hours. Anyone knows of any track record? It'd also be interesting to see their evolution, if they become more or less reliable, or just stay the same.

That has to be a regional thing, since it wasn't down where I live back then. I play online at least five days a week, so I would have noticed that.

There's down detector website, but it's by no means a perfect way of tracking it, like less than 20 reports can make it say it was down.

Here's PSN

I really don't understand this. I've been playing Destiny 1 and 2 since release almost every day with the same 6-8 people, and I can honestly count the number of outages that have affected any of us on one hand. We all live in North America.

I'm sure there were a lot more outages, but it's certainly not 'a lot' IMO, and it certainly hasn't affected us that bad at all.

Also, when your install base is more than 2x the competition, you're bound to get more complaints.

Is save editing a widespread issue? And seriously, file encryption exists. Good ones even, not crackable in a lifetime.
It's locked behind a paywall at the moment, so not really, but it was pretty widespread last gen, at least on 360.
People have found ways to bypass the PS4's save encryption too, but last I checked, was still relatively early days and limited to modded consoles.

According to this they are down almost every other day lol
I'll take a closer look, it might be useful, thanks! ^^
Yeah, it's not great, the XBL one seems to at least be relatively decent, every 1 I checked had 500+ reports (still a tiny amount) around the same time, but some on the PSN side are barely 50 reports spread over hours.

Can confirm this, I remember the threads everywhere "psn down!" It was always online for me, mostly a ghost town but I always was still able to find enough players - ironically it usually ran better than normally too, probably simply because there was less server load.

Huh, there are working save editors out there for PS4, or is that what you mean by paywall? I don't know how widespread this is obviously but you don't need a hacked PS4 for this.

Yeah, it's called Save Wizard. You don't need a hacked PS4 for it either, but new updates usually break it until the creator make a new version that supports the new firmware. It's locked behind a paywall too.

It doesn't let you mod multiplayer save data either and the few games that share a savefile between PvE and PvP, Dark Souls is an example, have systems in place that you're way too high a level to matchmake.

Which only means that the encryption used is badly implemented.

Not necessarily, if it was badly implemented it wouldn't have taken so long to be bypassed in a very limited way (assuming there hasn't been a big break through since I last kept up with this stuff, which is possible, been like a year) and actually be a widespread thing.
