Star Citizen comes to mind immediately since it seems to be a giant money-pit with no end in sight.

what else?

Left Alive.

They released a half dozen screen shots this week, but no video since the announcement at last year's E3. Also it's still set to release this year, which is a bad sign when there's barely anything to show.

If it does end up releasing, it'll be quiet with zero fanfare or marketing I think.

I can't help but think Wild is already there.

Also Atlus' Project Re: Fantasy. I'm always skeptical of games that are announced before real development begins.

Star Citizen is obviously vaporware.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is probably vaporware.

And I honestly think Dreams might be vaporware too. For all the content they've shown it never seems any closer to releasing.

Can you technically call Star Citizen that, since you are able to spend lots of money on it already?

Speaking of Atlus, whatever happened to 13 Sentinels. Was announced like 3 years ago and theres been nothing at all in the last year and its supposed to be out this year?

Dreams will release. It's pretty much done. I do wonder if they're thinking of making it a ps5 exclusive though for strategy reasons. It's a system seller for a certain demographic.

Are you asking if Star Citizen is "still being written or designed"?
Good luck if you are trying to redefine not being vapourware as "being able to crowdfund"
Edited: said opposite of what I meant

Golem, the PSVR exclusive from Marty O'Donnell's new studio. The silence surrounding that game has become deafening.

I haven't seen Wattam in a while, and I feel like that was announced at least 3 years ago. I could be wrong, but it's a game I've been curious about for a while and I hope to see it out sooner rather than later. I doubt it's "vaporware", but the fact that that game still is not out at this point has me scratching my head a bit.

It was supposed to be out this year for like 3 years now. We'll probably see the same footage again at TGS, as is tradition.

They scrapped the first person section, huge parts of the game's foundation aren't finished and may never be. Just because they have the audacity to sell ships worth hundreds of dollars doesn't make it more than it currently is.

Wait, the first person portion has been scrapped? That's a shame. Is there anywhere I can go for actual Star Citizen news? I'm not backer but I am still interested in the game.

There are some threads on it, but if you want actual news, talk to the Discord. All you're gonna get on the main page is superficial trolling.

I may be wrong about that, so don't take my word for it. Star Marine, a FPS thing, was released in 2015, but all news and posts about it are from 2/3 years ago so idk if it's still in active development.

I would check the subreddit or find out through there. It's kinda muddled finding how what's happening.

The first line of it being available for purchase because you clearly can buy whatever fuck they want to call their Alpha. The whole concept of "Early Access" has clearly changed the idea of what vaporware can be.

I suppose it's changed it a little, selling demos for cash instead of giving demos of progress (or lack of) to genuine investors. But if a game never reaches a retail state, I don't know how it is exempt from being vapourware.
