So the crime here is that Cohen's payment in the amount of 130,000, at the direction of the President, is viewed as a campaign "donation" and this amount exceeds the donation limit of $2,700 in a general election?

I'm only asking this question because I don't know and would like to know more about it, but why would this be deemed a crime and not a violation of campaign finance laws? Because at first glance yea that money was used to kill two stories that would have been potentially highly damaging to Trump during the GE election but it doesn't seem like a high crime and misdemeanor.

So is exactly when is Pence going to be your next president?
God willing, he'll be implicated too.

The line of succession is pretty bad for the top 6. I'm not sure what happens if everyone is guilty of being involved.

Still, as awful as Pence would be I take solace in the following:

- nobody really likes or cares about Pence. He'd be a giant lame duck.
- his association with Trump if Trump was removed would no doubt be a hinderance to any agenda
- the GOP would be in dissaray from the Trump World fallout and many who supported Trump would happily turn on him after the winds changed direction. So again, stalled agenda.

I live in Indiana which is Pence's home state and people don't even like him here.

Don't confuse pragmatism with centrism.

It isn't pragmatic to downplay the very reason behind the kneeling protesters. It has never had a single thing to do with the Flag, or the Anthem, or whatever nationalist idea that comes into fruition next in order to move away from the narrative that black people are slaughtered on a near-daily basis by our law enforcement.

In the first video she clearly says current form of capitalism not good enough. In the second she says while she loves the flag and anthem, she's a strong supporter of the 1st. Saying capitalism and current income inequality is not good enough and siding with the players on the anthem issue is neither supporting the status quo or taking both sides.

If the current form of Capitalism isn't good enough, calling yourself a "Capitalist" is going against that very idea. "I'm a capitalist, but capitalism isn't working" doesn't roll off the tongue as well, I suppose.

She never sided with the players. She ignored their message entirely.

The bigger criminal aspect to that would be that Trump directed Cohen to do it right before the election in order to influence the results. Either the McDougal or Daniels stories going public at that point could have tipped the election back in Hillary's favor.

But the more serious implication here is what else Cohen knows about. His lawyer is saying that Cohen knows details about the Trump Tower/Russia meeting that could be of importance to the special counsel. The information you give to the feds doesn't necessarily have to relate to the charges against you: you can get your sentencing reduced if you can provide useful information in other investigations as well.

A great use of time as always.

I find the reporters infuriating. The questions they ask are so stupid and whenever someone asks a good question Sanders will try to ignore it and get a question from someone else, which is usually dumb and not what I want to hear the answer to.

Why don't they work together? When Sanders tries to move away from a question why doesn't the next reporter just say "I have the same question" and force her to answer?

Because if they do that they'll lose their White House press credentials.

There's something kinda funny about seeing a big banner across the screen that says "The President did nothing wrong", or it would be funny if we weren't in such a mess.

Adequate mens rea -- in this case, knowingly/willingly -- in commission of campaign finance violations renders the violation criminal.

Regardless of what strategy the Democrats choose, they need to make sure all of the cohort is on board. No defections, no lukewarm support, full on unity through the party.

Agreed. If the Dems push for impeachment, it should after the midterms, and certainly after the Mueller investigation concludes.

Right, exactly. The goal should be to win the midterms, end Trump's legislation agenda, and drown his administration in investigations. If the Mueller probe pans out favorably for Democrats, it'll only benefit them as 2020 comes into view.

Yup, let's get some chips before we go to the table. Dems need every advantage they can get, because if there is anything republicans are masters at, its Obstruction, misdirection, and abuse of power. They will pull out all the stops to keep trump going. Their careers all hinge on it.

I don't know why they keep running stories on hardcore Trumpers. They will never falter! Thankfully that cult isn't enough to get someone elected.

They don't give a shit about what happens so long as people tune in. If it's because they're angry at the viewpoint, or because they agree, they're playing both sides because of ratings. Their agenda doesn't revolve around truth or reality or justice, just money.

Just to clarify. You're accusing the AP of not caring about the truth, reality or justice; just money?
