I've never liked race modes in non racing games. This could be decent though, love Ori.

Ori is a metroidvania that has a heavy emphasis on platforming, and one of the reasons I love it so much. Its honestly better than most platformers in my opinion as well. i once said it was a better platformer than New Super Mario Bros U, and I still feel that way. Ori has great platforming, and during the boss phases or whatever you call them, it really shows

Added bonus, its also a great Metroidvania. This and Hollow Knight are prime examples of this genre and how good they can be.

This is a fantastic addition. The first Ori already had sections that were essentially races. Adding asynchronous racing with friends is genius.

God damn the traversal and platforming in Ori is so good.

Time trial mode is a nice addition and it fits well for a game with some really cool movement. Cant wait to see more of it and also more areas to explore/race in!

This sounds really cool, I'm not big on speed running entire games but always loved trying to go for speed in fluid segments. Kind of like how 2D Mario levels are mostly designed for speed running and constantly going full throttle.

It too bad we didn't get a release date along with this announcement. I'm thinking probably October or November 2019, if I had to guess.

The constant dashing gives movement a very jittery feel that I'm not a fan of, but doubling down on the best parts of the first game is a good idea.

The drilling mechanic seems to come straight out of Pepper Grinder
Sonic Colors is likely the common point they're both drawing from.

I think this game is going to be something special.
Kinda weird it doesnt get the huge attention here. They game will do great thats not gonna be a problem. But the game wins best Xbox One game, best skill game and is the only game that wins two prizes as the Gamescom awards. Yet the threads struggle. Maybe everyone knows its amazing and is day one buy already. :)

I hope this replaces those auto-scrolling sequences from the original. The Ginso Tree soured me on the game so hard. This time attack stuff might scratch that same itch.

The Ginso tree segments were the best parts of the game?
Stuff was amazing. Combined all that you have learned into one amazing segment. The rush was great.

Glad you guys enjoy the Spirit Trials! :)

We tried a TON of things in Pre-Pro reg. Ideas for additions to the genre and the Spirit Trials was one of the things that got us all addicted early on - it feels like 'Trials' in many ways :) Since the controls for Ori are so intricate, you can really master the hell out of each track - you'll race just to improve your current time by a few milliseconds and it's super addicting to race again and again until you finally beat your friends best time :D

Honestly, at first we also weren't sure if something like races would fit Ori or would be that fun, but then we had some of our devs compete for better times til 4am only to beat another dev by a few milliseconds... it's awesome :D

And there's a lot more we haven't even talked about yet, stay tuned :)

I'm in love with what i've seen so far from Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Cant wait for what's next and wish you people at Moon best of luck on the development of the game!

Looks cool. There will certainly be players trying to get the top spots in these things, which will add to the game's longevity.

I wonder if we could create Era only races/ranking somehow. That would be pretty fun.

This looks incredible. I still wish I hadn't seen that video because it spoiled a whole bunch of abilities.

On the other hand, I don't know what I expected...

I still need to play the first one more than 10 minutes. :(

But first I need to finish Celeste and Hollow Knight.

I hope there will be some set times to beat to get some rewards. That would make the races fun even for people that do not have anyone on their friends list interested in these races.
