Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia will host "PlayStation LineUp Tour", a live show event that will host videos of the latest PlayStation 4 games, on September 10 at 18:30 JST at Tokyo Midtown, the company announced.

The event itself will be "set in a vast universe that represents the world of PlayStation" that invites viewers to "participate as members of a DualShock 4 spaceship's crew and travel across various planets" as they experience footage of the latest PlayStation 4 games.

PlayStation Plus members and standard Sony Entertainment Network account holders can apply–PlayStation Plus link, standard account link—to be one of 155 users chosen to attend the event. For everyone else, the event will be live streamed.

Live event will be roughly 60 minutes long according to Famitsu

Is this the TGS conference or something different?

OP left out this line from the post:

While not specifically stated, it seems likely that this is a new format for Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia's annual pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference. In 2017 and 2016, it was called "PlayStation Press Conference in Japan." The years before that, it was known as the "SCEJA Press Conference."

This is so dumb I kind of love it.

It's 10 days before TGS, so I guess not.

Huh... But like, are they really going to do it so early o.O? Weird.

If it is their TGS conference, then I'm pretty excited. We don't know what Japan Studio is doing outside of Astrobot, and it's probably where we'll get new Left Alive info.

I mean it's just speculation on my part, but it doesn't make sense to me why they'd hold a video show that day, followed by another video show a few days later. So my only conclusion is that this is probably the TGS conference.

In other words, a show without much new announcements. Which was to be expected anyway if you follow how is the home console market in Japan and Sony Japan's output. I'd rather have no event at all instead of a barren conference. Hoping for a nice PlayStation Experience to close the year at least.

Probably will see Babylon's Fall here, interested to see what kind of game it is.

The video presentation better have presenters in Star Trek get-up, on dramatic swivel chairs. Something like this:

If you're going to theme this, then theme hard dammit!

Even better, have the dualshock dogfight a gummi ship.

10/10 theme, it writes itself.

The sooner we move to video only directs the better. Traditional shows are slow and incredibly cringeworthy. One of the few things that continue to make the video game industry look like amateur hour.

No thank you.
Not every conference is an EA/UBI cringefest, and directs can be just as cinge.

Dual Shock 4 to be compatible with PS5 announcement. Thats why the 155 users are the chosen few to see it in person.

I can't stop laughing at this concept. It's so silly. Feels like it's out of the 90s

SIEJA press conference has been early in the past.

Sep 9 in 2013.
Sep 1 in 2014.
Sep 13 in 2016.

Yes, this is the time. No more trolling and waiting.

Hm, you're completely right about 2013 and 2014, those were way early (10 days +). 2016 was only two days before though, so it's been quite a while since they've done this. Have to go and see how the 13 and 14 announcements stack up.

13 and 14? You are in for a snooze fest. Too long and way much talk. 15 was fairly good but after Japan Studio and third party announcements it slowed down the pace of the conference.

16 was just terrible imo. 17 was on point but if there was only some console game announcements from Japan Studio it would have been great.

I'm looking through it, and 2014 was pretty good honestly. Yakuza 0 info, Bloodborne release date, Ys VIII announced, Disgaea 5, Dragon Quest Heroes announced (speaking of which, they basically admitted to working on the third ages ago, so I expect that to be revealed any time now), lots of random Vita stuff, etc.

I... Literally can't find a 2013 recap, which probably says more about its quality than anything else. I know that's where Gravity Rush 2 was teased / semi-announced though, which was a big deal for me.

Likely showings

- Resident Evil 2
- Left Alive
- Senran Kagura 7
- Platinum? They have two games announced for the PS4 currently. Granblue might not happen since they've already announced plans to show it in December at the Granblue Fest. But Babylon's Fall is due out next year, so they may have something ready to show with it
- Astro Bot
- Nioh 2

Stuff i'd like to see

- Non-PSVR SIE Japan games
- 13 Sentinels
- Next Tales mothership
- New IP from Yakuza studio
- Dragon Quest Heroes 3
- New JRPG's in general

We're more likely to see Yakuza 7 before any new IP.

They're actually working on a new IP along with the next Yakuza entry

Satomi-san was talking about how he wants to challenge new IPs on all platforms (IE: arcade, mobile, consoles and so forth). After mentioning new IPs for the arcade and mobile markets, he teased that in regards to home consoles, a new title by the Yakuza Studio is already in development.

No Freedom Wars or Gravity Rush 2 at that press conference.

2017's one was pretty fun for the reactions (and a few decent 3rd party announcements) so i'll be in this year even if there's not too much revealed.

Seems this event is seriously flying under the radar for most people. I'm guessing hardly anyone is expecting much.
