What? my god man this topic just frustrating to read though these days its no fun at all.
I saw your 'what' =P Nah, not frustrating at all. Finally, some nice discussions. Better than the 'list your favourite xxx' posts all the time. We need some Tokyo Game Show love. Then we can finally talk about new game announcements =P

Are we sure about that ? The Impatient and Until Dawn Rush of blood use Until Dawn IP and Hidden Agenda is an Until Dawn-like game.
I think so. My guess is, the only reason why Hidden Agenda, Rush of Blood, Bravo Team, Tumble VR and The Inpatient exist, is because Sony needed something quick for PS VR and PlayLink.

The question is : will Supermassive stop to work with Sony ?
If The Dark Pictures is successful, then yes. I think it will be over then. Like From Software after Dark Souls 2/Bloodborne. All multiplatform from then on. Well, let's see.
We can talk about their and media molecules awful marketing for dreams ;)
I guess even Sony doesn't know how to market this thing atm. And they don't have a release date either, so what can they do? More Youtube tutorials and Twitter vids ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought we started a new discussion here now? So what's here to chill? Still no Sly, still no Ratchet, still no Helldivers, no games like Journey, etc. They aren't here anymore, right? You can back that up, correct?
Smaller games/IPs like RIME, What Remains of Edith Finch, Wattam got sold to other publishers. So yes, I think I can see the direction Sony is going right now. Next stop: "More multiplayer games". See Guerrilla hiring mp experienced devs. And I don't believe for a second that it's just for Horizon 2. They will work on a second IP which will be MP heavy. Let's see.

Oh hell yeah, I'd give up every single one of those smaller games for this to come true. A man can dream.

Nope =( We don't even know if WiLD is still a Sony game or not.
Nah, half and half multiplayer and it's a deal.

Oh and Days Gone can go into the sacrificial pile too if they don't put in multiplayer. :p

You had me than you lost me. Leave days gone outta this. Days gone may tout cinematics but it's gameplay first we need that baby. Ditch death stranding

But remember those roomers about Death Stranding having some multiplayer. This could be what we were waiting for.

What about Ghost of Tsushima instead.

Hey you were the one who brought up the issue about Sony becoming one note!

I'm just advocating for the most obviously missing type of game in that gap.

Maybe, but it is what it is. I mean, even the dev studio said it's an AAA game. So it is in the same pool. The AAA pool. Don't forget (I know that you know that already) that Dreams is in development for over 6 years. Wait! I've checked it again, ....it's over 7 years since LittleBigPlanet 2 came out. Tearaway launched over 5 years ago, so the whole studio is working on this game for over 5 years! Media Molecule, after all the hirings, is how big now? 100+? That's an AAA game right there. It is what it is. Dreams is longer in development than Horizon Zero Dawn. It would be interesting to know what the budget right now is. But Sony will never tell us that.

They are not 100+, that exactly the point. Their ''Working Here'' page says they are around 50(and that is at least from the end of 2016/beginning of 2017 because it mentions the small Brighton office), and their employees' page lists 58(and that's the whole staff, including their caterers, their accountants, HR, etc). They might be not fully up to date (I see at least one person there that left the studio this year), but Its definitely not missing 50+ staff.

And you think Sony don't need these contents anymore ? Supermassive did great with Hidden Agenda and Rush of Blood (I haven't played The Inpatient and Bravo Team yet) and is one of the most active developper for VR. I'm not sure if Sony can do without them.

Well maybe Supermassive doesn't need Sony anymore. Let's wait and see.

That list didn't get updated since the stoneage =P After all the hirings lately for Dreams content, my guess was 100. Still, it's goddamn 7+ years + what.... 70 to 100 devs? AAA right there =)

New Ueda game will be enough AA for me. Or a JRPG with an actual story not anime kids saving everyone with friendship magic. Or a space game like Mass Effect
That's all thx Sony

What do you mean by more AA? First Party wise? Ueda's next game will definetly be on PS4(PS5), but it's unlikely that Sony is involved.

Yep. More smaller creative games. Or games like persona or Nier that dont need 5 millions or more to break even.
I took Ueda as a example. I just hope he is making a console game and not going mobile

While I do think that Sony will expand their multi-player aspects, I still see 70% of their games staying what they've been - third person action adventure story driven narrative games with excellent gameplay and polish.

Yeah, instead of creating a direct sequel, they could go the American Horror Story route. In the end, we didn't get a Until Dawn sequel. The IP is dead now. And we got a new IP from Supermassive Games.
Yeah, missed opportunity. So I agree, unfortunately it seems like another dead franchise from Sony.
I've said this before, but that strategy just isn't going to be viable going forward. It's quite possible that next gen we'll be in a place where it'll take around four years from a AAA studio to produce a new game

PSone - New game every year
PS2 - New game every year
PS3 - New game every two years
PS4 - New game every three years
So they'd end up with some pretty large holes in their yearly schedule with a strategy like that. They're going to have to start reinvesting in smaller projects. And not just PSVR games. Because as those latest number show, the penetration rate of it is far too low to really pull in audiences looking for new games.
^ this is my concern too

Btw. I think it's one of the reasons why we won't see a first party Jrpg. They don't make A/AA games anymore (and Japan Studio has no Jrpg team). An AAA Jrpg? Wouldn't make enough money. So = No Sony first party Jrpg.
I understand why Sony won't green-light AAA JRPG anymore, but at least they could try to do remasters for their old JRPGs like Arc the Lad, Wild Arms or Legend of Dragoon.

Kick Sanji from this thread.

Dreams will be a collection of cinematics and that's a good thing. Cinematic, third-person games now and forever. (You don't have to have the realistic art style though.)

Oh, and Fortnite. Thousands and thousands of hours of Fortnite. Damn, I'm addicted. I think Detroit, God of War, and Fortnite might be all I've played so far this year.

Imagine if God of War had even a tacked on PvP combat like Souls games but with all the abilities enabled. It might have made it worth paying full price at launch.

Wow. It's amazing that you're even a Sony PlayStation fan. There's another brand that caters to what you're looking for way more than what Sony is currently doing bud. You should probably check out that brand.

I'm here to stay to push the good word of days gone and dreams I ask you this you false witness can you boot up the last of us and just play or do you gotta pick a mission to get ya time in again? Hmmm hmmm. Well I tell u sir. Days gone I am just ride baby! Do some missions screw over some freakers while I crash my bike into a camp and it breaks down in the freezing snow at night because a dynamic time of day and weather was more important and affects gameplay than set lighting for graphics. I tell you sir I can play dreams and boot up dream surf and play some games whenever.

To be honest I was joking here, I don't think this God of War is one those games that would benefit from MP.

Horizon 2 I'm not joking though.

I'm here cos I like the occasional story game, but if you'd like me to prove my Playstation fan-ness I can go into the other brand's thread and talk about how I wish they'd cater for what I'm looking for instead of botching it every time they try.

After the shitshow of this e3 you really want a new conference this soon?
The format was the problem though, not the games.

Sony still has multiple games produced by EU studios that are on the "wth are they?" train...
Dreams and its Beta, WilD, Blood& Truth...

They also have PixelOpus' Concrete Genie which is supposedly still slated for 2018.
There is also missing a ton of support for indies that used to be covered at either Gamescom or PGW pressers.

TGS will of course rightfully focus on Japan& Asia, so all that is left is PGW -if- there is even a presser there. Imo they need one there.

PSX is a bonus on top for the PS fans for me, I never considered it a major event tbh, and it is so late in the year that it is really meant as a year capper/ amuse-bouche for the next.
