Yeah, I know that now. I thought it was a jab at outrage culture. Didn't realize where it started.

it's weird how people connect these "jokes" to "outrage culture" or "SJWs" yet can't make that final connection to where a lot of the hate comes from. transphobia being one example

I thought the joke was in context of the game including transhumanist and transexual themes since, you know, that's part of what cyberpunk is all about.

While I don't condone offensive behaviour towards any group, culture or whatever, I find it despicable how everyone is so quick on the trigger and discourse is discouraged. I'm sure the comment had not a malicious intention in any way, yet everyone is already condemning CD Projekt and all of its employees to the cross, people who don't agree with your worldview or are uninformed/misinformed are pieces of shit and everyone who does agree with you on calling them so is instantly a paragon of Justice, just like you are.

I'd rather find all of you post constructive criticism, post well formulated posts explaining why this kind of behaviour should be reprehensible and explaining the reality of all this instead of just posting "They're shit!", "I'm not buying anything" and other low-effort that do nothing but seem like virtue-signaling posts because hell, half of the posts in the thread just come out as "I'm angry at them!!!" posts, which does nothing but reinforce the "LGBT+ community are just a bunch of whiners".

While I'm totally onboard with the person who posted that tweet being fired, I think it's rather silly of people on here to write the game off outright as if 1 tweet by a moron now tarnishes an entire company with a history of excellence. Instead of going from A to B, you're jumping to Z.

Oh dear, I took heed to what some of you said here and googled "Did you just assume my gender?" and not only did Google predicted that phrase by the third word but I got a barrage of memes regarding just that. I had no idea that this was a thing.

Like I said, I'm hoping they elaborate on this apology and make a donation to a charity for their mistake or something similar once gamescom has settled down and they have time to investigate the issue further.
This would be perfectly acceptable and an appropriate way to apologize for a dumb tweet of one person at the company, and move on. (Im not being sarcastic).

For me personally, I'm not going to hold one ill-advised tweet against a company without more of a pattern of this kind of behavior company wide. Others are free to act differently of course.

And do you know where jabbing at "outrage culture" started? Or what that really means?

Like, real talk, just as a rule of thumb, if you don't understand a meme, don't mindlessly recite it. It's like these kids going out and yelling GANGGANG on the street, having no idea what that fucking means but they saw it in a rap video so it must be fine.

It's the modern day equivlant of "I used faggot/nigger as an insult for dumb people, I don't hate gays/blacks". Educate yourself for fuck's sake.

Fuck this political correctness and all this leftist shitty agenda.

YEAH! WE SHOULD BE FREE TO BELITTLE PEOPLE BECAUSE OF HOW THEY'RE BORN!

Please.

I'm not certain anyone here who is condemning this has said anything to that effect. You're the one jumping to Z.

Report button should be too.
I hope the mods can keep up.
I'm not ignoring anyone in this thread, just reporting anything questionable.

The mods are very responsive to reports. Everyone needs to report when they see something even remotely reportable. Even If no immediate action is taken, it builds a trail for the mods to see later for other reported posts.

When I saw that joke I thought it was making fun of people who get easily offended, like the attack helicopter one.

I didn't know this was transphobic but you live and learn.

"I identify as a trans woman and would like for people like you to stop murdering people like me."

"Oh yeah? Well I identify as an attack helicopter HURR DURR!!!!!!"

Yeah just making fun of people who get "easily offended". The entire point of "poking fun at outrage culture" is literally justifying hatred and bigotry, which has become clear as day over the past 4 years within the gaming community. If anyone still thinks the people spreading this rhetoric are merely "poking fun" you must be living under a rock.

With their history, we're at least a few more letters in than B.

A MOD stated on the first page why the comment is transphobe.

Why can't people say "They are shit" or "I'm not buying anything"? Aren't those opinions? What do you want from people when there's a transphobe tweet from a Triple AAA Company? Throw kisses? Pat them in the back?

Myself from 2014 was a literal piece of shit. It depends on you if you want to change that. That's how a deconstruction begins.

horrible and inexcusable. it's also very sad to see some people dismiss this on era, i have higher expectations from this forum. glad the proper action has been taken against them.
i wasn't interested in the game but i know my brother is a huge fan of the witcher games and the dev and he's very excited for this game, i'll ask him to get this game used.

That's a really weak apology. I hope the person who sent the initial transphobic tweet is fired. The game is supposed to deal with transhumanism, but my confidence in CDPR decreased a lot after that tweet. A dumb person who sends stupid tweets like that should never be your PR person in the first place.

I guess we have to play the waiting game to see how CDPR changes and if they can put some good representation for minorities in Cyberpunk 2077.

I've had discussions with people who stopped listening to what I was saying because they had an idea of who I was and what I was saying, and would prefer to attack me for something I didn't say. I guess people like that; those that get so lost in their cause that they are blinded from having an actual discussion.
SJW is a term used by those on the right to ridicule and attack those on the left who push for diversity.

The only people who call people SJWs are those who do not support diversity and advocate an alt-right ideology.

Do not call people SJWs unless you want to be seen as part of the Alt-Right/GamerGate community that pushes an ideology of sexism and racism across the internet. This is not some new or unknown thing. SJW is a racist/sexist code word used by the alt-right, and has been since the dawn of GamerGate.

Because your stance is literally, "I don't give a shit if they spend their time belittling people due to their sexual orientation, I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE VIDEO GAME SO PEOPLE WHO FEEL SLIGHTED SHOULD SHUT UP!"

That's a shit post. If you don't care, you shouldn't have posted.

Not only do you not care, you're basically saying they should continue being shitty.
This person did the same thing in sexism-related threads. She has a history of this shit.

As someone who is incredibly excited for Cyberpunk, I hope that his situation pushes CDPR to be more thoughtful in their language in promotion and writing to be inclusive to marginalized individuals. If a pattern of these situations occur, then I would reflect on my potential purchase similarly to how I did with Kingdom Come Deliverance, by not purchasing the game.

I would imagine most people have this same mindset. There are more responses about people being outraged than there are containing actual criticism.

The problem is that CDPR does have a history of this. Their pro-GamerGate tweet from a few weeks ago, or their poor stereotypical representation of Indian people in the upcoming game, shows enough of a running trend here.

Fuck this political correctness and all this shitty leftist agenda.
You people are on the losing side of history, and I look forward to the day when you are driven back into your underground hiding holes again, instead of being emboldened to be shitty in the public, thanks to the sentient Cheeto who's currently in office.

One mod warning in the OP, explaining the harm that this tweet caused and why it is transphobic, and 23 pages later people are still getting banned. How dense can you be?

I expected exactly that kind of apology. "Sorry if I offended you", they missed the oportunity to add "pussy", at the end. So they can get those sweet GG sales.

The foundations of society need to be demolished.
It's a bunch of shitweasels who think they'll be the one to derail the topic to own those social studies warriors on www dot resetera dot com

I'm just fucking tired of this.
Not for "people getting offended" but for people/companies saying transphopic/sexist/right wing Bullshit all the fucking time.
And in thios industry it is even worse, because so many of those buying these products are so simple minded and don't
giva shit about what is being said/done.
Even Worse: They attack you for you criticising these actings. So often times you end up getting harrassed yourself
which makes it even harder to stand up and call out Bullshit.

And people that know and follow you, who just try to enjoy social media or these games get tired too of seeing all this
so often. Is it really that hard not to be fucking asshole so that we all can enjoy games?

It's maybe the second laziest most common extremely obviously transphobic joke on the internet right now, so there's really not any need to slow down or give extremely detailed criticism over this basic garbage. It's not everyone else's fault that you can't recognize obvious transphobia, in a joke that shows up constantly, when it's staring you in the face. Nobody's being "a paragon of Justice" like you're implying; sometimes it's very easy to call obvious shit out and everybody else needs to catch the fuck up.

Also lol, no, there's very little "I'm not buying it" low-effort posts. There's more low-effort "I'm going to post a drive-by 20+ pages in just saying I'll still by it" posts though.

I am as well. The new screenshots they released looks great.

Besides to this issue, CDPR shouldn't have said that on their official Cyberpunk Twitter account. It hurts the image of the game and CDPR themselves. I just hope they make up for it, aside from a generic tweet.
It's sad to see someone so blatantly care more about the perception of a video game company they like than a group of incredibly marginalized people.

If you use the phrase SJW I will know right away that you aren't worth discussing with. It's simple. You should stop assuming that every discussion is equally weighted. I rather not discuss with someone who is ignorant. I can have someone who is not marginalized take up the challenge if he wishes.

No, I don't think I do.

Reactions to transphobia, homophobia, sexism, racism, etc, all get lumped into "outrage culture" by those that just want to carry on with their prejudice and bullying of those very same groups. Oh those persecuted people are just so outraged that I can't seem to have the human decency to acknowledge their existence or refuse to stop thinking rape or gender dysphoria is somehow funny. Then they laugh at them and turn it into a caricature.

I don't know what thread you are reading but people have posted the exact kind of posts you are looking for.
I love how you are commenting on the "low-effort" posts of the people offended and not the shitty behaviour of the people who aren't arguing in good faith.

This is basically a "fuck outrage culture" post.

Sorry that the LGBT community whines so much and it bugs you

My thoughts exactly. Educate the person who made the mistake, make some sort of charitable gesture or similar to back up an apology, and ensure it doesn't happen again. This was an ill-advised "joke" made in poor taste by someone who should have known better, but it's still just a mistake, not a sweeping declaration of transphobia by the entirety of the company, and I expect an apology on a similar scale.
