The Mass Effect comments don't really make sense when the whole point was that for Wii U they only released the last game, which indicated the past ones wouldn't be available, the total opposite of Dark Souls on Switch... Unless you think they should have waited until after porting two games to a platform that may not even be able to run the last one before announcing a simple bundle of preexisting games or something lol.

And I don't get how releasing a more cost effective way to acquire all games is milking a franchise dry either.

Fucking ridiculous that this is releasing same day as Dark Souls Switch tho lmao, that's looking for trouble, but hey that's Bamco for you.

I'm 100% certain that Dark Souls 2 and especially 3 will never be released on Switch, especially with Bamco seemingly doing everything in its power to sabotage (whether intentionally or not) the release of 1. 2 will be seen as "not popular enough" to be released and 3 will be seen as too big an investment to be downported to Switch.

Even then, the issue is that Bandai Namco is offering Switch owners significantly less value for their purchase of Dark Souls Remastered than they're offering PS4/X1 owners for their purchase of the entire trilogy, and no matter what many think of Nintendo fans here people generally don't like spending more for the privilege of owning less. Add on to that the history of third parties giving Nintendo fans "tests" instead of simply supporting them with games and the fact that this particular game was delayed for 5 months with no explanation given I don't see how it's bad for some people to be at least a little peeved at this news.

Companies have released steelbook packs separately for collectors right? If I could just buy SotFS and the case to declutter my shelf that'd be nice.

They want more money lol
What happens if you got all three and buy the bundle, do we get special border or something?

Well, it runs at 30 fps, when the versions on the consoles that run DS3 at sub-30 fps are solid 60 fps.
Yes...and? It's a port of a last gen game, a game that ran on systems a fair amount less capable than the Switch. The Switch definitely couldn't run the game at 60 FPS, true, but the only other option at the point was 30 FPS locked as opposed to some other odd frame-rate or keeping it unlocked. This isn't Wolfenstein II or Doom Eternal

if doom wolfestine can come on the swithc don't how DS3 cant

matter of fact im pretty sure its coming and it would be no point in nintendo announcing it if the first didnt come out yet
Again, those games are 60 fps on PS4 and XBO, and they're heavily downported in order to hit 30 on Switch.

You can't just downscale DS3 to make it run on Switch, especially since From are not a very technically competent studio in regards to optimizing their games. It's the MHW argument all over again.

As someone who hadn't picked up DS Remastered or DS3 yet this is absolutely fantastic for me! Can't imagine there's really a super huge market for this though.

feelsbadman for people waiting for DS Remastered on Switch :(

Can someone who says this isn't strange explain to me why they're releasing this on the literal same day as Dark Souls Remastered on the Switch? Because that definitely feels weird to me, considering it's not a bundle that anyone was particularly asking for...

The overreaction going on here... it's literary something that you can already buy except it's bundled here.

At least you could cut those frame rates in half to make those games work.

DS3 is a 30 fps game. Doom and Wolfenstein target 60 fps but do 30 fps on Switch. We will see.

With Dark Souls Remastered release on Switch that day, this could be an effort to give the PS4/X1 version of Dark Souls some attention. This bundle allows them to offload old releases (Dark Souls 2/3), move some additional Dark Souls Remaster sales on the PS4/X1 platform, and make extra money by bundling them all together. People may have missed the May release of DSR on PS4/X1 and now this bundle will get them interested.

I remember when people used Dark Souls as an example of Switch finally getting day and date releases before the other platforms got collection bundles.

Kinda insane that reality is basically parodying that, with the remaster not only getting delayed for Switch alone but the trilogy collection getting released on other platforms the same day as DS1's Switch date.

I'm sure it's not out of spite for Nintendo platforms (it's definitely just a way to get more money out of PS4/Xbox One customers), but publishers seem to be really bad at executing business on Nintendo platforms even while they nail it on other platforms. I totally get why people feel like it's intentional sabotage.

I must say that it's a real big coincidence that the completely unexplained Dark Souls Remastered Switch delay somehow coincides with the exact release date of this trilogy release. Funny how things like that work out, really.

Dark Souls Remastered will be the first Souls game on a Nintendo platform.

It will also be the last.

That self sabotage tho

This bundle at $80 is weird but I guess it's not a big deal when DS:R is $40 on all platforms, including the Switch.

I think it's just the timing that's ridiculous. You'll see headlines saying "On October 19th Switch is getting Dark Souls 1 while PS4/XB1 are getting Dark Souls 1-3" which is something Bamco could've avoided by spreading this out a bit.

Really weird decision.

Seriously Fromsoft and Bamco, no Switch version for the trilogy?? Man, seems Fromsoft and Bamco hates Nintendo money.

Are there any former EA people in Bandai Namco? /s

Well, I'll have the last laugh - I'll buy DS1 remastered on Switch (already have it preordered with Prime 20% off for a long time), then they'll work their tails off porting DS2 and DS3 - but I won't buy these probably.

...huh. Switch owners getting shafted again, the other consoles get all games while they get DS1 only
This has to stop happening... I bet they delayed DS on switch JUST so they could leverage sales on other systems. I grow tired of these practices.

how/why nintendo ever partnered with bamco is beyond me... it's obvious the feeling isn't mutual.

I'm not getting DS1 for Switch now. I will wait for this to get released on Switch instead. I know it will happen, just like how I skipped street fighter 2 for Switch and got the Anniversary bundle instead later on.

That theory that they purposely delayed Dark Souls on Switch out of fear of it selling more than DSR on PS4/X1 was so true that the company decided to release the whole trilogy to counter the Switch version of Dark Souls 1 from selling for a second time.
Why would they "fear" their game selling well?

Anyway, dumb decision.

In for the Steelbook

I don't own the Remastered or Sotfs or the DS3 DLC, so depending on the price this might actually be a good deal.

Because these games are aiming 60fps. DS3 had performance problems on base Xbox one and ps4. The power is just not there.

I don't mind paying a little more for portable versions of great games on a cart, but this does flag up the Switch edition as poor value. Reminds me of Mass Effect 3 on WiiU arriving just as the trilogy launched elsewhere- as a 30+ hour RPG without much that's similar on the system it's not necessarily a bad pick if you want something to play on the train, but when others are getting 3 games at the same time it feels a bit harsh.

Nintendo got Mass Effect'd again, oof.
Really hurt Switch credibility concerning big 3rd parties.

That doesn't explain why it had to happen on the exact same day as the Switch release. Why would Bandai Namco not want to make sure people buy the $40 single-game port on Switch before they have the option to buy a collection with vastly more value to it. Why would they also not want to give the late-late port of a game as much of a spotlight as they could possibly give it considering it will have been nearly a year since the initial Nintendo Direct hype wave wore off?
