Earlier today, Nintendo announced the release date for Luigi's Mansion on 3DS in Europe. The company has followed up with some news for North America.

The new 3DS remake of Luigi's Mansion is due out stateside on October 19, Nintendo has announced. Pricing is set at $39.99.

Here's what to expect from Luigi's Mansion:

This October, everyone's favorite video game scaredy-cat Luigi is returning to a haunted mansion he hasn't visited since 2001. In the Luigi's Mansion game, a Nintendo 3DS remake of the spooky Nintendo GameCube game, Luigi must enter a sprawling mansion equipped with nothing but his trusty flashlight and Poltergust 3000, a vacuum-like contraption used to capture ghosts, find treasure and solve puzzles.

This is the first time the Nintendo GameCube classic can be played on the go. This updated version of the game includes the same classic adventure, but with some added features perfect for Nintendo's popular portable systems. Using the bottom touch screen on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, players can view the mansion map.

In the new Gallery Battle Mode, exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, Luigi will have the ability to re-challenge boss ghosts that were defeated in the game.

This is such a weird re-release, seeming to be making little new content for a game that's famously short and sweet.

I'm legitimately shocked there hasn't been even a tiny sized 3DS Direct by now, and that instead we've just been getting regular old PR.

Oh well. I'm pleased to see Luigi's Mansion is hitting so soon (and in time for Halloween!)- for some reason I kept thinking it would release closer to the end of November.

I totally agree. The first game shows as 6-8 hours on HLTB, and the sequel shows 14-26 hours on the site. I think I spent about 20 hours pl the game and didn't 100% it. The original game is a lot of fun and I'm not normally one to judge a game by the hours it lasts, but $30 seems like auch more reasonable price at most. It's such a brief game. Games like NSMB2 and Triple Deluxe have similar total hours just to beat the game, but offer many more hours for those who want to continue the experience and 100% them.

Fantastic, I've actually never finished the first game but I am very fond of the sequel. Will pick this one up for sure.

I'm still salty this isn't on Switch. I still might get it though because I love the game, and I've wanted to replay it for years.

Then again, I should probably just track down a cheap gamecube copy and dust off my Wii.

Decisions. Decisions

Likewise, I kept anticipating one post E3 but it never came. I guess if this is the last of the 3DS lineup for 2018 it makes sense.

I'm really looking forward to playing Luigi's Mansion on the 3DS, this will be my first time playing the game.

This is gonna be so good in 3D.

I always thought dark moon was just Luijis Mansion with a few tweaks/changes?

If not that's great because I love the game to bits.

I honestly think these are more last hurrah titles, so I wouldn't worry about buying this game meaning "I'm voting for more 3DS games instead of Switch games". It would have been nice on Switch, but it was only put on 3DS because they already had the Dark Moon engine ready to go.

I'm not worried about that. I was just thinking that I could replay the game for cheaper and in a higher visual fidelity by playing the original GameCube release.

I wonder if this game will have anything to do with that new design Luigi's Poltergust has in the Smash reveal trailer for Simon.

This is the first 3DS game I've truly wanted to get since the Switch was released.

Still probably won't, though. It's a bummer, but I've got enough to play on both Switch and PS4 that I likely won't feel the need to unearth my old 3DS with its torn circle pad.

Welp, there's one less reason to have a Nintendo direct. I wonder if they're basically sending this out to die.

Any Nintendo Direct this point forward is probably going to focus on Switch games. Notice that the 3DS was ignored in the E3 presentation and Treehouse demos, despite some games releasing this year.

Luigi's Mansion is one of my favorite GC games and I've been waiting for a proper sequel since it came out. Dark Moon is a good game, but it was missing some of the vibe that I loved about LM

I do wonder how the vacuum will work without the feedback in the trigger lack with the gamecube version, being able to control it like that was a key aspect of gameplay IMO.

the nub from my 3DS came off fighting Ridley in Samus Returns, so I won't be able to play this.

RIP old friend.
