Oh yes, that's the stuff I've been waiting for. It's been a while since I played a decent Ace Combat (last time was on PS2). I wanna see what the game looks like maxed out on PC, this should be good.

Ah the main reason I bought my PSVR finally has a release date. Funny thing is I never liked any AC games prior to this but am hoping the VR aspect pays off.

Can't believe it's been almost 11 years since 6. This looks absolutely great and the music is god tier like usual from the man Kobayashi.

Getting the PC version with hopes of them supporting the vive sometime in the future.

Looks so damn good! What was that recent indie game, slightly cell shaded I think that was also an arcade flyer? Might need that to tide me over till this is out

I'm so glad it's a 2019 date. No way I could have gotten it this year.

Also I wonder if Mobius 1 will be in the game at all?

Played the game at gamescom just now and the first line of dialogue was something like "atone for your crimes by being the bait and recon for the ground groups."
Instantly laught of the ridiculous premise. Okay, let's give some ex convicts million dollar Jets for some recon work and cannon fodder.
Games still fun of course but the cheese will be, as always, strong I suppose.

Ehhh dunno about that, there is a lot of cheese in ace combat, but that scenario specifically doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

Those convicts supossedly were fighter pilots so they were very, very expensive to train and they are at war, so instead of losing their regular pilots and therefore the money from the plane and the training, they send out the convicts from the penal squadrons on shitplanes as cannon fodder, only risking the planes as the pilots themselves were already a loss from the start.

I might get hate for this but the main thing I like about these games is the soundtrack! I wouldn't play the game otherwise if the soundtrack wasn't so good.

I hope this one has an amazing soundtrack too like the PS2 ones.

I found the Ace Combat games from last gen to have soundtracks nowhere near as good as the PS2 games. Was it a different composer or something?

is this a standalone story?
I highly doubt it. That's a character from AC5 in the tank top. I think it's before 5, could be wrong though.

It was Keiki Kobayashi, at least 6 was(which is a very underrated game). I'm pretty sure he did AH too, probably just phoned in.

This game takes place in 2019 (a first for the series having the game take place the year it is released) and AC5 takes place in 2010. This is a sequel all the way.

From what they've shown up until now, the game draws much more from 4 than 5 (I've only noticed the painting from this trailer, and the whole theme of space), though I'm sure I've missed a lot of things, so who knows.

New Yawk City!
Amazing trailer.

That IS Ace Combat, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Eh, I don't remember AC04 being that heavy with dialogue but I see your point with other releases! I'd rather just have a nameless ace shoot things so I'll buy this game and play it on mute or something. I haven't played an Ace Combat game in ages and this looks gorgeous. Done deal.

AC4 definitely wasn't as melodramatic or dialogue-heavy as 5 or 0, but it still had its moments.
