It is the public presence of the most anticipated game in the world, using the language of people that don't think transgender individuals are as human as everyone else. The Cyberpunk account has over 200 thousand followers. They have a responsibility not to normalize things that belittle the very very real struggle of transgender people.
Yeah well comedy is dead or dying from where it was in the 80s and 90s IMO. I was actually confused about what was going on. I clicked that link and it said, I want more guys. I assumed I was not reading enough. I don't know the meme, and don't really care about it. The joke was not funny so I'm not really gonna bother wasting more time. I'm sorry if this is some big thing, but it isn't to me. Plenty of people make outrageous jokes. I am not offended easily. Different strokes. The joke was fucking terrible if it took this long to get it, and it's still bad after I somewhat kind of grasp where it came from.
I don't really make borderlines where you cannot cross in comedy. I guess a lot of people do. Like I said it is your right to get offended and mine not to care much.
But I do agree it is INCREDIBLY poor taste on a twitter line for a game developer.
Ask one of the dozen or so trans people posting in this thread.
I think we should assume the best intentions from people posting on this thread. Unless you have come across the fact that "did you just assume my gender" is a specific meme phrase mocking people, it is pretty understandable to be confused on why it should be seen as offensive, because at first sight it appers like the correct thing to do.
If I see someone looking like a guy, they actually might identify as female. And for such a person, it is more important that I respect what they want to identify as, not what they look like. But without asking what gender they identify as, I have no way of addressing them correctly. So it would be rude of me to automatically assume they are a "him". So assuming someone's identity based on looks is a bad thing, right?
Naturally after discovering the meme meaning, a decent person would steer clear that specific phrase.

You can tell how much people want to pretend this isn't an issue based on how many people are ignoring CDPR/GOG's literal endorsement of GamerGate in their Postal promotion that has been posted multiple times in the thread

You misunderstood. Assuming that the whole forum has one agenda is a lazy way to make an argument. Hell you can tell that there's a variety of opinions just in this thread alone, so to claim that the alt right/leftwing/gamergater/oversensitive nature of this board is shining through is just lazy arguing.

thb, i don't think this was ever meant to be a joke post, now that i understand where is the problem about this post (even tho i have trans friends, it's the first time i'm hearing this joke/meme thing). What happened imho is that the person behind cyberpunk twitter account was just "role playing" cyberpunk themes, like it doesn't matter what you look like, you might be the opposite genre, genderless, or both genres at the same time....it's just themes of cyberpunk.
The amount of people saying "eh it's just a lazy joke don't get offensive" without trying to understand why it's offensive to a certain group is astonishing.
