Edit: I'm sorry you feel like you're being attacked if you were offended by this meme joke. It was cheap and lame, but it's nowhere near earning the outcry its currently receiving. If this makes you want to boycott such a cool looking game, well that's pretty damn unfortunate.

I feel the pic the 1st tweet links to is relevant to a complete understanding of the situation.
I however fail to see the offense, especially as a foreign that really don't know what genre these people's names are supposed to be. And the "offended" is an employee?

Edit: good explanation just above me. Well, sure crossed the line, dark humor that's not really funny and does only harm. Shot themselves on the foot there.

listen, the reason this is shitty is because the "did you just assume their gender?" joke is designed around mocking trans people and their desire to have their gender identity respected, that's all. the idea is that a hypothetical "angry trans person" is yelling at someone for misgendering them and it plays into the stereotype that trans people are all strident, angry activist types. literally the entire point of the joke is to mock the idea of misgendering someone as if it was meaningless and anyone who might call it out is ridiculous. it is absolutely transphobic and honestly this makes me want to not support this game

My issue with the world today, I try my best to be the best person I can be every day. I genuinely care too much about other people's feelings and often put others before myself. I want people from all walks of life to be happy and find happiness/love...but I also want don't want the world to spiral into complete political correctness.

They shouldn't have wrote that tweet but this is the problem with Twitter imo.

A poor joke but not one they deserve a horrific amount of heat over.

But you're correlating it with transphobia even though ive seen the same dead meme posted throughout various sites without that intention. Now the "I identify as an apache helicopter" bs is transphobic and is i transphobic meme but this is literally nothing.

Despite social media knobheads stumbling into every faux pas imaginable, it's actually not that hard to not be an asshole.

Just start with the basic assumption that everyone is a regular person who wants to live their life and not have to put up with rudeness and pointless drama about what box they fit into.

Step 2 is don't be a rude git who makes jokes that treat people's identities as the punchline.
