It's 25€ on steam, both include all the expansions

30 on Switch is not steep

For perspective, though, even as soon as it came out of Early Access on PC, Prison Architect was routinely discounted by 75% so the perceived baseline for its cost is much lower. To be clear, it's a great game and nobody should have concerns about value for money in terms of hours-per-dollar, but when you consider everything from UI/controls to performance even before you look at the price, I would be cautious about recommending it on the Switch for anyone with access to a PC until we hear more about port quality, controls, and so on. It's worth $30, and better value than many games that are similarly priced, but the reality is that nobody who gets into it on Steam actually pays that much.

I myself have made a near-total conversion from the PC to the Switch as a primary platform, as I simply put more time into games that way, so I understand if the Switch really does add that much value for a player who wants to buy the game there instead. And some builder-oriented games that seemed designed first and foremost for a mouse and keyboard (I'm looking at you, Stardew Valley) actually turned out to be even better with controller inputs on a handheld, to my surprise. But it's only responsible to inform those interested in Prison Architect that the version on the lead platform, PC, is routinely available at $7.49 multiple times a year, every year.

If I get review code in, I plan to make Morphies Law the first direct-feed Switch undocked gameplay upload I do.

Great post, could be a shitty port like Stardew Valley at launch with atrocious loading times for example. I'm also waiting for the different region prices. :)

From the indies highlights Baba is You looked pretty good. Expected to see 7 Billion Humans in there, but it wasn't included.

I'm curious if Morphies Law will get a sizeable playerbase up and running. Game looks pretty fun though.

Prison Architect was discounted a fair bit during early access as well.

Personally, I paid £30 or so on Steam for it - I know that I could have gotten it cheaper at another time but I wanted to play it when I wanted to play it, plus I like the developers.

Wow, didn't even realize that Prison Architect was coming to the Switch. Looking forward to impressions/reviews of the port.

I think I may have run into a bug in Flashback, wondering if anyone who's played it can help out.
You know how you obtain the work permit and have to do missions to get enough credits? I did missions 1, 2 and 3 but then it skipped over to mission 5. I know there's a mission 4 that involves hitting some switches but it's not there

Morphie's Law is pretty fun so far, albeit a little rough around the edges. I imagine a patch or two would fix most issues up.

Buy Prison Architect. That is all.
Maybe.

I'm not gonna ask you how the port is. For some reason, I have a feeling you're not 100% impartial. :P

In all seriousness, though, if the word is good I definitely plan to get it when I get paid next month. It's exactly the sort of game I've wanted on Switch for ages.

Just found out Broforce is coming to the Switch on Sep 6th.

Had lots of fun playing it with my bro a couple years ago. I remember it running awful on the PS4 during the second half of the game. Hopefully the Switch version launches in a better state.

Does anyone have any ROM 2064-like games to recommend on Switch?

Thimbleweed Park is the closest thing right now with similar quality. The only difference is that you can move the characters on the scenario.

I hope developers open the gates of VN games someday. (Danganronpa and Zero Escape ports would be a good start)

I've been seeing a lot of Diablo 3 Switch ads in front of my YouTube videos today.

I wonder if this port is hitting more like October or late September, than later in November.

Slay the Spire coming eventually, now that's a good get. The game has been killing it on Steam and the word of mouth just keeps getting better. Could be the Hollow Knight of 2019 in a way.
Anyone looking to play a great game that's very similar should check out Night of the Full Moon on mobile. Only $1, lots of value.

Share impressions of Bad North later if you can.

I've played through 6-7 islands now. Seems to run smooth, nice simple graphics. Cute sound effects for attack, etc. Reminds me of tower defense games. So far have faced a few types of enemies that all land via boats and try to attack my houses. You click spaces to send your troops there and they fight nearby enemies. When your squads lose soldiers you can send them into a house to rest. At turns end you earn coins and give them to squad leaders to upgrade but I am not sure if it auto upgrades or I need to assign the type of upgrade, guessing it's the latter. I can see this getting hectic, like boats landing on multiple sides of your island and you have e to juggle which squads are attacking, resting, and so on.

How is the core loop?

I'm not convinced this genre is a good fit for roguelite, at least not as executed here, and I'm wary of the metagame.

I've been playing Morphies Law for a few matches, and... I can't tell if I'm having fun. I've been pretty confused the whole time. Objectives aren't ways super clear. It's hard to know what I should be doing at any given time. I hate the Tanker Town map and we keep playing there...

You need to fiddle around in between rounds in the character menu. Try pressing down to access the skillet area. It's fairly unituitive. Nice game so far, feels like a solid purchase at $10, at this point.

Seems ok? I haven't played too many games like this except for Kingdom: New Lands. That game was super addicting for me, could see Bad North being similar. There's a lot I still dont know. You move from island to island. I only have 2 squads of swordfighters right now but there seems to be room for 4 squads on my UI, also icons for other types of troops like archers but I can't figure out how to get different types of soldiers. It warned me that if your squadleader dies you lose the whole squad so I have been very careful to rest any squads that seem nearly wiped out. Every island is a little different, sometimes adds new enemies. Hoping for many more future soldier and enemy types + bigger and bigger islands as I progress further, will play more later tonight and learn more about all that.

Downloading Bad North now. Seems like my kind of game.

I'll put some impressions up when I've played a bit.

Please do. I need helpful tips to improve at this game.

Thank you! Will try it out :)

Morph match - team deathmatch
Head hunt - capture the head (flag)
Mass heist - stand on a target platform and shoot the enemy avatar, you will gain mass. run to an altar and empty the mass. team w/ the most mass wins

Interested in Prison Architect. I own it on Steam but portable would be lovely.

Anyone played yet can say how FPS/performance are? If it has issues I am passing on it for now. Thanks

God I hope they're working on a new UI for the eShop.

Also, does anyone know of a website that reviews most , if not all, games that drop on the eshop?

Bad North is cool.

However, it is in desperate need of a decent tutorial as the one they have is pretty bare bones.

Tips:
  • When you are on the map screen, press down to access the upgrade screen. Here you can spend your points and assign your fighters a class.
  • If you see a banner on an island, go there as that is how you get new generals/units
  • Get to learn the enemy units and which of your units work well against them.
I'll add some more as I go.

Everyone who is interested in prison architect on the switch, I am currently playing it. Im currently playing through the story mode since thats the easiest way to familiarize yourself the mechanics of the game assuming you never played any other version, as well as get yourself used to the controls the game has with the Switch. Since I've always played the PC version Im already really familiar with the games mechanics. But I never played through the entire story mode because I got stuck during the second prison (part two of the story I guess you could call it). So I just watched youtube video to familiarize myself with the game mechanics. Though assuming you dont get stuck like I did, Im pretty sure the story is supposed to teach you most, if not all, of the mechanics. What had me stuck was...

That you are suppose to build a common room for the alcoholics therapy to take place in, it needs 8 chairs and such, and I took this as I needed a separate common room for the therapy. Dont do this. When you set up the therapy program it will select whichever common room you built first. So just to be safe stick to building single common room first. After it confirms that the program has been set up right, then you can build a second common room for everyone else to relax and such, though that isnt required. Im pretty sure there is a way to select which rooms (if you have multiple of the same room type) that get used in any given program or at least that was the case in the PC version but I havent figured out how to do that yet in the Switch Edition.

For now I'll leave a short summary of the performance I've seen so far within story mode, and will come back probably in a couple of days after I've had a chance to build my very own prisons to talk about the true performance.
I'll admit right off the bat Im not sensitive to minor fps drop. I can tell the difference between 30 fps and 60fps. If the drop is large like 10 or more fps, and is happening repeatedly or when certain things are on screen then sure I'll notice. The bigger the drop the more I'll notice. But if its not affecting game play then Im generally not bothered by it. But if only a few frames are being dropped here and there or once in a blue moon, even if I notice I wont remember since it was insignificant.

Docked mode:
But anyway, so far, at least in the main menu and in part one and two of the story, the game seeminly runs at 60fps. Whether you're zoomed in close or zoomed out all the way to see the entire prison the game runs smoothly. The game does autosave occasionally, which freezes the game for less than a second. It also autosaves whenever you complete an assigned task in the story. Not sure if its specific to the story mode or if it autosaves like that in sandbox mode as well. Going off on how much more user friendly the console versions are compared to the PC version, Im pretty sure there is probably a way to turn off autosave and or make it less frequent but I havent looked yet since Im not bothered by it.
I cant say much more since I need to play more.

Portable mode:
Havent played it it yet, dont intend to play it seriously portably since Im not allowed to bring the switch with me to work so I have no reason to take it out of the house. I'll try playing it portably later, but for now just know that it runs like a dream in docked at least.

Boy, I hope these stories about Graveyard Keeper coming to the Switch are true. Looks like a great twist on the Harvest Moon formula.
