Based on this, does that mean the plan of using the same executable is basically still on?Yes we are, actually :) You will be able to hide in the crowds in Paris if you own Hitman 2 (and the Paris location). As an example.
:/
I am really hoping that isn't being done because Hitman 2 is light on content.
They've confirmed six levels, which is on par with Hitman 1 minus the tutorial missions.:/

Phew, thank you.So, whatever you own from Season 1 will be updated to work with the new mechanics when you get Hitman 2. If you only have the Paris episode, that should be updated.

I don't really see why it would be much to worry about. They've been actively updating Hitman 1 like this for a long time and that work was all carried over to 2 as well.
Phew, thank you.
Yeah just going by content in the base game at launch. The future support planned always seemed solid. It's six plus two via DLC, which also include Sniper Assassin maps. That's at least 10 levels.

Unlikely. The base game has the same number of locations as the first season. 2 more locations confirmed as expansion. And Miami looks freaking huge.:/

That's great news. This will work with physical copies as well? So, whatever you own from Season 1 will be updated to work with the new mechanics when you get Hitman 2. If you only have the Paris episode, that should be updated.
Hitman 2016 old version will also be updated yes? Your previous statement makes me think so but the wording is a bit unclear :PHitman 2 will be one executable that can launch all content from Hitman 2016. All episodes from 2016 will be treated as new DLC so that it can be launched from this executable (with new mechanics retrofitted). Hitman 2016 will still have its own executable as well.
Yup :)This is amazing. HITMAN 2 is literally Season Two.
I was hoping for the content from Season One being moved to Season Two, like the suits. But it's also happening in reverse? We're getting the suitcase for Season One, now?
Wow, this is amazing. Have this ever been done before with another franchise? Updating a past game within a sequel with all the new features of the sequel?

Hitman 2016 will only get updated for players who get hold of Hitman 2. We where not able to get around that, unfortunately.
The wording was in addition to that system. It seems that Season 1 indeed will also get a separate update, though it still requires Hitman 2 purchase. That sounds more like the Hitman 1 missins are being retooled for the sequel. Like an old map from an FPS might get remade/ported across to a sequel.
They are treated as new DLC downloads for hitman 2.
That's how I read it anyway.
So if I boot Hitman Season 1 that will be updated
But I'll also be able to boot them via Hitman 2?
Or just Via Hitman 2 and the first executable remains as it is?

If you own Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2:
You launch Hitman 2016 and play it in the state it is in now, without being retrofitted.
If you launch Hitman 2, then you can download 2016 episodes (if you own them) as new DLC and play them with new retrofitted mechanics.
This will be the same if you own the disc version of Hitman 2016.

Plenty of people bought it like that. I'm sure you'll be fine. This is incredible news but I'm 100% expecting to get fucked because I bought all the Hitman 1 stuff piecemeal instead of together so it probably won't count as me owning it all. Fuck.
jfc how hard to you have to try to sour grapes this announcement.:/

Pefect, thankyou. That should clear it up for a lot of people.
Will this work for people that have purchased either or both of the games on disc?
Thanks for all these clarifications- really appreciated. I own the Hitman Complete First Season steelbook. If I buy Hitman 2 digitally, will i still need to put my disc in every time I want to play the DLC versions of Season 1 in Hitman 2? I would love to be able to buy Hitman 2 digitally and just do everything in there from now on.
It makes sense that you had to pay a little for the exports, they were basically relicensing the songs to have them available as downloadable songs (since they were specifically licensed as on-disc songs). They were hardly being greedy about it. You didn't have to pay extra to move already downloaded songs into your existing library.Closet thing I can think of is Rockband where you could add your previous songs, cheeky beggars charged for those songs unlocks though whereas IO are gifting this to us for free.
Yes, you will download the 2016 episodes again and launch them digitally from the Hitman 2 executable.
:/
