Any Xbox One X features here? If not I may just go with the PC version so I can play it at 1440p.
There's definite similarity between Shenmue and Yakuza, and Nagoshi worked with Suzuki on Shenmue too. But broadly speaking, they are two different experiences. Shenmue revels in the mundanity of small town life and literal clockwatching whereas Yakuza is, well, a batshit operatic brawler.
Lol admittedly it was for irrational reasons. Got the physical copies for both the Xbox and PS4 to have the cases for both, the limited edition PS4 version, digital PC version through Newegg, and because I wasn't sure when I'd get my PC digital code, I purchased the digital Xbox version so I could play it at midnight tonight. I really, really, really want this to be successful, so that's how I'm justifying this to myself lol.
On the other hand, those pics look great. It would be cool if you could just turn down the bloom to a minimal level, just to give a little bit of depth instead of oversaturating everything.Bloom indeed looks awful lol (like 2000's awful)
Switching bloom off was one of the first things I did. I hated how it looked on the Xbox version of 2.
Forgot how much you need money at the start of 2 as well. Getting hit for $38 a night to sleep and not getting paid on my Lucky Hit job because I keep losing.

I quickly learned to turn off the bloom. It was one of the first things I did lol. I would advise everyone else to do the same when they get their copy.
The realistic location design really shines. The locations feel like real places with real logic. Shenmue always wowed in that respect. It always felt like every business, or area of your home, had exactly the design that it would have in real life.
It gives the game an intimate reality that still wows.
PS4? If so, go into your Library, then purchased and you should see Shenmue and Shenmue II. Press X and then choose download, that'll kick the pre-load off for both.
I'm having a lot of trouble even from the OP understanding what kind of game this is like and whether I will like it or not. I've been curious since the S3 announcement but the screens and videos make it look kind of boring and outdated. Can someone tell me what other games this resembles?
So its cheaper to get this digital on pS4 with plus than physical. Might as well jump in. Always wanted to play Shenmue even though I didnt have a dreamcast.
I have a feeling this collection will settle for scores in the 7 range. Fans of the series will rate it higher than those that are new to the series.

Interesting. I expect most reviews to be around 7ish. In the closing comments they mention bugs still being there, unfortunately. Hopefully the game will get another patch down the road.
I always appreciate when an editor or reviewer's choice label isn't just synonymous with having a high score. I can think of a lot of not-quite-ideal games that I'd still recommend.
